Scaron — Wed, 09/01/2010 - 09:26As Resq suggested, I'd like to jot down a couple thoughts about how to proceed with Deathbringer tonight and in the future. Here are a few problems we often have:
1. Ranged spacing. It seems like this happens all the time but with different people. Shakos stands in the same spot every DB pull. Some nights that spot is not problematic, some nights, like last night, it is. We REALLY NEED to get it set up for him to be able to do his job more easily. He's got to be able to get in and out quickly to drop a trap. This needs to get fixed tonight, and be fixed forever.
2. Purple diamond takes forever to kill. This is probably not because no one is trying to kill it, but because it is out of range and gets a knockback. This problem compounds itself because this add often gets healer aggro and goes to town--because ranged hasn't been able to hit it and get aggro early.
3. Our poor boomkins are getting their faces eaten. In order to be in position for a knockback, they're right up front and the front add gets to them very quickly. This causes them to need to do knockbacks...probably contributing to the diamond add problem.
Here are a few things that we could do differently that I think might help us.
1. Shakos and Scaron switch positions. This would allow Shakos to be able to more easily hop in and set a trap in a position that the front add could be slowed for longer...giving our boomkins a little more time to kill shit.
2. I think that front add needs to have an extra ranged on it so it dies NOW. I would suggest that after I do my initial stun, I start in on that add so it dies faster. Alp would stay on our add and at least get aggro on it and I'll switch to it after the front add dies.
3. After the front add dies, everyone SHOULD have enough aggro on their respective adds so that healers shouldn't be pulling aggro any longer, also, this should allow us to do a knockback at this point.
4. ALL RANGED ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ADDS. Kinda like Blood Princes. If there's an add up and you're on the boss, you're doing it wrong.
5. I am cool with melee switching to adds--so long as there's not major blood power gains.
These changes might be useful whether we do it the old way or the new way.
If there are healing problems, I don't know what they are, so healers should speak up and get those issues fixed. This fight should be a very doable one for us, and frankly, if we can't do this fight in a few pulls we've got some very major other realities to deal with. The most notable of these realities is that we can't progress any longer in HM ICC. HM DB is a gate keeper, not being able to do this fight in a pull or two is a major problem because it stalls our progress toward HM Sindy and HM PP. We need to have 25 people doing their jobs properly to do this. If you have ANY question about what your job is in this fight, the time to ask those questions is here and now.
All that said, Wednesday nights are magical for Salmon, and I'd like to see some of the magic again tonight.

I really don't think we have to have S between us and the adds, especially with the knockback. I think it would be better if we were on the same side as our adds when using a knockback, or, if just trapping, then we could be opposite.

Alprazalam — Wed, 09/01/2010 - 11:47in order to do a proper knock back, you have to have Saurfang between you and your add. Say we were all standing on the side our add spawns at. Instead of the adds all coming together so they can knock back, they go zooming AWAY from eachother, which would lead in only 1 add (the middle add) getting knocked back.
In all honestly, once we split the adds up with melee, we shouldn't need a knockback. Me and Scaron by ourselves can nuke our add in 5 secs tops. Add a melee and technically it should cut it down to 3 to 4 second.
THIS IS THE KICKER!!!!! Melee has to stun their add if they are going to attack it. Technically, the adds should never come "unstunned" Right before Scaron's stun wears off is when melee needs to stun their target, so if they do have aggro, then it doesn't matter.
I do think we need to take a lil more time before the pull to get all the ranged and healers situated because we have new faces that have found a friendly spot yet.
