If you need a tank, you need
Shihli — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 14:02If you need a tank, you need a tank. He doesn't need to have a <Downfall> tag over his head to do it.
I'm ultimately neutral here. Mendaren isn't a bad guy and he's got a lot of friends in guild, but he is INFAMOUSLY unreliable when it comes to actually sticking around.
On the one hand <Downfall> shouldn't be in the habit of ginviting anyone and everyone after one decent raid night, as has occassionally happened in the not-so-distant past. Likewise, <Downfall> should also not be treated like a revolving door and be so willing to reinvite people that decide to leave to find greener pastures, only to find they can't find them.
comment's a good dude
poisondonut — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 13:36I've run with him alot and I think it would be nice to have him in guild. If the issue is the possibility of a gquit, then there would be no point ever inviting anyone because that's always a possibility. We invite terrible players we hardly know after 1 night of fill in raiding, only to have them quit the game entirely and still have a <downfall> tag over their head. I don't see what the big deal is honestly. Good player that would be a benefit to have in downfall. I'd take Comment any day over someone yelling "let's do it live" to the point I'd like to drill a hole in my temple and pour maple syrup inside.
A) Aelysia is no longer in
Shihli — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 13:48A) Aelysia is no longer in guild.
B) Mendaren has been in guild at least three times before.
C) Every time he has been in guild, he has summarily gquit to "play with friends" or "find a group to raid with" or what not.
The big deal is, Mendaren has been given every possible opportunity to be in <Downfall> over the past few years and every time he's joined, he's gquit for myriad other reasons.
Is he a good player? Yes. Would he be a benefit in <Downfall>? Possibly.
Is he likely to bail on us again? If history says anything, yes.
Michael Irvin
poisondonut — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 13:52was an amazing WR who was caught up with drugs over and over again. But he's been clean for awhile and holds a steady job as a commentator. History cannot predict the future.
well sure

Notice that Michael Irvin
Shihli — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 13:56Notice that Michael Irvin isn't playing football anymore.
Need to reiterate
Shihli — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 13:50Mendaren has been in the guild many, many times. This isn't a matter of him gquitting one time and wanting to come back. I think this would be his ... fourth? Fifth? Time being reinvited to <Downfall> were his application to be accepted.

Hello sir or madam, and
Aidin — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 09:11Hello sir or madam, and welcome to the Downfall recruitment process. If you fancy a quick invite, have thin skin, or like purps over people then don't waste your time reading what follows, just press on now. If you are a skilled player, or even a player in need of a little molding, and you have time to dedicate to dead bosses, and to a community of people that do more together then play a video game, then here's a few things for you.
Recruitment Process
Step 1 Application : Well you've already completed this step by taking the time to complete our lengthy application. Some think it's silly, we have documented proof that it easily weeds out the douchebags before wasting too much of our time.
Step 2 Who are you? : Type /join dfrecruit in game. This will put you in our global chat channel for recruits. You'll find lots of Downfall members in that channel often shouting for people for random heroics. This will get your name out there, let people get to know you. The more people you get to know, the more people will begin to comment on your application, and thus keep it "alive"
Until you start to get comments from those who excel in your class, or those who have nice/not so nice things to say about you as they get to know you, it's up to YOU to keep your application active, it's not just a matter of posting and never coming back, we are a website oriented guild, get used to using it.
Step 3 Be There : Be online during raid times, its even better if you're on from start to finish, since people will DC mid raid. If you're apping to raid, it's a long and grueling process. We DO need consistant skilled players for both 25 man raids, and you're not the only person trying to get that spot. What we like to see is our apps posting on the raid events that they are available to fill in on a given night. Then if you've posted that you're going to be on that night, make sure to shout our a reminder in dfrecruit just as raid is about to start just to let us know you're on. It may be weeks, it may be months before you see action, but you may end up with a spot the first time you join the recruit channel.
All questions regarding raid invite status for Kitten Brigade should be directed Zariyah in game, or alt Sainttaryn.
All questions regarding raid invite status for Salmon should be directed Ataraxia.
