Which addons do you consider essential and why?:
I do not mind using mods or custom ui. Right now I just have stock ui, as it does not bother me. To me sometimes custom ui's are more clutter. But that is just how I feel. I like to keep things simple and to the point.
PvE
Raid Experience:
Back in TBC I ran Kara, Gruul, Mag, and Hyjal with a full clear in all of those raids. I actually played a pally back then and was Holy. So I have experience healing raids. In WOTLK I mostly only ran Naxx and Ony, before I shortly quit for awhile until after Cata came out.
PvP
PvP Experience:
I never do anger outbursts. I just try my best to try and make things right. If not I just let them be and finish out the rest of the bg.
Is PvP your primary focus?:
I would like to do rated bgs, and raid.

What timezone are you in?:
Oklahoma USA
Tell us a little about yourself.:
I am currently a college student, going for a major in Computer Science, and a minor in Math. This is actually my last year. I am working on my Capstone where I have to develop and design my own software and present it to the CS department. In my free time I generally play wow.

what spec are you useing for

what spec are you useing for pvp and how is your pvp gear comeing along?

Feral for pvp

Gentoo — Mon, 03/14/2011 - 03:08

I haven't had a chance to set up a pvp spec as of right now as I used feral for leveling and heroic dps. But I do plan on looking a feral spec and going with that for pvp. If needed I would also go healing either is fine with me. Just depends on what is needed at the time. I also have a 85 warrior I wouldn't mind pvping with as arms of course since that is the suggested pvp style for a war. Right now I don't have any pvp gear as I have been busy with school and haven't got to play very much. I am hoping I will be able to jump in here in about a week and work on that.

So to answer your question, I don't have a certain spec right now, or any pvp gear. :(

Nice reflexes, and good job for covering the asses of some sorry ass tank and heals!!! lol Looking forward to seeing more of ya. ;)

Your applying to raid it

Grasen — Tue, 03/08/2011 - 17:57

Your applying to raid it says,    To me if someone is applying to raid they need to come app ready to raid.   while dropping those last few greens can be a time thing and that I can over look, I cannot overlook no gems and no enchants.   If you were applying to be a casual player in our guild then maybe,   But with "LF Raid" in the title of your app these are things I simply cannot over look.    This app needs to go on hold till you can make yourself "Raid ready"  Untill then apping to raid is wasting our time,

I understand

Gentoo — Fri, 03/11/2011 - 01:42

I understand your concerns. In fact I am actually applying at this time to be a Casual Player. I am sorry if the title it misleading, I was merely stating what I would like to get out of the guild. My friends suggested I applied early on so I would be able to get in and then when I was ready I would be able to start raiding. I am also trying to build up my PVP set so that I may join the PVP side of the guild aswell. The reason I am applying to this guild at this time is I want to start getting to know the players that I may one day be raiding with, or PVPing with. I know the fact remains i'm not ready(gear wise) for either of these two, but I plan on being one day soon. I just was hoping to get my foot in the door. I'm not wanting to join and hop right into either of these two.

Again I am sorry if I was misleading and sorry if I wasted your time.

Don't be sorry man.

cromi — Fri, 03/11/2011 - 02:16

Don't be sorry man. Personally I enjoy any sort of class or spec convo that I can actually pretend that I know what the hell I'm talking about, and I don't believe in wasted time. Except for watching nicholas cage movies. Um hit my character cromianiac up in guild. Talk your spec and shit over.

This is cromi. I'm a Druid!

cromi — Sat, 03/05/2011 - 02:08

This is cromi. I'm a Druid! Being a friend of Theano gives yah props, and bewilderment is in guild : P. Try to spew this out at 1 am. Might come back later to look again.

Well first off, Grid. It's an amazing addon and it will improve your ui in every way possible. As a druid I use it with clique and mouseovers. Clique+grid is perfect for druids because you can pair hots with it and your cleanses.

Now onto your gear. I see you still have a few greens I'll just give you a week or two before I look into gemming because it's no use looking into that while  it's not ready.

On your spec you chose to put points into rejuvination talents. But you didn't put points into swift rejuv and you certainly don't have the haste. What's the reasoning to put points into natures bounty, and genesis: why into those and not into something like Moonglow, natures cure, or natures swiftness, or naturalist?

