Hmm, I thought about this, how about we get some Master Healing Potions, the one that heals for 120k HP just in case Tortos's HP goes >20%? I noticed a lot of people's HP goes down and during at that time Healthstones are kind of lacking, well at least for me. I think that would help DPS maintain a few more seconds to do whatever damage they can do before they die or something.

That's what the Warlock candy is for. DPS should use a DPS potion at 20% when the burn phase begins and we Heroism. That's the best potion use for ending the fight as quickly as possible. That last phase is going to result in several casualties pretty much no matter what -- it's important that we frontload as much DPS as possible going into it.

I stil believe that we had a blast last night. We wiped the whole night and couldn't down the boss with the frustration to be very close. However, we can be very confident now that we have what it takes as a raid to down the guys. We need to pay more attention to all the shit that's going on during the fight, we need to squeeze all the DPS juice we got, but I know we can do it and that we improved a lot and should be very proud for that. Remember that before last night, our best attempt wasn't even close to 1.4%.

Not saying we should lower our guard. We have a lot to improve. But we should be proud as a raid for all the teamwork we are being able to get together lately.

I just wanted to say that I had a good time last night on our Tortos attempts. While it would have been a lot cooler to have killed him, I was glad to see that not much time was wasted between pulls (pet peeve of mine) and attitudes didn't appear to be negatively affected by our attempts without downing. Props to Man Hug and I personally can't wait for more attempts on that bastard. Cheers!

has suffered 1% wipes plenty, I would say it's still an accomplishment to get that far. With LFR upgrades this week, he'll go down no sweat. Remember, if it's hard to look at a situation as the glass is half full . . . get a smaller glass.

By the bye, I realze I'm not offering a solution, just trying to provide empathy and encouragement on a frustrating experience. It could be worse, you could be in a 10 man that is 1/12, gulp.

So yeah. I have some ideas for Tortos to empower my damage against him but they all have drawbacks. I want to run some of this by the healers.

Stupid idea number 1: My usual tanking Runeforge for this fight was Stoneskin Gargoyle; which boosts my Stamina by 2% and Armor value by 4%. I was mostly doing this because I was the bat tank and wanted the extra buffer against having my health reduced to the point of the bats regaining health off me.

I'm the boss tank now so I'm not sure how helpful this really is. I'm asking the healers if I could be crazy and use a DPS runeforge instead. If the answer is no it's totally cool. I have worse ideas.

Stupid idea number 2: My glyphed Anti-Magic Shell can soak half my max HP in damage. Adding things like Icebound into the mix I can eat a crapton of Rockfall (its nature damage). Doing this will also give me a huge spike of Runic Power each time I purposefully stand in a Rockfall. I watched another DK tank do this and it spiked his DPS over 160k.

The other damage gain would be that I can do this while Kuro is tanking the boss between bat waves so that Tortos doesn't murder me and given this situation both him and myself would be gaining huge Vengeance totals rather than just one of us. Since this is all when Kuro is tanking the boss anyways; this gives me a chance to restore my own health via my own buttons rather than take any healer attention off of Kuro.

Stupid(?) idea number 3: I can reforge for hit/expertise cap. Of the two schools of DK tanking; I tend to prefer the one that doesn't go for this (I prefer stacking a shitload of Mastery/Parry/Dodge). However, now that I'm swinging at the boss full time it would probably be worth considering the other option. This will unquestionably harm my capacity to survive but I'm unsure by how much.

I welcome any input from the people who keep me alive.

Edit: Note to self, swap first tier talent for easier disease spreading to whirlturtles when servers come back up.

I personally feel that as a tank your main job is to survive. Leave the dps to the dps. It should never come down to if the tank did enough damage for a kill, should be looking at the dps for that. If everyone stays alive throughout the fight and push their numbers right, regardless of your damage numbers, boss should be dead. With that being said, I think you should do whatever it is that gives you the best chance to survive and take as minimal damage as possible to stress the healers less. I don't know enough DK tanking to give advice, but my opinion is do whatever it is to survive and take as little damage as possible from "Snapping Bite." If you can up your dps without affecting your survivability then I say go for it, but survivability is #1 in my books.

I tend to agree; which is why I favor the reforge route that I do. Still, wiping at 1% makes you hyper evaluate where improvements can be made.

Honestly my optimal solution is to get a 5.2 weapon to smack the damn turtle to death with but that just doesn't seem to be happening. >.>;;;

Last night only shows that every ounce of dps counts coming from our dpsers. Everyone needs to be prepared with their new LFR gear, and current gear making sure it's fully enchanted and gemmed. Flasks and food are a given, and also pots + pre potting, all contributes and we need every little bit of it.

My opinion is that 1.4% should not be made up by tank dps. There's really only 1 that separated that pull from a kill.

While its true that DPS is the primary concern of dps, pretending like tank dps doens't matter this expansion I feel is rather silly to say the least.

Disclaimer: I raid 10mans where Tank dps IS more important.

That said, the order of priority for DK Tank runeforge goes Swordshattering (for most total avoided damage)>Stoneskin Gargoyle (on fights where you need an extra health buffer.)

That said, if healers aren't having issues keeping a tank alive, there is still some survivability built into Fallen Crusader that also increases tank DPS.

Ideally after a 1.4% wipe everyone is going back over and trying to figure out what they could have done more of, tanks and dps, both in terms of avoiding stuff so they stay alive, and checking out how to tightening things up just enough to squeeze out just a little more damage.
