General Questions
Tell us a little of your history in WoW.:
I have been playing the game for years, many of which were spent raiding. I have been around since vanilla but did not reach the raiding content before TBC was released. I then played TBC until sunstrider isle came out and I was unhappy with my progression at that point and quit playing. I was very young at this time so It also was nice for my parents to stop having to pay $15 a month for their son to have no life. All of that time was spent on the server Icecrown, Time passed and WotLK came out. My old neighbor whom I used to play with told me how much they changed and I couldn't resist playing again. He also informed me he made the switch to alliance. I rolled a paladin, played him until about a week before Cataclysm came out. This was during high school and It was hard for me to make time for friends & raiding. Once cataclysm was in high gear my neighbor informed me that he switched to a pvp realm (TFC) and rolled a death knight & happen to be the #1 DK on alliance in our server. That got me interested, he then told me recruit-a-friend works to re-activate an account and that I would receive a level 80 boost. Rolled a worgen warlock and managed to kill deathwing. MoP was nearing and everybody was hyping over panda's, I was not, so I quit again. This christmas me and my buddy decided we have too much free time so we bought WoD and I went and bought a gaming laptop.
How do you feel about the state of your class in the game?:
Highly enjoy playing my warlock. Am not a fan of Demonology or Destruction, but Affliction has always been my favorite so I'm a little bias. Definitely the most fun I've had playing any of the classes but I miss my dual spec actually being useful, ie. Resto, Holy, Prot.
What led you to our guild and what would you like to accomplish with us?:
A friendly conversation that sprung from the trade channel with Ataraxia. I hope to progress as much through Mythic High Maul as possible before Blackrock Foundry comes out, as I would like to be in that percentage of clearing while the content is still fresh. I am in search of a guild I can call my home for the remainder of Warlords Of Draenor and hopefully whatever comes next.
Which days are you available for organized guild events? (Raids, RBGs, etc):
Monday
Tuesday
Wednesday
Saturday
UI
Upload UI:
Which addons do you consider essential and why?:
DBM, Recount, Healbot, & Omen are about my essential add-ons. They pretty much speak for themselves as to why I use them. These are not my only add-ons but the rest of them are fairly small things that simplify the game for my specifically.
What do you like in particular about the UI you are currently using?:
I like to keep it simple, in the past when I used to raid in the older expansions it has happened where I've had so many add-ons running that I could barely see what was going on in the actual game. It will probably happen again that I will over-run my ui with add-ons but for now I plan on keeping it simple with what I NEED.
PvE
Raid Experience:

During:
TBC everything but Black Temple
WotLK ICC 10 & 25 man cleared, foot in the door of heroic
Cataclysm Cleared everything, began heroics
MoP Absent for whole expansion
WoD 7/7 Normal

In WotLK on my paladin I went back and cleared everything that I didn't get a chance to when it was current, such as AQ20 AQ40, BT, all that fun stuff. Now that they boosted your legacy damage, I plan on going back and doing every single raid & boss encounter on my warlock, just for the achievements, as I would like for my main character to have done every dungeon/raid/boss possible.

Describe Your Playstyle:
My typical play style has been specifically with my Warlock since I came back to the game and have been working to gear up as fast as possible to be up to date on all of the end-game content. Have not had time to play my alternate characters. As affliction, my main rotation is to maintain my DoT's while throwing in seed of corruption/cataclysm while filling with Drain Soul. I utilize my CD's such as Summon: Terrorguard & DarkSoul: Misery as much as possible. I have every skill that would be expected in a raid fight bound to keys, I'm not the kind of player that remembers he has cooldowns to pop as soon as the target is dead.
What specializations do you have experience with?:

I am experienced with Affliction, familiar with destruction, careless about demonology.
I have raided with a Prot, Ret, & Holy Paladin.
Aswell as Resto, Enh, & Ele shaman.

I am most comfortable with Affliction Warlock, Holy Paladin, and Restoration Shaman.

