PMS - Grand Empress ideas w/vid

Mehguy — Wed, 01/23/2013 - 13:15

Alright guys.  We did awesome on Amber-Shaper last night, and we were doing very very very good on P1 of Grand Empress.  I thought we wouldve had more issues with the resonance circles, but even on the first pull we essentially had the thing mastered.

So for right now P1, is pretty much perfect from where I'm sitting.  The only thing we need to do is (yes) squeeze out a little more dmg if possible.  We are hitting right at that 65% mark, which if we do the same amount during the 2nd P1, then we could potentially be missing a tranisition to P3 by less than 1%.  And I know that will freaking annoy the hell out of all of us if we have to deal with adds twice.  One thing that I read on a few guides, was that Power Word: Shield apparently will work on the person in the resonance circles.  Not sure if you had tried that at all or not Kaluu.

P2... fun times.  I need to pick up big add quicker so it doesnt decide to rape Elapsed like it was.  I'm hoping that maybe it was just a little buggy last night.  Probably one of the better strats/ways I saw with dealing with adds and getting traps up, was they beat the shit out of the small adds, and left ONE of them up.  They did this by pretty much having 2 groups of dps assigned to each tanks adds, then they focused them down 1 at a time, until there was only 1 left.  Any AoE/spash dmg dealt to the rest was pretty much a bonus.  They also got the initial pool started somewhat later, which is fine.  There really isnt a reason to get the pool/trap up so quick if healing isnt too strenuous.  That way by the time we are down to just the 1 add, we can finish making the trap, and make it a LOT less likely that we will trap one of the smaller adds in it by accident.  So I would suggest we just dodge the pools to start once they are cast on someone until we get a few adds down, so we don't lose damage/healing by having people running around trying to make a trap when its not necessary.

P3, seems like it varies from group to group with how people want to handle it, via stacking on the boss, or pulling her to the middle of the room and spreading out around her.  It seems the less hectic way, and the best way to help healers, is to use the stack on the ass method.  Doing this method, we will want to have whoever gets the "Visions of Demise" debuff to GTFO of group once its cast on them, so when it ticks/etc it will only affect them and not other raid members.  Other than that, its just sidestep out of the Purple conal ability she will use and properly rotate defensive CDs when dmg output starts getting crazy. It seemed to me that it took people longer to run through the boss to avoid the cone ability, sidestepping I think would be faster.  Guess it will mostly depend on how close to the middle of the hit-box that people are standing.

TLDR

P1 - Squeeze out more DPS, we are right on the brink of having 2 add phases.  Kaluu use PW:Shield on people in resonance circles if you havent been (its supposed to work)

P2 - Split dps to 2 groups (1 per set of tank adds), focus fire adds down until only 1 remains.  Hold off on building traps until less adds are up, should help with healing and damage when its early in the fight and more critical. When last 'small' add is up, leave it alone until it spawns last Resin needed to build 2nd trap, then nuke it down and trap last Reaver add.

P3 - Stack on bosses ass. Player who gets "Visions of Demise" debuff, GTFO of raid group.  When purple conal ability starts, strafe out of it. Properly rotate defensive/healing CDs.  Use of heroism is negotiable. Either right upon entry to P3 to get to 20% faster for kill ability usage, or save until 20% for use with kill abilities.

I'm open to any other suggestions/recommendations. I think we were doing really well last night for first attempts, just need to clean up P2, which above suggestions should help.

On our last couple attempts

On our last couple attempts last night we had her down to about 63% health, so I think the dps will get there as the raid becomes more comfortable with the fight.

Agreed

Agreed.  Using heroism is definitely not an option if anyone was going to suggest that.  Yea it will, for sure, allow us to have only 1 set of adds, but then we will have no heroism for P3.

Plus, I believe that DoTs/bleeds will still carryover/dmg her while she is retreated.  I'll have to look that up.  If that is the case, then that should be pushing us over regardless.  Its just going to be a matter of getting right back on her as soon as she pops back.
