If I have a slot tomorrow, warrior can zerker rage out of the fear. And due to my high HP in raid buff (36k) I should be able to absorb the damage. Or have a healing priest fear ward a healer during the first fear to do some damage control?
As I mentioned on vent after raid on Tuesday, the fight, for us, seems to hinge on the timing of the 2nd "bite".
Frequently, it's happened like this:
- fight starts
- - BQL bites someone (let's say, Poisondonut)
- - - 60s later, PD bites someone (usually Saedo)
- - - - 60s later, PD and Saedo both have to bite someone, but the timing puts it *VERY* close to her Fear, so most attempts someone would end up either dying (Twilight Bloodbolt Volley) or getting MC'd due to the Fear.
My proposal is this:
Let her bite whoever she bites first - would likely be best to try and control it onto Knoppix. Once Knoppix has to bite someone, have him bite me. Deadhli. The reason is as follows:
1) It will allow me to complete Blood Infusion sooner than later. 2) I can use Antimagic Shell to avoid the Fear completely, thus ensuring that the Fear doesn't cause me to run away from everyone and be unable to bite someone. 3) I can use Ice-bound Fortitude to reduce damage from the Twilight Bloodbolt Volley, and can use Gift of the Naaru and Death Pact to heal myself for upwards of 60% of my health over the course of the volley.
Sounds fine to me, IF the people bitting and that includes myself duing the second or third bite phase can time it correctly and nobody dies during the volly, the rest of it should go smoothly...
I am just irritated that Blizz is not addressing it, the timing of it is way to RNG and is causing alot of issues.
If it a problem with being to far apart when the fear bombs hit, why not simply meet in the middle and expect the bite? Wouldn't that help any, sorta like us running to the middle when the lazers hit 3 players and they run to the middle? I say call out who needs bit, run to the middle, run back to your spot, rinse, repeat with next players.
I do like the idea of calling out who you are bitting and when the time gets close the bitter and the reciever run to the middle. Doing it like this though will greatly reduce the risk of the person you are bitting being all the way across the room and you going bat shit insane trying to get to them.
Or maybe even the bitter and the receiver pick a quadrant...so all the bitters and recievers are not in one big fucking clump.
Although that may sound good I know the volly will come into play and screw shit up, I do not know just my two cents. Let me know what else is a good option...
Well i mean when the fight begins someone gets bit. Basically all we need to do is see who's doing the most damage and bite them by calling it out and running to the middle to make it easier to find them. I thought that when she does her little fear that totems and fear wards *anything that can break the fear* should be up and once the fear is gone maybe a hunter could use aspect of the pack so that everyone can run back to their spots as fast as possible. But the key to this fight is, everyone needs to remember their original spot that they were at and go back to that spot not to a new one cause that's what kills people *blood bolt hurts*.
So to simplify:
1. Remember where you stand cause you need to be in that exact same spot or close to it.
2. Call out who needs bit and run to the middle it might help even a little.
3. Drop fear reducing things *totems, fear ward etc. for when she fears the raid.
4. Maybe a hunter can use aspect of the pack to help us run to our spots quicker after fear.
Hopefully this will ensure an easy win over this boss *at least it works out in my mind*.
Over the course of the fight here's how I dealt with it...
First, I pick a random person that's in range, then they'd either:
Run away from me
We both get hit by Twilight Bolts and die
Second, I stuck to my call target, I call it pretty early who I intend to bite
They still run away from me.
We both get hit by Twilight Bolts and die.
Third, got their attention to not run away
We both get hit by Twilight Bolts and die.
We decided to mark out an area to call our own to bite, hopefully away from people
That was one of the last pulls and my mistake, lost track of my target, so bit someone closer. Both got hit by Twilight Bolts, he didn't die, but I did.
Though I believe 1 attempt inbetween all that I was able to successfully pull it off and not die and lived to the end of wipe as a Vampyr.
Blood Queen Lana’thel will now begin her flight phase a little earlier in 25 player mode, Vampiric Bite is no longer mitigated by armor, and the damage of Vampiric Bite has been reduced.
Hopefully this fix will help with the whole biting during fear and air phases thus solving the issues we've been having.

saedo — Wed, 02/03/2010 - 03:35Part of me was thinking.... Fuck dps, just don't bite me the whole fight and let someone else deal with the hassle of the fear bites. ;p
1) Wait, you want to add Gushing Wounds into the fight? Not abandon the quest til a kill?
Also in order for this to work, you have to be the first one bitten (by a player), not Knoppix.
See it goes like this:
So if you're the one dealing with the fear, can't get it to Knoppix unless he's bitten by the queen herself.
And this way gets the ranged/melee spread too. Only you replace me.
After that first fear, feel free to bite me. The timer won't overlap a fear again. Or don't. Whatever. ;p
