Sindragosa Stuff

------------------------------------------------------------

"We just killed this boss in my guild using FrR, and to be honest, it trivialized things.

2 Tanks with 500+ FrR. 6 Healers. I had the raid shoot for 300-340 FrR. Prior to doing this, we used 9 attempts getting to Phase 3 consistently. Phase 3 was just decimating us as a guild, so we held off until tonight, and went at it with FrR. We two shot it, with the first pull getting it to 18% before enrage (10 minute, hits tank for 250k) with 2-3 people being dead most of the fight.

Tank damage just evaporates. Raid damage evaporates. The stress points for the healers are simply no longer there. At that point, it simply becomes about killing iceblocks in a timely manner, and to always be DPSing. Does the raid take a DPS hit? Yeah, sure. You'll have to blow mini cooldowns on iceblocks in Phase 2, potentially. But the FrR removes so many instant points of failure that the fight felt like a joke compared to what we went thru without Frost Resistance.

The FrR slowed Phase 3 down so much you'd hardly think it was the same fight. For the cost of boots and belt, it was totally worth the small hit to DPS. People could afford not to drop their mystic buffet as much, healers didn't have to make decisions where one person was guaranteed to die, they weren't on a terrible clock, and the tanks could tank for far longer than before. In fact, we were three tanking it before, we two tanked it, no problem.

In every way, FrR gear made this fight easier. If you are having problems with Phase 3, but getting there in quick order, I highly suggest FrR gearing for this fight."

------------------------------------------------------------

"Phase 3 is all about control. Phase 1 is the real dps race. If you're closing in on the enrage, push more in phase 1.

If you're running with frost res gear, 10m normal won't punish you too much if the tanks stack up a whole bunch of debuffs, but you should aim for fast switches. When one tank is reaching 3 debuffs, let the new one run out and grab aggro, then the previous tank goes to reset his buffs (by now reaching 4-5 buffets), and when he's done resetting his, it should be the other tanks turn.

Doing it early gives you a good margin in case the tank resetting buffs gets frost tomb.

We usually position our first tomb in P3 between the range camp and the tank, then all melee go reset their debuffs behind it and burn down the block to low percentage. When a new tomb mark appears, we put it more to the left than the first one, when that block is up, you burn down the first one, and start dps on the new one.

Communication is key in phase 3. If a tank gets tombed you need to know what cooldowns you've got for the tank that's not tombed. If a healer gets tombed, or unchained magic, make sure another healer can cover his position until his back in business. If a tank healer needs to reset his debuffs, make sure another healer can cover the tank for a bit, or use some cooldowns. You get the idea.

Also, if you do it like this in normal, you can easily apply this strategy to the hardmode encounter as well. Just be sure to move the people with unchained magic a bit further behind everyone else."

I'm not feeling to well so I

Disrupter — Mon, 03/01/2010 - 14:27

I'm not feeling to well so I may not be there for raid, depends on how I feel when raid time comes around. For now I'm going to go back to bed, in the hopes that'll make me feel better in a few hours. :(

Windows 7 beta is expiring today and I've got to reformat/reinstall and move to 64bit. Here's to hoping I can make it on in time.
