Boann's blog
Gares and I are moving. Many of you may already know that from talking to us in vent or his posts on the Salmon sign up threads. You'll be hearing the same thing from us for a while, because we'll only be staying in our new place for about three to three and a half months.
We were living in Kiezer Oregon near my job, I don't drive, and with my BFF and her mate. I'm no longer employed, and my BFF wants to move home to save up lots and lots of cash to get a house with while the market is still fair. So Gares and I have moved down to Albany, where he was living before he moved to be near me, with his mom. She just got a nice little two bedroom home, and Gares and I are going to stay with her, help her with the bills and what not, and thus save on the expenses of having to get our own place for such a short time. This way at lest he doesn't have to drive an hour each way in getting to and from work.
See just before 'The Guild Meet-Up' we'll be moving back north, to Portland. As you all may have heard, Gares will be studying for his PhD, come this fall, at PSU. Hopefully we'll find a nice place and be stable for a few years after that. But in short, we are moving, and it's not going to be over for a while. ><;
Here is a snap shot of what is going to happen.

From Keizer to Albany is 32 miles, and from Albany to Portland is 73 miles. All in all we'll move roughly 115 miles in the next few months. Too much! The good news is I should have Gares' desktop set up for him by the time he gets off work tomorrow. My mom is going to help me get it with her awesome van. :)
My 'toon name means . . .

I've had a few people ask me about my 'toon so I thought I'd just throw a post up with some quick information. I ganked this straing from this site.
Boann in Myth
There are a couple of variations on the myth of the goddess Boann, but one element tends to remain the same - she was the wife of Nechtan, a god of the water. Likewise, Boann was herself a water-goddess, and one of her myths concerns the water. According to legend, there was a sacred well (Sidhe Nechtan) that contained the source of knowledge. All were forbidden to approach this well, with the exception of the god Nechtan (as was noted, Boann's husband) and his servants. Boann ignored the warnings, and strode up to the sacred well, thus violating the sanctity of the area. For this act, she was punished, and the waters of the defiled well swelled and were transformed into a raging river, a river that pursued her. In some versions, she was drowned; while in others, she managed to outrun the currents. In either case, this water became the river that was known henceforth as the Boyne, and Boann thereafter became the presiding deity.
Another aspect of the myth of Boann is that she bore Oenghus. She and the leader of the Tuatha De Danaan, the Dagdha, engaged in an illicit affair that resulted in the birth of this god of love. However, since both Boann and the Dagdha wished to keep their rendezvous a secret, they used their divine powers to cause the nine month gestation period to last but a single day - or so it seemed, for the sun was frozen in the sky for those nine months, never setting and never rising. On this magical day, Oenghus emerged into the world.
So yeah, I named my 'toon after a Celtic Goddess of water who has an interesting back story. :-D

If any of you find that you have five or ten extra minuets on the internet and just don't know how to spend them I've got a suggestion for you. Go take a look at my book review blog, Boann's leabhran ait, on blogger. I just reviewed Silverfall, by Ed Greenwood. This is a stand alone Forgotten Realms book about the seven daughters of Mystra. Thanks for taking the time to read my silly blog post. ;-D
