UPDATE! Called the Blizz support line and they gave me a 2 day extension on my account to make it through payday! will be on in an hour or two (she said it could take that long for the 2 day credit to be applied)
So from what I can tell the differences would be...
Positioning, though I don't see too much of an advantage in that particular spot. Just anywhere along the outer rim would probably work.
Phase 1 stacking, looks to me there's a melee pile and a ranged pile. Plagued person makes a quick run towards Shambling Horror and hope for the best
It looks like there's no focused dps on the Horror. Just splash aoe and plague. They got into P2 in about 2 mins, only 2 Horrors ever spawned, OT tanks both. We take 5 mins doing the back and forth switch.
The ghouls appeared to be randomly tanked, they didn't care which tank it went on and ignored them using only splash aoe to take them down. The focus was always Lich King, but I think at most I saw 6 ghouls active at a time
P2 I couldn't see much diff from what we know
P3, looks like the Defile person tries to run out of the raid asap (and keeps running)
Val'kyrs are def slowed and stunned as much as possible
P4 looks like it spawns 1 extra Raging Soul compared to P2, and a few more Ice Spheres
P5, the Frostmourne room appears to be Teranas attacking some mob. Looks like he "rezes" you back out of the room if the mob is killed. Or you can heal him and wait from him to kill
A problem I see that could occur is being sent back right on top of Defile... Pray, or maybe it won't do that?
It forces the shambling horror and the drudge ghouls to spawn within the "raid triangle" formed by the main tank/melee, the ranged/healers, and the offtank. Tanks don't have to move to pick up adds as every single add will spawn in a predictable, forced location.
No focused dps on the shambling horrors at all. Relying primarily on Necrotic Plague to be forced onto the shambler, which - given their positioning - should be very easy.
Likewise, during Phase 3 (Val'kyrs) it looks like they tank Arthas in the center, biased a little towards the throne.
Yea, but that triangle can be made anywhere along the other rim. But I suppose there's 2 landmarks there to make it easier for people. The throne wall, and the pillar.
And yea they try to keep Arthas there, only Defile moves them away.
Here's the thing though - that triangle can be made anywhere, but it won't have the same effect everywhere.
Using ACII to make the diagram - pretend O is Arthas, and the X's are potential spawn points for the ghouls.
If "tanked anywhere" the result is this:

The
ghouls spawn in a triangle of sorts around Arthas. However, if forced
against terrain, like he appears to be here (the terrain being the
pseudo-wall from the Throne, and the edge of the platform - terrain
marked by I):
III..X.X.... III..O...... III.....X...
In the first ASCII shitty-diagram, the offtank might have to reposition to pick up a ghoul, if need be.
In the second, the ghouls are forced into a smaller area, and easier to pick up.
Plus, by having Arthas against the terrain, he can't "reposition" and make the shambling horror spawn elsewhere.
The thing is, I don't think the OT was picking up ghouls. It looked to me, they just let ghouls hit them, whatever aoe threat they had, no focus, tanked by their splash damage too. I see ghouls just tanked by MT (smacking his side) and some by OT. Whoever got it kept it. So there'd be little difference if it's 2 mobs hitting from the same side, or one mob on each side of the tanks.
Anyways, there's one sidenote tip we might want to try in P3 (maybe rest of phases). Nuit tanking Arthas, Orky OT'ing. The val'kyr specifically in P3 is what I'm talking about. Well, maybe not tank, but free to move around. I've read this is a hefty combo to try: Charge Stun -> Concussion Stun -> Shield Bash Daze. Val'kyr gets very little chance to move.
As for Soul Reaper, I've also read any tank can deal with it. Ferals would alternate between Barkskin and 4pc set bonus.
states that tricks and fan should be used to get the ghouls on the OT, and that keeping a few up is a good thing so that when they die the plague gains a stack and can almost 1 shot the shambling horor
