Doing both wings of LFR
Atar — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 11:22Doing both wings of LFR tonight! Read up on the link above!!!
I have a few of suggestions,
Tankard — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 13:45I have a few of suggestions, but first, is there a parse for our Monday night 25 man? I changed a bunch of things around based on information I found on-line and was hoping to see if it made a difference.
My suggestions are the following:
1) Auto-healthstones. I'm intending to write a somewhat complicated macro that will automatically use a healthstone if you are low enough on health. We should all tie this macro to our most commonly used spell. It will make the healing a LOT easier and save peoples asses who don't know how to move out of the sand. I'll post it along with instructions as soon as I have the time (hopefully tonight).
2) I think we should try to mitigate the charge damage by setting up demon portals at each gate before the pull. People who are slow to notice they are being charged can portal out quickly. I think too many people don't see the warning or see it too late.
3) Patch 5.2 changed a LOT of things. Go look up raiding guides for your class that have been updated. As an example, Warlocks now have different crit/haste/mastery priorities as well as different "best" pets to use.
I think we should mitigate
Aeolyn — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 07:39I think we should mitigate the charge damage by moving away from the big flippin' dinosaur.
There is no alternate solution; people need to learn to use their own class abilities and good old fashion spacial awareness to not stand in poison / sand traps / double swipe.
If people cannot master this then this is all kind of moot anyways. We can try do Warlock portals to aid people who might be a bit slower on the uptake, sure. But then we get to the third boss and all those same people die to lightning, ice, and sand. And the falling rocks on Tortos. And the "Don't stand here" mechanics in every other fight in the raid.
I know I'm not the best tank ever when it comes to these adds -- but some of our players are literally standing in sand traps meleeing the dudes I'm tanking unless I move their target for them and force them to move out of the trap to keep DPSing. I melee too. I know you can step to the side and still hit the guy and not be a healing liability.
I also agree with Chaca. We're demoralized and it shows. This fight feels like utter chaos even when it's going well. It's stressful, and I get that. My honest advice to the raid at this point is to keep our collective chin up and keep busy with valor and making sure to do LFR every week. Once we hit Honored with Shado-Pan assault we should have a huge amount of Valor gear open up. Between that and LFR drops, raid DPS should go up. Which means adds die faster. Which mean less danger for everybody involved.
But even with that, people have got to keep alert and aware. Your valor gear isn't going to help you if the dino charges and you can't move out of it while you're at half health from poison.
I agree with you, there's
chaca — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 10:51I agree with you, there's nothing that can help a raider that doesn't move quick enough from the stuff on the ground. I am one of those melee that have died sometimes on sand traps. I have the liability of needing to be behind a target in order to deliver the best DPS, but that's not excuse. We need to be more aware of surrondings cuz there are a lot for shit on the ground on this fight and a lot of preassure to DPS harder.
Let's bring more from our senses to this fight, let's get this fucking boss down.
Blizzard doesn't like
Tankard — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 23:21Blizzard doesn't like automation. Once upon a time you could use an item or cast a spell within a script but not anymore. I knew they had disabled that years ago but I thought it still might be possible to use a healthstone. It isn't. I could probably write a simple mod that would pop up a UI button to use your health stone when your health drops below a certain amount but that's more trouble than I had in mind. However, if you want to make your own macro to use a healthstone and cast a spell at the same time you can do that and stick it on your bar. Here's how:
1) type /macro
2) Click "New" at the bottom of the macro window
3) type a name like "Stoned", click "OK", don't select an icon
4) In the "Enter Macro Commands:" area type the following but change the spell name from Conflagrate to one of your own:
#showtooltip Conflagrate
/cast Healthstone
/cast Conflagrate
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()
5) Click "Save"
6) Drag the icon for the macro you just made into your cast bar.
The error clear is so that a message doesn't pop up saying the item isn't ready if your HS is on cooldown.
