We're starting around 10:30p,

Ghli — Mon, 10/17/2011 - 17:44

We're starting around 10:30p, depending on when Elapsed is able to get on.

Since Feldield not going to be able to make it tonight, we're probablly going to have to normal the rest of the instance. Any objections?

Hey I will be missing raid,

Feldield — Sun, 10/16/2011 - 18:34

Hey I will be missing raid, I'm working a show and they think that it will take till 1 Am to get them all loaded.

My thoughts

Barfolomeu — Sat, 10/15/2011 - 20:42

Regarding the first worm: I usually wait til the meteor comes down then, if it's next to one of my worms, have my bird eat that worm first. My reasoning is that I'm usually not low on HP and everything's just getting started, so it eliminates the possibility of that worm remaining should the bird die too fast.

I for one don't like the meteors being too close to the middle, as that seems to introduce the most LoS issues. It should ideally be beyond the area where the worms spawn, IMO.

I think that as long as we have the first meteor down, the second should always be allowed to break. There should always be enough time to clear our worms and kill the birds before firestorm. And if a bird should still be alive, do what Meguy suggested: Tank it at the edge of the shade provided by the meteor and keep the raid away from the cleave. Sure, harder to do, but better than cleaving the raid.

Also, we have 2 priests. Life grip would be great for getting someone who's having a hard time getting to the meteor.

I know I tend to talk a lot in vent. I'll admit that. I've been trying to keep things to the point. But I must say, I totally agree with Mehguy regarding the AFK between pulls, the lack of having buffs up (food buffs too), and generally wasting time that could be used for pulling. I for one will not be offended if I'm told to STFU. On the flipside, Cromi should not be offended when I tell him to buff, or run back, or not be AFK.

Lol when do you ever tell me

cromi — Sat, 10/15/2011 - 21:36

Lol when do you ever tell me anything other than I need a buff? : P It's more annoyance than anything else, but I'll make sure to not be offended. Do we need to get meticulous with hours? Because I can get really very meticulous. If we're going to start getting annoyed when someone goes to take a piss, or needs to jump off to take a phone call, or wants to take all the extra time in between pulls reviewing the last pull then we're probably getting to a point, where as a raid. We're getting to a point, as a raid, where we're not going to be enjoying the company of the people we're raiding with. I personally hate all of you, it's true, I really do. But that doesn't mean that we don't have to soil your love of eachother for everything 30 seconds is hardly a thing to worry about. And yes, last raid, I took some rezzes, to have some fun, in gchat, all in good humour in my opinion (I know you couldn't see it Barf, but I didn't think it was offensive in any way). As a rule I try to never take too many rezzes out of fear the group will kick me (something I learned as a 14 yo hunter.) I don't have the fragile ego of a 13 yo girl: well I do, but she has a birthday in a few weeks, who is offended when you tell me something directly, so let me know so I can blow it off and start delusional shower talks with myself.

All I'm sayng, is we made some good pulls, great progress, we don't need to sit making huge raid corrections, just a few tweeks on birds and meteors, just we don't go overboard and kill our raid, . My socially dysfunctional ass loves you guys, so if there is anything I'm doing wrong then please let me know. Yes, even when you leave the footpedal open barf, sit there smacking your buttons, or I have no idea where you're going logically on anything.  You're still awesome.  (ps now that you have this on the site, will I need to hear it again in vent?) : P

I was complaining...

Barfolomeu — Mon, 10/17/2011 - 11:59

I'll confess that one of my greatest pet peeves with raiding is waiting on other people, and therefore have little tolerance for it. I too have a wife, and she doesn't understand that when I'm raiding that there are 9 people counting on me. She often goes "Hey, can you do THIS and bla bla bla?" at time like when heroic Rhyolith has just lost his armor..

Some might say I take things too seriously. I probably do. But I'm the kind of person that sets time aside for raiding. I will never commit to raid that I cannot devote 100% of my attention, and I think I'm being extremely inconsiderate if I AFK without saying anything beforehand, or not run back from a wipe without asking for a rez. But that's just me.