Thanks for feedback

Gentoo — Sat, 03/05/2011 - 16:47

First thanks for your feedback. I'm glad I have a druid that will be able to help me along the way. I have just hit 85 so I am currently working on my gear. I still have a lot of greens and low ilevel blues that I need to replace. I am currently running heroics as much as I can to try and find replacments.

The reason I chose the rejuv is I just like to prefer to dot up anyone taking dmg. So far my rejuv ticks for alot and helps a lot in 5man heroics. And I know while I obtain more gear with haste it will make it all the better. The thing with Swift Rejuv is I honestly didn't see a difference with it. The .5 seconds to me seems to be a waste where I could put that point somewhere else, like Genesis to help my rejuv and swiftmend ( the main spells I use the most ).

With Natures cure, I saw it as a waste aswell, because I am going to be gearing for raid ( If I can get into a guild, perferably this one :) ) and it offers no mana reductions like the ones pallies, and shammies, get so I didn't think I would really need it because it would just burn my mana down.

With Natures Bounty it gives my Regrowth a higher chance to crit. That is the main spell I use when I see my tank is taking a lot of damage and I have clear casting up. Most of the time it will proc and proc living seed plus a short heal over time, so to me it seems very good to have.

Natures Swiftness I had at one point, but I noticed I never used it because I rarely have to cast nourish or healing touch, because my HoTs and swiftmend generally keep up the tank in Heroics.

And moonglow, I have thought long in hard on this one, I didn't spec into it becuase I decided to give Heroics a try to see how my mana usage is. Right now in 5 man heroic I barely ever have to stop and drink or take a break for mana. I don't even have to use my inntervate. Now I know it may be different for raids, but as for now I am doing great with my mana and saw no need to take this talent when I could take Genesis.

Thank you again for your feedback and any help would be appreciated. I hope I answered your questions on why I specced the way I did, and if not please ask again and I'll try and answer the right way. I know I may have to respec when I raid, but for 5man heroics this spec is doing wonders for me.

I look forward to hearing more from you in the future. Thanks :)

Rejuv can be a strong heal,

cromi — Sat, 03/05/2011 - 22:22

Rejuv can be a strong heal, Spamming it can be a different story and in that case moonglow is a good talent to take. As far as the swift rejuv it is a good point to grab. That .5 seconds is not effected by haste and it effects your GCD. And you can heal more .5 seconds faster. especially in raids if you're pairing your rejuvination with a swiftmend to proc on non-tanks for efflorescense it adds both speed and throughput.

I would say it's a good idea to take natures cure. I thought about taking points out of it. But it adds alot of versatility. If you're in a 25 man then yeah you can talk with other healers about cleanses. But in 10 mans it's a good idea to take so people can get cleanses out that much faster. Cleanses are always something that I see myself needing to work on. At the very least the spell costs 3k mana for me which means that 1 cleanse would be better than 3 lifeblooms or a rejuvination.

Glad to see you're taking natures bounty for the crit chance on regrowth and not any other reasons. You may already notice that your healing will take a large jump when you have multiple clearclasting proccing. And that will help with that. Though it really is a preference in healing.

Natures Swiftness is still a good point to take. Depending on how you heal. Druids are not blessed with many large heals. Most healing classes have an instant large cd they can burn in dire situations. Druids do not. We have a tree but to cast multiple regrowths in tree will burn mana and swiftmend is a cd we use when available and tranquility is a cast and it's hard to burn that for a tank if the raid is not all taking damage. Natures swiftness is also only a 20-30k heal. So it can be pretty weak. But I like to have something that I can use in a bad situation.

Moonglow is a good talent to take. It adds more mana efficiency, imo it adds and retracts more throughput. If you're working on keeping mana for the upside of 5-7 minutes then every point counts. Especially in different phases. But I know druids who don't put points into moonglow and gain more throughput.

On to your spell priority. What spells are you casting more than others? Is this a reason you didn't put spells into naturalist?

Sorry for delay

Gentoo — Tue, 03/08/2011 - 16:52

Sorry its taken a while to get back to you. I've been swamped with homework and midterms are this week so haven't really had much time to concentrate on anything else.

You make some very good points and will make me take another look at my spec. I noticed running heroic vortex made me wish I had cleanse for the last boss as that posed a serious problem when he roots you to the ground before casting hurricane type thing.

As for moonglow when I start raiding I will probably take that over the other talent. But just for 5 mans right now my mana pool stays where I like. But I can see where it would be a problem for 10mans.

