Blindshot — Wed, 09/15/2010 - 10:58I just got back from travelling and decided against waking up early for raids and such partially to what some guild members have said and me wanting to go ahead and focus on my studies, but i still do want to join the guild to maybe get into to some 10mans or 25mans pugs on weekends and this being an all around great guild I'd very much like to join it than the majority of the guilds out there.

Here's my big "however" though.
I have absolutely no problem with young folks in guild, I mean, Sargus is like 6 and he raids. However, I am somewhat anxious about placing expectations on a 15 year old that he would show up on time (4am his time) to raid on a regular basis, even if the raid schedule could be worked out. I think there's a certain responsibility we have as DF members to look out for situations like this...so I wanted to throw this out there. At a time in one's life when sleep is of great biological importance to one's cognitive development, this causes me concern.
That's not to say I wouldn't love to see him in guild. He seems nice! I just would have reservations about putting expectations of consistent attendance on the guy.

Praetahim — Tue, 08/24/2010 - 10:52I've known Blinshot for a while now and even seen him hosting a few Raids on his own. Although I agree 100% with you about the age and sleep issue Scaron, I'd also hate to see great talented and a friendly, qualified raid slip through your fingers. So here is my proposal: let him try out for the guild, if he can maintain a consistent raid schedule leave it up to him. And if not, use him as a back up dps when he's avaiable and see if DF can get him into some 10m HM's so to help fill that gap when he can't be there for regular 25m's. Just a point, an idea. If it works out well for him great if not I do wish him the best of luck out there and I am sure he'll find himself a great guild that can raid more on his time.

leaveing early every raid

We dont recruit for our 10 man raids, If he cant make our raid times with a solid commitment for 25 man then I honestaly dont think we would have a place for him. Trying out for guild is the app process. If I read this correctaly our raid times are right before you go to school? I don't personally feel comfortable with that. Last thing we want is wow interfearing with your education and it seems to me that would be the case raiding with us. I think you really need to rethink your apping here
I dont think we can take him for raid, 14 wakeing up at 4 am to raid seems like a horriable idea. I honestaly think this would affect his schooling far more than we would be willing. Without any other solid guild friends I'm gonna have to enter a no vote on this app at this time.

On a totally unrelated note, as someone who pretty much uses the stock ui (sue me!) I'm baffled as to how can you see anything with all that clutter on the screen! How would you know if you're standing in blue fire or red fire?

Blindshot — Tue, 08/24/2010 - 00:30Well that did use to be a problem for me as far as seeing, i then got a new comp which could handle highest wow settings and got my camera scrolled back as far away as i could, now i can see the fire clearly know if my char is in fire and DBM and MIKscrolling battle text alert me if im in fire and such.
and to make another point when using this ui set up i don feel that too much info is on the screen while on the other hand it helps me maintain it
and i think i could make all days if any1 could tell me how long u guys raid for, if its 2hours or 2 hours and ahalf i can make most raids.

lleme — Wed, 09/08/2010 - 19:35see again..that comes down to what scaron and grasen are saying..we understand your willing to raid..but its the fact you have to wake up that 3 hours earlier for raids and then leave early for school..i agree with grasen..id say just focus on schooling..cause theres no sense screwing up your education for a game..but again..its all your choice..but i dont see you getting in on raiding..if you can keep active and keep busy on your app you just may make it in..all the best to you..but my vote is no..sorry
