Aurleas and I go heal (shaman and priest) to replace Elapsed and Cromi. Mehguy and Kaka tank, Knoppix, or someone else, fills in for the last dps spot? (I haven't talked to Knoppix yet about this). Only problem with this, 2 people would be on other toons, and the last dps spot would basically be thrown into the fire quite literally.
Replacements for the rest of the week:
Tuesday: Aurleas goes heals for the night to replace Elapsed. Kaka and I tank. Knoppix, or someone else, fills in the last dps spot?
Wed: Healers all situtated (hopefully). Get Knoppix, or someone, to replace Aurleas?
Oh and alternatively for Tuesday. Could have Aurleas tank on druid still and you heal? Maybe even on pally for the offspec stuff since no pally healer?
so I did not carefully look at my schedule until last night, but because its the last week of Back To School season, we will be open (at work) till 9, and wont be out of the store till probably 9:30... This will interfere with monday and tuesdays raid. Sorry guys but I can't get out of this
I think tunnel vision is the deciding factor of this fight since it's so long. I understand that since everyone has DBM that they should always be looking at their own timers, but I find it incredibly convenient when someone's calling things out.
I've actually pondered having someone looking over my shoulder and calling out timers. My son would be willing to do it...as long as you can take the voice of a 12 year old boy seriously. (He's done the fight as DPS and heals on his own toons)
Anyhow, one last thought. Monday is a holiday here in the US. Not sure how that will affect people's last minute ability to come.
Ragnaros.... So I've just been thinking.... Our "progress" and what can we do about it...
Phase 1
For the most part, we have it down. Besides the occasional random fuck ups, we generally have it down. I don't think we're doing anything wrong in particular and nothing could be changed.
Transition Phase(s)
In a word, inconsistent. The first transition is usually better than the 2nd. But some of those pulls.... It's as if we get off our rhythm and suddenly we can't do this phase any more for several pulls in a row.
So since we probably got our positions down and coordinated. The only thing left to do is to add more burst dps and stuns.
Mages - Would fire be able to burst down the Sons better? Sure it may drop Rag dps, but don't care about that right now.
Feldield - Got a bat? 5 sec stun ability, use for Transtion phases only.
Another thought. Cooldowns. Save them all for transition phase. P1 and P2 seems to last about 3 mins each, so can probably use most CDs once if you want for those phases. Then watch timers and save the next usage for Transition Phase.
Phase 2
Besides the random fuck ups or people not stacking in close enough for hammer. The other thing that seems to get us is the RNG of Engulfing Flames on melee while we're stacked. Only thing I could say to that is, have run speed enchants and get better reaction time.
Though, another thought would be that, we don't have to stack that close if the Flames are coming up. But only move in when we know it's safe. Because, there's definitely a pattern to his attacks. The timers aren't exact, but I believe the order of abilities are always the same.
Something like...
Phase 2 begins
Seeds -> We stack -> Hammer
Spread out
Flames -> Seeds in rapid succession
Stack -> Hammer
Seeds -> We Stack -> Flames (and no hammer during this)
So if we see the timer in that order, we stack a little further out, giving us a shorter distance to run out if the flames are in melee. If we see that it's not, we run forward and stack inside the ring for the hammer.
Phase 3:
Well hopefully we get a lot more face time. But we should stack around star side at the very least. So at least the meteors can be better kited to the sides.