That Natures Swiftness is still a little on my skeptic side. When I see the tank start dropping I can usually pop regrowth which will give me 30% haste pluse the bonus I get for having 3 rejuvs up which makes my cast time on my ht pretty low. I can see in dire situations where somone is about to drop, but I never think about popping natures swiftness. Maybe I just need to get in a different mind set.

Right now my spell priority consists of keeping 3 stacks of lifebloom up on the tank so I can get clearcasting, keeping a rejuv up on him, and just throwing a swiftmend and a nourish here and there. As for the dps if I see them taking dmg just put rejuv on them and wildgrowth if they all are taking dmg. And hopefully a swiftmend if they are grouped together. In extreme cases if I see everyone taking a lot of damage I pop tranq. And with this new patch that lowers tranq to 3mins I may start using that more often when needed, instead of saving it for rare cases.

Again sorry for the long delay in the reply. You know how real life gets sometimes. I hope I answered all your questions. If no, please feel free to ask again and I will try and get back to you as soon as I can.

RL Friend App: Addons needed

Theano — Fri, 03/04/2011 - 22:54

Ollie Williams here with an important UI update,

Thanks Ollie...

First and foremost, I'm glad to see you finally applying to the guild.  Your interface is needing the Grid addon since it is the one our raids primarily use.  Even if you don't like looking at it, you still need to have it.  If you want to keep that Healbot feel (/shudder) you can always download Clique.  In addition to Grid you need to have GridStatusRaidDebuffs.  It will show you what is on your raid members and whether or not you can dispel it.

I'm not sure if you have Quartz or not as well.  Keeping yourself casting nonstop is going to be a common thing, and having Quartz helps you to stay in the rythm by giving you a red time window in which you can start casting your next spell.

DBM will be needed, as well as Omen (probably not Omen so much for you since you're planning on healing).  Other than that, there's not a lot of required addons for our raids.  I'm sure there will be some Druid experts on here shortly that will scour your app and spec and gear to offer advice towards improvements as you go through this recruiting process.

Join the chat channel dfrecruit to keep yourself in touch with our guildies for opportunities to show your prowess in bg's, heroics, and other such opportunities.

Other than that, I'd like to see my rl friend here in guild so lets get this ball rolling :D

I agree with Ollie and

Iteabagyou — Sat, 03/05/2011 - 12:16

I agree with Ollie and Theano... we are glad to have you back on WoW and applying to our guild. Get the addons people are telling you to *i'm sure Steven will be more than happy to set you up seeing is how he's got real good at making sexy ui's* and don't be afraid to ask some of these other druids why they chose the spec they have.

I don't think they will be to judgemental with your gear atm seeing is how you just hit 85 with this guy so they should give you time with gear, gems, and enchants. Besides, you have me helping you and it won't take long to get the shit you need.

Lastly, i'm really hoping you get in and get to raid with me and Theano like we've been talking about... we really needed a permanent raider *a healer especially* for Drama Bomb. I'll see if i can pull some strings in here and get you a quick invite so we can get thing's a rolling for you.

GOOD LUCK BUDDY!

Honestly, it's time for the

Pelana — Sat, 03/05/2011 - 12:49

Honestly, it's time for the "Go get Grid" thing to die. The default raid frames have come a long way and most of the functionality that made Grid mandatory in the past is now built in. Most of the stuff that Grid can do that the default can not is fluff nowadays anyway. For example, at least 2 of GEL's 3 healers run with DBM only in the addon department. I would be more concerned with spec, personality and, to a lesser extent, gear than this, which has so far been practically the only thing mentioned in all the posts here.

With that said I don't know crap about druid healing these days so I can't comment there. If you still need some gearing though hit me up (on Pelana or Storian) for some heroics.

Scaron — Sat, 03/05/2011 - 17:14

This. ^^

I use grid, but frankly performance matters, addons don't.

In the words of a former GM, "You could raid with feces smeared all over your screen but if you can turn out the DPS/HPS and not stand in things that make you die you'll be fine.

I'm going to agree with the

Alprazalam — Sun, 03/06/2011 - 06:40

I'm going to agree with the whole get grid thing to die as well.  Its a nice addon if you want a more customizable raid fram.... but its isn't a NEEDED addon anymore.

GRID

Gentoo — Tue, 03/08/2011 - 16:53

Thank you all who disagree. I personally don't like grid, I don't see a problem with the built in raid frames. I dont' see my healing being any different with or without grid. But if they absouluty need me to have grid I will break down and get it....i suppose.
