I have done full runs through the first cataclysm raids, never done heroic modes in cata however. And that does unfortunately include the first boss of Twilight Bastion. I never got into firelands, and after that I did everything in LFR [excluding the last two of downfall] I only have done the first boss of Mogu'shen vaults on normal. I'd hate for you to think of me as less of a player for my progression, but much of gorg has died lately. And I really miss raiding, LFR is not raiding, its a zerg-rush of morons usually, that I have become a part of...

Anymore questions?

Auston — Thu, 03/20/2014 - 15:35

I am sorry for the procrastination, but do you guys have anymore questions or comments before I answer them? I have been waiting to answer them in bulk [I have all the patience, so iff you need to take your time]. If not I will get back soon.

I would recommend answering

Mehguy — Thu, 03/20/2014 - 17:57

I would recommend answering the questions we have already brought up.

This will be a back and forth process, and the more back and forth we do, the more it shows your activeness in the recruitment process.  Plus your answers may pop up additional questions. Waiting for all the questions to be asked at once so you can answer them all at once can take a while and may look as though you're not actively monitoring your application.

A few things I did think of, Manleychaps already addressed, which was your glyphs and gemming.

For any Warrior information, or other class information really, Ive been using http://www.icy-veins.com/ a LOT for information, especially since theyve enlisted the help of top ranked players who keep the class info updated almost monthly.  Lots of great information on there for rotations, reasons for certain abilities vice others, gemming/reforging, etc.  I would give them a look if you havent already done so.

For Addons, there is an one out there called  "ReforgeLite" that works really well.  It has defaule prot/fury/arms stats built into it so whenever you go to the reforger and select which spec you want to work on, it will pop up the best recommendations based on your current equipped gear and will do all the reforging for you.  Although the Prot War one is kinda iffy because it wants to default Mastery as best when you will want a Parry>Dodge>Mastery build for Riposte.  But that can be changed manually.

Another addon I would recommend is Skada.  I found it to be more accurate in tracking numbers than Recount.  Plus it I believe it utilize less memory than Recount as well.

arms

manleychaps — Wed, 03/19/2014 - 21:32

I to was a big fan of arms it really is a fun spec.  At low Ilevels is better for dps but there comes a point (at least for now) where if you want to go to the next level fury is the way to go.  It took me some time to switch but I am happy I did.  That siad for a flex environment arms could be viable.

As far as glyphs Unending Rage is the only one that i would say is 100% must have for any warrior. I myself like drath from above for some added mobilty (really helpful on thock and some other fights). as Mehguy says storm bolt is op so yeah :)

okay your gems all i have to say is crit is your friend! Your best friend.  as a warrior in some cases you gem only crit and forget socket bonus for arms you will keep colossus smash up more and for fury enraged all day long.  really the the bigest thing as a warrior keeping that up as much as posable.

enchant yes get some :P also you should check out https://www.askmrrobot.com/ for gem and reforge ideas

for any raid you sould run atleast DBM for adons and if you are looking for a liter dps meter a lot of guys are running skada insted of recount (myself inclued)

do you still tank? do you have a set?  if not you may want to try out a fury spec just to play with but if you dont have a second 2hand just hold off tell then.  last if you are 100% sold on arms i have been watching some of the top guilds garrosh kills and arms warriors have started showing up on some kills but rember its late in the patch :).

good luck hit me up if you have any questions

ps sorry about my bad spelling hardcore dyslexic here

I highly appreciate the

Auston — Fri, 03/21/2014 - 12:45

I highly appreciate

the information, I am a bit out of date with warriors stat wise when its come to gems so I will start gemming crit right away, as for my offspec, unfortunately I am tank, I have for the past month been considering becoming a fury warrior and trying it out again, since the last time I was first went all the way back to WoTLK, I thought it was best to go with the devil I know for this expansion [also I for some odd reason wasn't good at fury, its also nothing I really got into] If it comes to the point in time where I cannot reach my maximum potential unless I go fury then I shall without question adapt to the changes. However, I really would like to do that next expansion, because if in case I haven't mentioned it before I do have a Tank Spec still, and the gear is pretty up to date [LFR wise anyways...] Also I do both pve and Pvp because when I pay for this game, I kinda want the whole experience so I find arms to fit the bill. However, if need be as I said earlier if my spec holds people back I will change it.

Now as for Addons. DBM, I will get it, but to don't it the wrong way if I said I was used to not having it. Reason being I am highly alert during boss fights and I generally know whats going on by boss quotes mainly. I suppose it would be really nice to see when the stuff is going to pop up before hand.

Never heard of Skada, but I am always willing to try out new things.

Thank you for your help again, I really needed it.

Damn

Mehguy — Tue, 03/18/2014 - 20:32

Very thorough app and very impressed.

Like I mentioned last night, to my knowledge there are no firm available raiding slots, which works for both the guild and yourself due to the current state of your character and our rosters. Plus your raiding availability. But since you are only available Saturday, that fits in with our weekly Flex run that I mentioned. Its a good place to get to know a lot of our community and get that raiding experience in since you are limited in gear and time. If you are planning on switching to a raiding role when WoD hits, that is something that us raid officers will evaluate when the time comes. Just take into consideration of your school schedule and your ability to fully commit to the raid schedule.

I admire your attachment to Arms, I switched to Arms back during Dragon Soul and loved the Stance Dancing aspect and it was just overall fun as hell to play. I haven't tinkered with it much this expansion as Fury is overall better for DPS than Arms since MoP released. Arms is still viable.. but looking at end-game heroic progression, Fury takes the cake. I also have grown a fondness for Bladestorm, It has a lot more practical uses in SoO than most people think. However, I'm a little questionable on Avatar... at least for Fury, using Storm Bolt in your rotation on CD in conjunction with Colossus Smash is a VAST DPS increase over anything with Avatar. However, not sure how it works/fits in with Arms.