Cromi, you're right. I have probably never said anything to you other than "MARK!". As you know, my main is a resto druid, and I too never hear anything like "Hey, good job running around like a chicken with your head cut off, chasing down DPS because they've ranged you and making sure they didn't die because the LoS'd you behind a meteor.". Healers have the most thankless and undervalued jobs in the game. So, for all those times I never thanked you for keeping me alive and chasing me down when I LoS and range you, you have my unending gratitude.

Now please buff me and stop being AFK.

When I go afk, I say it.

cromi — Mon, 10/17/2011 - 16:13

When I go afk, I say it. Other than that I'm just tabbed out checking this or that, or discussing something with elapsed/feld. My motto on everything is just to chill out which is why I'm not going to care if someone goes afk for a few minutes. And yes, I have that demeanor because I'm OCD. and when I'm not like that, I do certain things that are unpleasant to those around me, so I make the situation as ridiculous as possible, which is what I'm trained to do and has taken me a long time to learn. I know that as a raid we are fretting over how long our afks are, for as many pulls as possible? When we spent how many months on normal rag? I know we're not going to compete for server first, yet we are being dicks to eachother because we got all of our regular bosses down in and hour and a half and might of actually had a chance at getting 2 heroic bosses down in a week? That sounds ridiculous to me, I just can't compute it. And I'm saying this as a raid, we survived how many rough months of rag: only losing 1 raid member, most likely because of how much we enjoy eachothers company and raid dynamic? And we're going to try and bitch at eachother for doing the one thing that has kept our raid alive for how many months, our talking/bitching/conversations about nothing? It all starts with respect, to everyone, jokings okay, but when I talk about being 100% commited to this raid I talk about being commited to the group as a whole. It's the only reason I haven't quit raiding yet.

Thank you for the compliment, It really helps my narcissism. : D

I know exactally how this is! When I am here I am here and not going anywhere, once you get married have kids everything changes....you have that luxury to be 100% commited to your timeslot and that timeslot is all you have so you will make the best of it.  We are set in an unchanging loop of static events :P...for the most part...

I wasnt really

Mehguy — Sat, 10/15/2011 - 23:17

I wasnt really 'complaining' about pulls taking too long, I was just
stating due to people running back etc our average pull takes about 10
minutes regardless of boss health/time etc. So if people wanted to do Domo that night as well, we would get like 5-7 pulls in on Alys IF we started on time (LOLOLOLOL).  This last week (Wed in particular) I really didnt recall many, if any, "major" afk issues between pulls.  Just Cromi finishing his story in G-chat on occasion, which really took up no more time that someone just being alt-tabbed checking WoL or something.

I dont necessarily have a problem with people needing to take a phone call, or take a piss etc. Trust me, I know shit happens, Im usually late to a pull or 2 each night simply because I have to let my dogs out (or in) real quick or else theyll take a shit on the carpet and its no bueno... It could easily be fixed by me waiting for a rez as Cromi does, but I feel like a dick waiting for a rez... so thats my bad I guess.  Sometimes it takes a little longer than I anticipate due to having to untangle the big one cuz shes a dumbass and doesnt know how to walk the OPPOSITE way around a pillar...

The only thing I that I get irritated about regarding how long the dwell time between pulls, is when someone goes afk several times in a row, or if someone just goes afk for like 5 minutes without a quick warning or even simple "afk" in raid chat.  Example - I think it was our 1st or 2nd night on H Shannox that Plum had to take a piss literally like 3 pulls in a row, then he was ok for one pull then had to piss for another 2 or more pulls.  THAT shit was irritating, but I try to understand that sometimes... shit happens, important phone calls, nagging wife (I have one of those as well). But if someone was alt-tabbed because they were checking the last fight on WoL, or were checking something on a vid, thats not really something worth getting pissy about, youre still at your comp, all thats required is an alt-tab and theyre back in.