Macro
Daisey — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 08:04Hey Tankard
I like your idea :-) As I'm not good with computers do I need to type the macro on seperate lines like your post???
Atar, great idea about us all going into LFR to practise.
Hi Daisey, yes, you need
Tankard — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 12:42Hi Daisey, yes, you need separate lines like my post.
Macro
Daisey — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 12:44Thanks Tankard I will give it a try :-)
just an fyi. Not sure if you
Mehguy — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 15:22just an fyi.
Not sure if you meant the double-swipe damage after charge.
Charge itself does no damage, its just a means for the boss to get into range of the group to hit them with Double-Swipe. You realistically shouldn't have to put down portals to avoid doubleswipe damage. You have the charge time, and the 2.5-3 secs it takes to run out of the effect for double-swipe.
Thoughts about last night raid
chaca — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 12:27I've been thinking the whole day today about our performance on last night's raid and these are my feelings about it: I felt, in my very personal opinion, like people weren't really into our raid in mind and soul... I perceived this attitude like people were thinking "Nah, we're not gonna get this boss down and I don't care, so let's chill out and wait till this night is over." I didn't hear people really worried about how we can get this done, I feel like we gave up on the boss after the 3rd or 4th try.
I remember challenging bosses on previous expansions. I remember wipe night and even wipe weeks when we hit a brick wall. But I remember those raid times with a different attitude, where people were pouring ideas all over, trying to help out raid leaders build up the best possible strategy for our raid conditions. Not in vain, the most visited posts of all times on this Website are our own killing strat for a particular boss, made of external as well as internal imputs. We cannot wait until Atar or Elapsed tell us what to do and, if it is not working, wait till they come up with something different. We need to be proactive and propose our own ideas but WE ALL NEED TO DO THIS, not just the raid leaders. We need to be mad at ourselves because we are not getting this done the way we're supposed to and talk about it in raid. We cannot wipe all night long and pretend nothing is happening, we need to be completely focused with heart and soul on raid during those 3 hours. If we cannot or want not to do so, let's not waste our times and call it. If raid doesn't move you raider the way playing or watching your favorite team of football, soccer, hockey, basketball or any other team game does, let's not do this at all.
This post is getting way longer than I intended, but I just wanted to share my feelings with you guys. Feel free to tear my words apart as you wish.
chaca
eadred — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 15:53in reply to the people need to productive and come up with ideas on how to do stuff i remember in the raid not last one but the one before that someone came up with an idea on how to do something differant and it was shot down right away... as in we are not changeing anything this is the way it says it has to be done and this is the way we are doing it .so maybe people are not interested in bringing up ideas if thats whats being said i know its flustrating for eveyone. and i dont really think people give up i feel its more people being flustrated. trust me i have had many nights my self doing nothing but dieing to a boss but i am sure we will get through it and imo i think its more a gear factor being as dps is low we went from the first raid in the first tier to the next tier raid just food for thought
Wow, I really thought people
chaca — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 05:42Wow, I really thought people was gonna rip these words apart... oh well...
My 2c
Ghostess — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 08:17I do not believe people resigned themselves to defeat after
the first 3-4 pulls and gave up. My
guess is the group as a whole was frustrated to no end to some extent discouraged.
But again that does not mean we gave up.
As far as in raid mumble and chat? I agree that some
crosstalk / chat on strategy is good but only to a point or it becomes too much
and makes it more difficult for both raiders and raid leader.
This has all been said before but what the hell ;-)
For this next part I can only speak from a DPS point of view
since I have no experience as a healer. Our biggest problems are pretty
obvious. DPS, CC, ad priority and
boss/ad awareness. These cause people to die early due to standing in bad stuff
/not seeing the double swipe and having to constantly keep on the move etc…
Improved DPS means ads die faster and we have less bad things
to worry about standing in and less running around which in turn would allow
more awareness for bad stuff on the ground and the boss with charge and double
swipe. Improving our CC (Hunters- Binding shot) would help keep the ads bunched
together thus make it easier to nuke them down. Which leads us back to we need
higher DPS so they die faster.