As for your gear situation, if you are brought in, that is something that will be expected to be corrected fairly quickly. Even for flex, we do carry some alts, but we expect them to be gemmed/enchanted to the best that they can be. We try to treat Flex as a normal raid, albeit a fun one.

Glad you are 18, we have a strict rule about member age. Its just easier to have all members over that point so we don't have to deal with parents, bedtimes, having to censor guild chat/forums, etc.

A little concerned about how long you're planning to stay. I'm glad your honest, but curious as to what you would consider a "critical reason" to leave. Could that be unable to get a spot in a raid with WoD hits? Guild neglect when you ask to go to a PvP/world raid/etc event? Are you easily offended by jokes of a sexual/racial nature? (Note we do not tolerate sexual/racial harassment towards ANY members)

That's all I really have for now. I'll try to see if I can scrounge anything else up a bit later.

Clarifications

Auston — Fri, 03/21/2014 - 14:04

Id like to clarify that I can raid almost any day of the week, I didn't know how to mark multiple days on the application so I apologize for the confusion. My school career is almost over, I do have a school schedule. But I never really have it interfere with my in game schedule at all, I have strategies if it ever did. However I am a weekend guy, I can ordeal any other days but weekends are just a weight off my shoulder, it will probably be the same way in college too, but an afternoon raid isn't much of a stretch. In fact I prefer raiding during the week, it gets the day moving, time flies when you are having fun. [Also when WoD comes out, I will be long out of school, unless college counts.]

If a raid spot is available during WoD and I pray there will be, I would have absolutely no problem switching roles. I would also like to mention I have other max level toons that can fit alternative spots [Hunter and Paladin]. As for Mist of Pandaria, it would be nice at some point to get in a real raid, but I ain't going to be irate if I don't get a spot. A spot in flex raid is a hell of a lot better then LFR, in fact I am quiet grateful to get the hell out of LFR. And also I too would consider Flex a normal raid, generally I consider every instance with ten or more people a raid, LFR or not and I would generally treat it as so. Most the gear I got on my warrior that is un gemmed and what not is actually rather new, the shoulders and what not. I also wanted to get a little bit more research of what to gem and stuff.

AS for Storm Bolt and Avatar, I will look into trying out storm bolt probably today, and Avatar, I guess I liked the idea of that damage increase to have it stack with my beserker rage. I will compare the two.

I too am glad I am eighteen, I finally get some damn liberty you know? I respect the strict age rule but I would just like you guys to know  a little secret, my parents were into the game for a while too, so even as an infant they respect and coordinated the schedule with my school and sleep. We don't have to do those things anymore of course, but I learn to handle it on my own which is a good thing that I was trained to organize my time. Also my parents practically got me into the game... A lot of my family played so its kinda cool and weird I guess that's perceptional.

As for the reason of leaving, its beyond mine, yours or anyone's predictions. I am not saying I will or won't I am just saying I cannot make promises. I can promise that I won't make a huge hissy fit and just walce out, a critical reason is basically my way of saying anything that could be well reasonable excuse to leave that could happen. But also couldn't.. [well I am sorry if this paragraph is confusing or anything, but what I am trying to say is if anything were to come up, things happen. for the most part I look forward to staying.] I highly respect your rules for harassment, a lot of guilds lack that, and its something I definitely stand for in and out of the game.

Hit me up with anymore questions, and I didn't mean to be lazy or anything so sorry for getting back a bit late.

Firstly, welcome to the app

Elapsed — Fri, 03/21/2014 - 14:22

Firstly, welcome to the app process. I've been keeping tabs on your app since Mehguy told me about you.

1) Flex is every Saturday 6pm PST, invites go out 10-15 mins prior (by me Elapsed) You're invited even if you don't join the guild for some odd reason.

2) I'm not going to comment on warrior crap just because I have no idea what to say, that's why I have Manleychaps and Mehguy around, to trust they will ask all the right questions.

3) Our age rule while being concerned about schedules and whatnot is more about making sure we don't say anything over mumble that a stray parent walks by and hears and then we become the evil people negatively influencing their children. Your being 18 makes life easy.

4) mumble.sourceforge.net get mumble for your system. and hit me up when I'm on for server info. It's a requirement for raids along with DBM (or bigwigs)

Thanks

Auston — Fri, 03/21/2014 - 14:46

I will get things ready as soon as I can, I am really grateful for this invitation.
Also, I don't really understand why parents get all serious about the whole "influence" gig, I mean, I am assuming most these kids go to public school [and there is some very horrible influences in the youth of the nation]
Again, thanks everyone for everything, going to mess around with my warrior and see how good I can get him.

I'll skip the standard cliche

Elapsed — Fri, 03/21/2014 - 14:59

I'll skip the standard cliche "you'll understand when you're older" and see what I can't do to describe the inherent flaws in that comparison.

Well look at it from a couple of angles. First, you've put in considerable resources to procreating and raising your child. So you obviously only want the best for your child.

People in a video game negatively influencing your child makes the video game a straight up negative in most parents eyes. Regardless of how it promotes team work, hand/eye coordination, and advanced problem solving skills.

Public schools may have some worse negatives, but in a parents eye their kid is going to school to learn what it takes to be an adult in the world. Critical thinking is greatly evolved there and history teaches us the mistakes our ansestors made so that we might learn from them. If you balance out the positives and negatives, for most children it's a net gain.

Also parents feel they have very little control over the public school system. Most can't afford private schooling, or don't want to afford it, and so must accept what they can to make sure their children have a fighting chance.

In short, they have to deal with you going to public school, they don't have to deal with WoW.