What are your most and least favorite boss encounters?:
One of my favorite boss encounters was the gunship from wotlk. It was unlike the traditional boss fights and I enjoyed the twist they put into the game. I also enjoyed just about the whole entire Kara raid as it too was not your normal boss fights. Every boss that isn't a tank & spank I tend to like a little bit more as it requires strategy and coordination from each and every player. I like having to communicate with my team to kill a boss and it keeps everybody active and attentive. There are no encounters in particular that I dislike, yes certain bosses may cause wipe after wipe to in the end only reward with gold. Anything that challenges my skill and poses to be a royal pain in the ass, I invite in with open arms.
PvP
PvP Experience:
I am fairly experienced in PvP. I have not achieved a reputable rating in either Arena's or RBG's but that is solely for the lack of dedication to PvP. I would place myself in the above-average PvP player category for when I do PvP, I am always towards the top of the list. The Majority of my pvp'ing has been spent on my paladin as Holy/Ret and my Warlock as Affliction. I currently only put in time to cap my conquest points each week with the death knight I mentioned earlier in my application.
Is PvP your primary focus?:
PvE will always be my main focus. I am one that loves to take a break from Azeroth and spend hours in the same 6 arena's to grind out wins, I will occasionally throw in a BG here and there, as well as Rated BG's with one of my friends guilds'.
Are you interested in participating in guild rated battlegrounds?:
Yes
Personal
Is English your first language?:
First & Only
What timezone are you in?:
CST
Tell us a little about yourself.:
My name is Joshua, I am 20 years old and live in Wisconsin. I currently bartend/cashier at a fairly large chain of Bar/Liquor Stores in my town. I am also a part-time community college student going for a degree in Business Management. I have class mon-wed mornings. Currently I am taking those days off each week to make it easy for my classes, but once I find a set raid schedule I will likely request those nights off each week as my boss takes scheduling requests.

With the last week before BRF

Jg91694 — Mon, 01/26/2015 - 17:49

With the last week before BRF approaching quickly I was wondering if there was any further thought or questions anybody had for me.  I'd be more than happy to answer anything, talk to someone in-game, maybe do some heroics or something of the like to get an idea of my playstyle.  Kind of surprised how much attention my application is getting, I'd love to meet some of you guys, especially the fellow warlocks, maybe throw me some tips.  If anybody wants to add me, Aleona-TheForgottenCoast / livnxmen@aol.com is my accounts e-mail address.

I'm the Galaga raid lead. As Keith mentioned, we raid on evenings that could be a challenge for you unless your boss is chill.  We are the most casual raid of the 3 main raids in guild.  TH/SUN 9pm eastern and are at this point 6/7 reg, 3/7 H mode.  We have 2 warlocks, 1 mage and 1 shadow priest currently in raid as far as gear competition.  Sometimes we have an extra warlock and mage sporadically.

Soo, we could always use more uber rdps as we are not up to 20 yet for Mythic, but I wanted you to be aware of the numbers.  Also, you would be by far the youngest member in our raid.  Most are in their 30's and 40's with a few in their 20's.   We have a cohesive, fun group, but we don't tolerate nerd rage or enjoy puerile behavior.

All the best.

Galaga

Jg91694 — Sat, 01/24/2015 - 14:11

So far it looks like this group would be the best fit for me.  As your progression is about where I plan on being by the end of this week.  As for Thursday & Sunday nights that would likely be the easiest schedule for me to get.  Currently I am normally scheduled 2pm - 6pm Thursdays, And I had already requested I get sunday nights off due to having a 9am class monday morning.  Now me being CST your times actually work even better for me since I'm an hour earlier.  Lately my play schedule has been mostly nights, from about whenever I get off work till like 3-4 in the morning on nights I don't have class because I could careless to be awake during the day.  Now for me being 20 years old, you may think immature, nerd rage, dirty behavior, but I've been playing MMO's since about 1st grade.  I was playing everquest before I could even read comprehensively.  MMO's have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  Now you may be thinking "This kid's a ridicoulus nerd" but I'm about the complete opposite.  I can assure you I'll be one of the chillest members in the guild.  I may tend to be a bit talkative but never anything innapropriate or offensive.  It takes a LOT for me to get mad, and honestly, I don't think I could ever get mad about something in a video game.  I may be dissapointed in the outcome of gear distribution, but chances are I'll just stay quiet for a while.  I really hope you guys' find that I will be a good fit into this guild.  I really appreciate all of the input I'm getting from everybody and hope to show the improvements I've already made since this application.

Hi, fellow warlock here. How

Insta — Fri, 01/23/2015 - 20:02

Hi, fellow warlock here. How do you feel about switching to 3 specs constantly with these new patches? In the first few weeks of WoD, I went Destro and Aff until they buffed Demo, which currently is the dominating spec of all 3 atm except for Margok, since destro is always the king there. i ditched out Aff because demo wrecks aff in single target currently.