Agreed with the keeping dps

Mehguy — Thu, 10/13/2011 - 11:36

Agreed with the keeping dps down.  Even with that setup last night a few meteors hit the walls when they probably shouldnt have.  I think we should really just up and decide do we just want 1 meteor or both for the first 2 transitions? Because we REALLY only need one if people can get accross the room fast enough, plus if we kill it close to the middle it should cut down on run time. Plus it seems like there have been some LoS issues over with Kaka and Elapsed at times, especially when both meteors go to their side, so maybe just 1 meteor is good.  Plus its not necessarily a bad thing if the caster adds are up once she does the firestorm, because all they do is cast a sheild to protect themselves, so as long as they are dead in the first few secs of the storm ending, it should still be ok. Same with birds (kinda), the room behind the meteor to LoS the storm is pretty generous from what Ive seen, so if our bird isnt down we can just position the bird correctly so were on the outside edge with bird in middle and everyone behind it still able to avoid the cleave.  It can be tweaked is all Im sayin'.

I would like to hear from everyone though as to what they are having issues with, whether its killing the adds on their specific side, or if they just dont have time to help with the birds while the other side is done early each time, etc? One thing I'm trying to do, not sure if Kaka may want to try this, but the first worm Ive been going to each time is the one that is furthest away from my healer (in general), so that way it can eat the worm right off the bat, and then the closer one (while giving it a slightly better chance to hit Cromi with its breath) will allow for less of a chance for LoS or ranging him later in each "phase" when things become more hectic. Also, one thing that has been helping me is making sure i dont keep dragging the damned bird around so much, if I am able to stay in one place without having to dodge TOO much shit, I can easily get mine down quick enough.  BUT if Im spending too much time concerned with how Im going to get my bird to the 2nd worm and certain "kite" paths to get it there w/o getting hit by shit, then thats when its usually still up at the wrong time, because I'm not focused enough on killing the damned thing.  If a worm stays up, that too isnt the end of the world, I havent seen too many worms right next to the meteors (at least on my side) to where they could really be a problem.  So if a worm just doesnt get eaten, fine, just eat it as soon as you get your bird and try to place catch up with it as best you can.  There have been a few times where I wish I wouldve had a 3rd worm because my CDs were down for tantrum and I'm sure it made it more difficult for Cromi to deal with.

Its been taking about ~10 mins a pull for Alys.  While I too would like to stay on her, Im sure some people will want to do some H Domo as well.  I would suggest if we dont get Alys by ~1010, just kill normal, then spend a few attempts on Domo JUST to keep tweakin with it a little. Then at ~1120 just kill him normal if not down and go finish up on Rag.  But that may be cutting time close as we had to extend our end time by about 15-ish minutes this last week because of issues.  But Im open to anything, were making good strides so Im very happy with how things are going.

PS. Cromi's story-telling kept me smilin' all night.

cromi — Fri, 10/14/2011 - 23:24

<3, And the breaths got much, much easier once I realized the length difference. So if if you let me know beforehand then I can check to make sure I'm getting larger heals on you. I think Wed. you died once because of that, where it was just I wasn't pushing enough hps *knock on wood, we should be good healing wise.

Sometimes I have trouble

Knoppix (not verified) — Fri, 10/14/2011 - 10:17

Sometimes I have trouble killing a meteor far away from me because I cannot DPS and run aka I have no feather to do so, kinda sucks but that is how it is.  How did I fix this....stand in the middle of the room (sorta) most of the time and avoid shit.

I usually DOT the add Saedo is killing and sick my Shadowfiend on it and kill the birds trying to watch the health on both and adjusting accordingly, however I alone cannot make up the difference and not having a feather to DPS and dodge shit sucks but I do what I can, one way or another everyone is dodging shit and if you cannot move and DPS it affects your DPS one way or another...I have no white damage capabilities nor do mages.

I am up for any boss I do not care, let's kill shit.

