Scaron — Tue, 04/20/2010 - 14:57I find myself just wanting to throw this out there. I'm super stoked for "football coach" Atar to kick ass and take names. He knows this per our conversation about boobies, cows, whiskers, and him kicking ass and taking names in IRC. I also am excited because when our leadership gets stoked about progress...we tend to progress: and frankly, I want a LK kill more than I want a 19 year old hottie in a miniskirt and no panties to sit in the front row of my lectures and daydream. (And that's a lot.)
Here's what I'm suggesting. Just because we're getting serious, doesn't mean that we have 25 raid leaders going off on people making the slightest of mistakes. I'll be honest, I've been noticing myself get more and more frustrated with criticism that's in no way constructive coming out over vent from people who aren't raid leaders / officers. Now, I'm no officer either, and to that end I keep my mouth shut when it comes to barking out raid orders.
In the end, I think we'd do better--maybe even see an LK kill tomorrow night--if we'd focus more on doing our individual jobs and let our leaders lead, bark (when necessary), and instruct us. Maybe it's that I'm arrogant, older, and educated but I just don't like to be yelled at by people who I haven't actively submitted myself to. In the case of our raid officers, I voluntarily submit to their authority for 3 hours a night...if they yell at me, I welcome it as an opportunity to get better. However, unless you've got a specific job that requires chat (and there are many specific jobs, i.e. tanks calling for a tranq shot, and many, many other things), I wonder if we could experience less chatter on vent during intensive boss fights. Further, if you're not a raid officer--myself included--I wonder if you might be willing to do the rest of us the courtesy of carefully considering your criticism and then sending it later that evening as a private message on the website. Public beratings over vent that come from people who aren't leaders just make me want to play less...not harder.
Let's joke around and have fun: Seriously, I'm the last one who'd advocate for no social chat in vent--you have no idea how even my career is built upon this tenent. However, when it be bidnizzz time, let's kill shit, get loot out, and THEN tell jokes about how we'd like to nail Atar's mom. (No offense Atar, and if it makes you feel any better, it's not her looks it's her personality that turns me on.)

Closer — Tue, 04/20/2010 - 16:13I totally agree with everything you said in your post Scaron. People need to worry more about their own jobs in raid and leave the instruction to the officers.
There is way to much talk in vent during boss fights some nights. If it was up to me I would globally mute those people. I would have to talk that over with the other officers first though but honestly we shouldn't have to do that to get people to be quiet during attempts.

Although, I'd like to see us blast through the first four wings really quick so we can get some good time on LK again this week. Lets be able to move quick tonight. I can see most ICC cleared before nine tonight.
On a side note. It's make or break time folks. We need to kill the Lich King. We should have already killed the Lich King to be blunt. It's time that everyone steps it up a level to make a Lich King kill possible. I am going to be a lot more straight forward starting tonight with everyone. If you want to be there and be apart of a Lich King kill you can't be that person that fails at defile 4 out of 5 times. You get the point. If this means we need to find someone else that can pay attention more then we'll have to go that route. Don't put yourself in that situation. Don't put me in that situation. Nice guy Atar is coming to an end really soon if people can't perform.
I'm pretty certain that we'll be in need of some fill ins tonight. These fill in spots can become regular spots for people if they can perform well and don't need their hand held through ICC. If you're an applicant and you're serious about raiding this could be a great chance for you to get some raiding time.