Please do not bother the other raid leaders, they have lots to do already.
Well that's what you can expect for the next few weeks/months. We've had applicants that have waited over 3 months for an invite, we've invited people within a few days, every situation is different. So get you're name out there, get some comments, and good luck to you!
Comment quit <Downfall> on
Kognus — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 05:43Comment quit <Downfall> on his paladin a number of months ago to PvP with some friends. He had intended to leave his other characters (that he still played on with other guildies on a regular basis) in guild, but they were removed for understandable reasons which I don't personally agree with. I have explained these reasons in the past and as far as I'm concerned it is water under the bridge. I have discussed his returning with him in game and I think that at this point he has a desire to rejoin the guild and be a part of its future long term. He is a nice guy and an excellent paladin who would be an asset to the community as well as to any raid group that he is a part of. Furthermore, he is one of my best and oldest friends in game. I see no downside to inviting him back.
This is just my opinion.
I'm confused.
Aeolyn — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 08:08Why does someone have to /gquit in order to PVP with friends? I still manage to BG spam okay with friends outside of the guild. I don't see why Arena play would be any different.
If you feel like you
Onrique — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 11:30If you feel like you contribute nothing to the guild you are in, I can understand the desire to try and find a home that you feel like you can contribute more to. If I ran a 10 man with another guild, and did arena with another guild, and wasn't in a 25 man raid in Downfall, then what am I doing in Downfall?
For what it's worth, Ive done some arena matches with Comment, and i will say that he is very skilled and seems like a pretty nice guy.
Comment/Mendaren has also
Shihli — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 12:40Comment/Mendaren has also been in the guild many times in the past, has gquit many times in the past, and if reinvited I would see little reason for him to change that behavior.
@Comment
Shihli — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 03:37Didn't you gquit?
I did gquit. The original
Comment — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 09:58I did gquit. The original owner was in Downfall at the time, not me. I think you had actually asked Kognus why I was still in the guild and hadn't left already and when you have a thought like that hanging over your head it doesn't leave a lot of room to want to stay in the guild. I had interaction with some people, knowing only a few names and didn't honestly feel at home at the time. So I made a new guild with the people that I was doing arenas with just to be able to hang out. However, since being able to develop a likeness to those I've been able to raid with or group with through 10 mans and daily heroics and even a small amount of BGs, it's a lot easier to feel among friends in Downfall. I respect decisions that are to be made. Anyways, I was just checking to see if any comments had been made before I went to work so I must be headed off for now.
Gquit? How come I don't
Aidin — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 09:13Gquit? How come I don't recognize the name? I thought I knew everyone...damn.
I believe this is Mendaran
Dragon — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 09:52I believe this is Mendaran and it is Darkspeed's old paladin who was given a name change upon the change of ownership.
If this is Mendaran, he has
Gares of War — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 11:28If this is Mendaran, he has quit NUMEROUS times from Downfall for PVP, boredom, more progressed guild, etc. etc. I don't think he is a bad guy at all, but you need to give a hell of a good reason why you should be brought back. Guilds are communities, and not some stepping stone to the next best thing, or at least, that is my opinion.
I have known Dan (Comment)
Craeg — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 19:48I have known Dan (Comment) for about 5months now. I can tell you that Darkspeed/Mendaran doesn't not play that account anymore. From what i know Darkspeed/Mendaran quit WOW to play Aion (good move there). Then Darkspeed/Mendaran gave Dan (Comment) his account to play. Now i know I'm 100% right about this because Darkspeed/Mendaran has come back to WOW and created his own account. Yes, Darkspeed/Mendaran is back, but on another account.
Mendaren is Dan's original
Kognus — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 19:51Mendaren is Dan's original character, Craeg. Darkspeed is a different dude. He's the original owner of Dan's current account.
ah ok
Craeg — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 19:54ah ok
Gares nailed it right on the
Shihli — Fri, 02/19/2010 - 12:39Gares nailed it right on the head. Assuming this is still Mendaren playing this toon, I question honestly - if you were re-invited - how long you would remain in guild until "something better" came along, again, which led to you leaving, again.