I've only wanted one meteor

saedo — Thu, 10/13/2011 - 12:07

I've only wanted one meteor dead.    That hasn't changed, no clue why the dps were killing 2.    DPS is better spent on birds.

A good pull on Alys is 10 mins, but more often within 3 minutes we saw someone fuck up and we're forced to wipe it.     So depends, if we see more of the 10 min pulls, I think we can kill it.    If we start seeing a string of 3 minute pulls and never getting back, then yea.   Move on.

One thing I'd like to do.   If we wipe.   DIE.    I don't care about shadowmeld or invis or flying to to the exit.      It's wasting another 1-2 minutes better spent on more wiping.

Anyways, we can do this.   Just focus up for 2 rounds of burnout in a row.

Mehguy's picture

That was where I was getting

Mehguy — Thu, 10/13/2011 - 14:07

That was where I was getting the ~10 minutes from, the 3 min wipe plus people taking their time to die and run back/buff.  But yea, I get what your saying.

Not targeted at anyone just

Knoppix (not verified) — Fri, 10/14/2011 - 09:48

Not targeted at anyone just replying in general.

The second metor, sometimes I kill it most of the times I do not, when I do (in range) it takes 1.5 seconds or less to kill it...not alot of time there, but either way we can likely let it roll around...

It has nothing to do with people delyaing dying, it takes no more than 30 seconds max even if people do try and avoid it unless you try and run to the exit (does not happen often), trust me I have counted the seconds...and the only way to speed it up is just go stand in fire do not wait your turn to be next in the aggro chain, sure I am guilty too sometimes...sorry....people running back, most of the times I run back, the other night I waited for a rez got one as soon as someone rezzed me which Elapsed was immediatly on top of and was ready to go before most...just covering my own ass there, work > game and this almost never happens to me, I had a contractor asking me questions between pulls, sorry but it caused no delays....however, certain individuals always wait for a rez....have to rez multiple times and wait....are you AFK tabbed out WTF are you doing....you are wasting my time and others, people do not like their time being wasted...

Now what is really causing the 10 minute per pull fest is all the useless talking and tabbing out to go do w/e the fuck it is you are doing, random unannounced AFK's, spewing random useless facts in guild, news about other guilds, roleplaying, waiting for buffs or this and that and w/e else. I have stood there waiting for people to shut the fuck up and just pull many times, we just keep talking and waiting for people to stop talking...we need to focus on our raid and our strat not venture off into your own agenda to make people laugh or w/e it is you are trying to do. I can almost guarantee you all want to have fun so do I more than anythig else, I can also guarantee that you all get fed up with sucking it up pull after pull, guess what that means, you are not having fun and you likely have alot of these things I said in you head thinking hey, if this was not happening I would not mind wiping we are focused and trying our best AND having fun....it is time to take things more serious which means we all need to focus and stop fucking around.

Also during pulls, we need more silence, sometimes I want to mute vent...silence, only talk if is imporant to the fight not everytihng happening to a single person needs to be announced.  Announce key events, phases in fights hey switch orbs with me (one time), stuff like that and nothing else. If people do not listen to you about their job in the fight and not paying attention hammer them after the pull do no cause more chatter and stress during the current pull, it distracts people and ends up degrading their performance.

Yeah I know this sounds all hardass and I am sure I am being a dick but I honestly do not care, take it with a pinch of salt and deal with it.  Don't like me now, I do not care about that either I am pointing out obvious problems.

Feedback?

So I think we did wind up

saedo — Thu, 10/13/2011 - 00:38

So I think we did wind up with some good Alysrazor pulls.     I'm now quite open to keep knocking on this Monday.    Maybe even having it first thing in the night rather than the last hourish the past nights could give a mental boost.

I still like keeping most dps down below and only one up top.    Until the dps down below can consistently kill off every single add with time to spare, we're gonna have to keep it this way.

Either way, I'd say the time limit is ~11pm.   Then normal the rest of the way.
