Well it was barely there. I did switch from not aoe'ing to primarly expose armor to get more raid dps (hopefully was worth it). At our best, we did get Anub to 30% before the 2nd set of adds of that surface phase.
The P3 problem could potentially be a bigger issue though. Been reading that guilds use 6-7 healers for this fight. We used 5.
So perhaps Totem of Wrath can make up for 1 more healer. And perhaps less Ag carrying will make up even more dps. ;p
Anyways, as a note for the tanks, in your unhittable/block set or whatever. If you're already over cap and can afford to drop a bit of avoidance, get some NR, like cloak enchants, helm enchants. This will help resist the Leeching Swarm for the 3 of you. For obvious reasons, most of the healing Anub receives will be from the 3 tanks. So this will mitigate some of the damage you recieve, and some of the healing he gets.
Ag carrying is a pre-req to down the boss tho!!! :P
Do we have enough to DPS to burn the first set of adds, and then focus anub during the second wave, and then pick off the remaining adds while we move / borrow phase? This way we can save hero for p3.
It's really not much. For the 2nd set of adds, we only have about 5 seconds before Anub is moved away from the Permafrost to prep for burrow. So for the most part, it's already happening.
What we need is more aoe dps somehow (with more healers in raid). Most vids I see have the adds down in 12-20 seconds allowing 5-10 seconds of focus Anub dps before the next wave. We were kinda barely keeping up, with next ones coming out as the last ones are dying.
So maybe people need to respec / reglyph for this fight. Faster add deaths = more anub dps!
Yeah, another thing I noticed last night was the adds were so spread out, it took a good 5-10 seconds before they were all grouped up. We've got to have them almost inside of anub to get full dps.
yes!!! faster adds deaths ALSO imply more DPS being done on Anub while AOE is going down (i think) unless some are just doing single target...
have we done any parse analysis to see who could be respeccing/glyphing to provide greater multi target dps? I know that for some classes this isn't that feasible/beneficial, but still.
I dunno. That would probably need more class knowledge than anything.
I know I have a FoK'ing poison spec. Switches 3 talent points around and a glyph.
I know that Unholy DKs are topping the meters for this fight. So maybe with Deadhli, and Craeg it's fine. I think Sargus has an Unholy build too. Leaves Quisjaa, but completely diff spec with diff gear for him... Though imagine if we can get 4 Unholy DKs doing 10-12K dps each!
Everyone else, no idea! Blast Wave glyph? Removes knockback and increases damage right? Chain Lightning Glyph? Adds a 4th target to chain right?
I guess you could say that for P3 Purposes...NR = Healing + DPS...since the less healing he takes, the less DPS we need to do to kill stuff...might not be a bad idea to check out how we can incorporate this into our specs without gimping DPS or healing or survivability (for tanks) too much
Oh that also reminds me, the other tip is Mighty Frost Protection Potions for the rest of the raid. Save for Penetrating Cold.
Nature Potions prob not recommended cause the constant tick of Leeching Swarm will just eat it up instantly when we're at full health. Frost potion for the emergancy "health stone/pot" button.
How does P3 differ for healers between normal 25 man and heroic 25 man, other than OT healing? Specifics plx.
Also, looking at our best attempts from last Wednesday 11/4 and last night 11/11, I think there's a measurable difference in DPS - even though we got farther into the fight last night.
Excluding the false start attempts (fights under 4 minutes), our Raid DPS on 11/4 was on average 97.102 K. Our Raid DPS on 11/11, on average, was 95.683 K. And that's with PD missing on 11/4 as well (who is a high aoe damage dealer). Ag was there on both 11/4 and 11/11.
I know for sure there are other factors besides totem of wrath going on, but given that a lot of aoe damage being dealt to adds is "magical" in nature (are DK Unholy aoe abilities "magical" effects that are boosted by SP?), totem of wrath is a big boost.
Anecdotally, and not scientifically, I noticed that the add pickups and positioning last night (11/11) was a bit better than it was on (11/4), yet the adds still took longer to kill.
I'm not trying to excuse or justify our performance last night. In fact, I think we did really well without the buff, and knowing that it makes a difference gives me great confidence that after adding this buff back in, we can get the adds down a lot quicker and do some more splash onto Anub in the mean time as well!
For a relatively short Anub fight (8 mins), he managed to heal for 8M. Remember 27M is his total so that's another 30% his hp to deal with (at 30% phase). The tanks are all on top with over 1M healing to Anub each.
Our dps, is not there yet. This is a parse from one of the highest dps kills of Anub. So for us, perhaps expect a 9-10 minute fight (enrage!). Expect the tanks to be healing Anub for over 2M each. So it's more attrition.
I vote the dbags be disbarred, I have to go back to work for the holiday reset...least this time I get time and a half, have fun with w/e you didn't kill last night.
I have my monthly Drupal Users Group Meeting tonight (http://groups.drupal.org/portland-oregon) and probably won't be back until 8 or 9pm. GL in there and kick some ass.
I was able to run with Salmon last night. I will be on this evening ready to raid with them again, but if they dont need me I like to get in with you guys if possible. Ok see you guys later.

Ok in P3.... 1. Leeching
saedo — Thu, 11/12/2009 - 12:20Ok in P3....
1. Leeching Swarm ticks harder, and healing more.
2. Penetrating Cold does twice as much damage, so less afford to keep people too low (3K vs 6K)
3. OTs still exist, with fast hitting adds on both of them, vs no more adds in P3 in normal.
4. Due to that, at least 3 people are being topped off, and 5 people at any time will be moderately healed (rest is light).
So take this as an example: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/99ozcvm652l5a0yu/spell/66125/?s=12397...
For a relatively short Anub fight (8 mins), he managed to heal for 8M. Remember 27M is his total so that's another 30% his hp to deal with (at 30% phase). The tanks are all on top with over 1M healing to Anub each.
