LOL G! Back in the day it was hell. I'd spend all day with a pin a paper on the armory looking at everyone's gear, spec, and enchants. Sending, literally, hundreds of PM's a week to people that "SAID", they wanted to raid. It was a very rough road. Then you've got to get everyone one on at the same time and make sure they understand the motive and know the loot rules. Let the QQ on loot begin! amirite???
Seriously though, start out with a dedicated 10man. Set up 2 to 3 nights a week where you guys run Karazhan and Zul'aman. Start off there and see what you think about it.
I would suggest the avenue of getting a dedicated 10-man kara/za fired up first before you dive into Third 25-Man Land.

In actuality, however, it's literally a second job....that you don't get paid for....that takes up all your free time.
It's hard, requires MANY dedicated and professional people. A 25-man raid takes a minimum of 40 people to get moving.
I recommend you show up to our weekend SSC/TK and Mag/Gruul runs to begin with to get a taste for raiding first.

Honestly, with as soon as WotLK is coming, I don't think there would be a whole lot of value found here. It would take AT LEAST a month to get going and then you'd only have another month or two before Wrath.
I actually would tend to agree with Shihli on this one (Serious shi, your avatar drives me nuts.... Its like.... a nazi with a mutant booger or something.....)
Sorry, got sidetracked.... Anywayz, I think the guild could use another 10-man progession-set because not everyone who needs badges (whether for off-specs, alts, guild-apps, etc) is managing to get into Atar'z ZA, Shi's 10-mans, or mAlt. However, if you really look at mAlt's weekend 25-mans we have four full avenues for guild-apps to progess, alts to gear up, and mains to get off-spec gear.
I could see a benefit to having a second SSC/TK during the weekends, but even that I doubt would get off the ground.
Finally, and yes, in Shihli's words, I'll be "That guy". A new 25 man raid would also mean new raid officers, possibly new loot rules, but most importantly a whole new set of core-raiders. Many of the 'call-ins' that are being done now are guild-apps. If a guild-app is a main-raider for over X-months, but never gets invited to the guild, (s)he is gonna stop showing up to raids. So before the discussion on a third 25-man would happen, I would recommend you ask to meet with the Guild Officers and G to see if they want to potentially invite another 25-40 core-raiders. If they are cool with it, and you have the patience, DDOOOOOO EEEEEETTTTTT!!!!!
However, these are just the opinions of a raider turned weekend-warrior.
When LF1M started, there was "enough" people to staff two mostly-independent raids. There was some raider-sharing early on and nowadays, we're mostly independent of each other.
However, both raids as of late have been lacking in DPS, as well as in healers from time to time. The "fill ins" we tap into in the guild are a VERY important asset, because without them, if *one* person took a vacation one day they'd fuck their whole raid - one person can single-handedly sink a 25-man raid without fill-ins.
Furthermore, how many people in guild right now want to do endgame, 3/4-nights a week raiding, and AREN'T already involved in Hamfist or LF1M?
There are many ups and downs to this Felsteel. It's the same when I started LF1M. Both raids need fillers. Therefore, we'd be getting folks in LF1M and Hamfist so we both can progress. Also, I know there are some people that don't raid regularly. This might be a chance for them to get some action. It's a HARD process to get a raid together from scratch. You'd be putting a TON of time into it. The question is, Are there enough people in guild to start a new raid? I'd say no, but I may be wrong.

Leading a new raid looks GREAT on paper.

This is a very very bad idea.

I count exactly ... zero.
What would be the goal of
starstalker — Fri, 08/29/2008 - 08:57What would be the goal of this new raid?
Who would you expect to lead this? Would you be willing to plan and organize this?
What do you expect to accomplish before WotLK?
Who do you expect would be your main raiders for this? Do you have any commits or ideas?