With so many ads being up on door two it’s totally unmanageable. In the instances we have transitioned to door
three we are completely over run which leads right back to our DPS as a raid
group is too low and not enough CC which leads us right back to ads do not die
fast enough,
Atar’s plan to run LFR wing s1 & 2 as full raid group addresses all of these
issues. We can farm gear which helps with everyone’s Item level, DPS and damage resilience and we can beat the
bosses allowing us to see the whole fight start to finish allowing us to learn
and improve while not being decimated in the process.
There is no ripping on a good
Threerick — Wed, 03/20/2013 - 07:51There is no ripping on a good post.
Simply know your class, know how to optimize your damage on a particular fight. Do some research, this is the internet, there's millions of information.
Simply put, if you are here for raid, we expect everyone to put in 100% effort, whether it be flasks, own food buffs, knowing your class, punctual, and being able to move out of fire in game. We expect everyone to perform at a high level, and we need everyone to do so to get down Horridon.
If you are going to show up and not put in 100% and waste 24 other player's time, you mind as well just not show up.
Watch some videos, learn the fights, speak up if you are having any issues cause there are clearly many issues with the fight that people are having troubles with.
I'm with you Chaca. Good
Atar — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 12:31I'm with you Chaca. Good post imo.
I've been doing a ton of
Atar — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 11:20I've been doing a ton of brainstorming and researching about what can help us with Horridon. To be blunt, besides brains, gear will be a huge factor helping us get Horridon down. With that said...
Save your LFR lockouts. We're going in as a raid first thing on Wednesday. This way I know EVERYONE gets into LFR and is getting chances at upgrades.
Also, I really think that seeing Horridon on a simpler scale might help us with our kill. This will give people time to practice using their macros and actually get to see the rest of the fight. Getting a sneak peak at Council will also be a plus.
Here's the biggie about doing this. DON'T FUCK AROUND!!! We're not going in there to bullshit. We're going in there to learn and get gear for our raid. Don't take LFR forgranted and stand in stupid shit or ignore mechanics. I want everyone to be 100% serious when we do this. Flasks, and feasts will be used. If people have a problem with that don't show up and expect to get back into raid. Simple as that. I'm tired of lazy people and I'm ready to progress with serious raiders.
I really feel this would help us out a ton so we can get past our "wall" which is Horridon.
I have a suggestion on DPS strat
chaca — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 12:35As I said on a previous post, I've been thinking about last night raid a lot. I came up with this suggestion: How about if we split up DPS in groups like we did with Will of the Emperor's adds? Especially for second door. Say we split melee to DPS Priests and range to DPS Effusions as they come up, just the way we Split DPS for Strenght, Courage and Rage adds.
Just a thought...
I'm going to be doing
Atar — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 17:46I'm going to be doing something like that. Already have it worked out in my head.
also first gate so that tanks
FireWire — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 23:06also first gate so that tanks don't get stunned and lose agro(I know I've been having agro troubles with multidotting) maybe get the ones that stun first, that way tanks get agro, people don't die(unless it's blatantly their fault i.e. standing in the fucking sand traps) and we can down the other adds easier. This helps out healers as well as they don't have to heal more than just a couple people
Re: I've been doing a ton of
Ghostess — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 11:46Sounds like a great idea! And as a full raid group we should avoid queue wait times ;-)
I forgot to add that EVERYONE
Atar — Tue, 03/19/2013 - 11:21I forgot to add that EVERYONE should have coins for this LFR use them! No need in saving them when we're only killing 1 boss in the normal instance. USE THOSE COINS!!!
Can't make either raid this
Katzeus — Fri, 03/08/2013 - 08:37Can't make either raid this week, traveling on the East coast. Good luck!