As a pure dps class, I think it's given that if this spec becomes better for x amount of fights, you should switch to it and get decent at it. Demo atm might be a bit complex than the other spec, but it gives you great results in the long run if you are able to get a hang of it.

I know it sucks that you have to switch, it's just a nature of it, and expect more changes to warlocks over time in this expansion. Affliction is no longer OP just like how it was in SoO where you can do 500-700k dps on Fallen Protectors.

If you have any logs, I'd love to see it.

Tonight

Jg91694 — Sun, 01/25/2015 - 03:32

Tonight I managed to go 5/7H & Gear up a decent bit, bumped up to ilvl657 and got a log from Kargath for ya guys.  Let me know what ya think, I played as destro tonight.

I'm aware I need to keep immolation up closer to 100%, Kargath was actually the last boss I did tonight and I'm falling asleep.

Besides the Immolate uptime,

Insta — Sun, 01/25/2015 - 12:49

Besides the Immolate uptime, it seems that the other warlock casted more Incinerates than you. You casted RoF 11 times, were you being fixated by Berserker Rush? Only time I use RoF on him is if he gets out of range -> i get closer -> RoF then continue casting. You also didn't pop your second pot.

Another important thing, you don't want to use Glyph of Dark Soul on Destro especially if you have a Sandman's Pouch. Sandman is 20s proc, so it really lines up with Dark Soul. The pvp trinket that gives you pure int proc is a good choice too if you want to get rid of the 630 ones you have. Besides that, the other warlock has a Copeland's Clarity which is a decent trinket for Destro so that gave him an edge.

This fight isn't really good for Destro since the other two specs can dominate this fight. Keep practicing demo or you can switch to Aff to get higher numbers, if that's what you want.

I'm pretty sure I went into

Jg91694 — Sun, 01/25/2015 - 14:50

I'm pretty sure I went into that fight only having 1 potion.  Last night was not a planned raid on heroic, was simply a PuG that I joined at the Butcher, had to stop at Ko'ragh, then I went and found a second group to go back and do Kargath.  As for RoF, pretty much casted it everytime I had to move somewhere/get outta the way.  I'm grabbing the pvp trinket on tuesday cause I just need a little bit more points.  As for the spec's, like I said after he mentioned to me about the demo/destro thing I've been playing around with them trying to get rotations down and see what kind of numbers I can do.  I was demo for a couple bosses last night but it just seemed like my dps wasn't anywhere close to what I wanted to be at.  I'm not sure if I'm missing something as demo or just doing it wrong but I can't seem to maintain good numbers with what I'm doing.  After all the gear I got last night I'm seeing a boost in dps, so tonight I planned on testing all 3 specs on the dummy to see which one is my max.

Specs

Jg91694 — Sat, 01/24/2015 - 14:16

Now that I've been playing around with destro/demo I deffinitely have no problem switching between all 3.  Once I get the hang of all 3 I plan to stick with the two I put out the highest numbers with.  As for new updates I plan on switching around to whatever is currently dominate.  For some reason I thought I wouldn't like demo as I rarely have seen many demo warlocks but just my inital impression after switching is it really adds some twists on the normal warlock rotation/set up and I'm really looking forward to mastering it.  As for log's I do not have any to show you as I am new to those, but on tuesday, maybe even before I can get one to ya.

Demo is the complex one of

Insta — Sat, 01/24/2015 - 14:25

Demo is the complex one of all 3 specs, you just need to practice wirh it. I even went to lfr a few times to refine my rotation and it really helps.

thanks on the update, logs are pretty useful to assess which things you need to improve on such as dots, havoc usage, cooldowns, and a bunch of stuff. make sure to use warcraftlogs since it's better than world of logs!

Affliction

Lilpuddinpop — Sat, 01/24/2015 - 06:42

Don't hate affliction so much. On single target fights you can easily be the top dps in your raid played correctly. Demo is decent but I prefer to play it on aoe fights such as tectus. I currently run affliction/destro and I really only use destro for imperator and on occasion when I am feeling spicy on brackensnore.

My advice to you is learn two specs and become very good at those two specs. One will be better than the other for some fights, but there is not a huge gap between the two viable specs for most fights(demo/affliction for everything but imperator).

I'm not hating on affliction

Insta — Sat, 01/24/2015 - 14:18

I'm not hating on affliction since I used it for single target before they buffed Demo. With the demo buff, it feels stronger in ST and AoE. Even on twins demo is doing good. You can move while using ToC in meta and the leap is a lifesaver when in dire situations. A demo lock on Brackenspore flamethrower duty was keeping up with me as Destro. I mean technically Demo is destro if you spec Demonbolt. it's cool to see a lot of people along for demo help on forums because they want to maximize their dps with it and I feel the same.

I mean it's not like Aff is hard or anything, but Demo is just strong right now that you want to use it for progression to help the raid down the boss.

Specs can make a significant difference like insta said

https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/z98XAj2awQvgBDGr#fight=2  logs Of a few warlocks just to check things out if you want :)

I am liking that you care this much and I think you could be a great add to the guild.

Demo

Jg91694 — Sat, 01/24/2015 - 01:48

Actually just talked to a lock today & I'm going to spec Destro/demo for now and see what kinda numbers I can pull and stick to the highest one.  I have absolutely no problem switching specs, only thing that matters to me is the dps meter.

Edit: Can't believe I stayed affliction after 100, demo & destro already seem like the better option.  Definitely can tell why Demo is the highest dps right now, can't wait to try it out in HM.

Ok,  i'm gonna be honest with

Grasen — Wed, 01/21/2015 - 15:22

Ok,  i'm gonna be honest with you here.  Reading the first paragraph on your app you talk about several times you quit th game. This naturally has me wondering how long till you quit again.

Let us be fair

KeithC19 — Thu, 01/22/2015 - 09:22

I have some concerns over this application but quitting was not one of them. I think he has a pretty natural pattern associated with his interest and departure from the game. The REAL question is how are you liking this expansion? What have you liked about this one that is different from the rest? What similarities or differences do you see here that the previous expansions did not fill? In order for you to not quit this expansion we would like to know where your intentions lead to.

My other concerns are your availability. I do not think you can raid full time in Galaga or Jamm. Also in order to progress you have to play the build best suited for the fight. It might be destu, might be demo, might be afflic. We all want to play what we find most enjoyable, but if your numbers are low, you have to be willing to make changes.

So far I am enjoying this

Jg91694 — Thu, 01/22/2015 - 17:59

So far I am enjoying this expansion quite a bit.  It looks like they did remove quite a bit from the game in an attempt to simplify end-game content & the classes to be more jump in friendly for everybody which I dont care for as I liked the game being complex & complicated.  Now as shallow as it sounds my huge thing that maybe you wouldn't say its what they others didn't "fill" it's more of the fact that the later expansion was being releases before I felt I was personally "done" with the current content/expansion.  With this one I think I'm jumping in early enough that I have a good chance to finish content and be ready for the next one when it comes to that point.  I'm one to take pride in saying I have done things others in the game have not been able too.  As for availability, the way my work schedule is now, it's been all over the place as I don't actually have any commitments at the time that requires me to select certain days off so I let my boss fill me in where needed.  I take raiding very seriously and once I find a guild that suits me I'll be able to request certain nights off of work for raiding as I have nothing else I need to request off for.  As for changing spec's for specific fights, that is not an issue for me, the only reason I prefer affliction is because that's all I've ever focused on playing.  Like I mentioned I've dabbled with destruction & demonology, as I wouldn't mind playing the two at all I just don't have a current reason too.  I understand both spec's enough that I could easily get used to them quickly and doubt my dps would slack with either.

Destruction

Jg91694 — Fri, 01/23/2015 - 19:16

I am spec'ing destruction right now to get more experienced with it, hopefully will be 2/7H by tonight.

Quitting,

Jg91694 — Wed, 01/21/2015 - 19:29

I understand how that can make you think that. But as I mentioned, I am now 20 years old. In the past my parents were the ones paying for my subscription, I was in high school, worried about being popular, as well as being social as much as possible. Now that I've grown up, I'm more settled into my life, I pay for this myself, I even bought my laptop just for the sole reason of playing WoW. Now that I go to college 3 days a week and have a job, I have no desire to spend the time I have free socializing as I have always loved the game I just had to quit knowing I wasn't going to be able to put the amount of time I wanted too into the game while my parents paid for it essentially wasting their money.
