talisdar — Tue, 11/30/2010 - 07:03Hi Eliz, welcome to Gorg. I am a recovering healbot user, and have made the transistion to grid! Grid with Clique is the best that I have seen for clicking healers. Of which most of us are. When we were raiding 25 mans, I could keep about 20 bubbles up at any one time. Granted in Cata, I will be oom so fast.... but with Grid you can.
Keep up with everyones bubbles.
Keep up wiht renews and see how much time is left.
Keep up with shield lock out (everyones).
And much much more, if you need help setting it up please let me know. Also there are some very good post here to assist with that.

With it happening so soon after my transition from healbot, I didn't keep up with it & just used wow's. I'll update and start working with it again. I do appreciate how much info is shown... asthetically I prefer healbot's/wow's icons & how their timer's tick, but I can get over it. WoW's frames are still too limited. (Is healbot even still around?)
I've grown accustomed to my keybindings and mouse over macros - do you still recommend Clique? As far as it's use, is it similiar to Healbot? If so, do you move primarily with your keyboard or mouse? I've worked hard to get away from moving with my arrows because I was told it slows me down.
Just so you have an idea of what I do - I have all my binds on the left side of the board... all of the keys your four main fingers rest on as well as the row above and below and a couple just to the right for straifing. (a,s,d,f,g - q,w,e,r,t - z,c,v) I move primarily with my mouse but, much to Malto's chagrin, I still think I healed more on the run with healbot than I do now. I could cast my instants as I went and I find that a little more difficult to do now. Granted, with practice, I'm getting much better. (I powned a rogue the other day in AB being able to quickly keep my face to him - he was probably a bad one, but still!)
In thinking about my macros, I've just realized I don't have any bindings to my mouse anymore - that opens more possiblities!
Anyway, I'm very much interested in your take on this and recommendations!

Maltoheals — Tue, 11/30/2010 - 12:00I do not recommend Clique.... I have no issues with a "click" Healer but find for myself keymashing works way better for me.....
And since I spent numerous hours teaching you to use and get comfortable with Mouse overs I recommend you stay with them but as I have told you many times in the past Grid is the way to go and not just for being able to "Click" Raid frames to apply intended effects on your target but also for the Wealth of information that is read back to you ....
This Guild as a whole has many experts in Grid (I have used grid for a long time before coming to downfall but have learned even better ways of using it since joining the downfall team)....
Now as we have discussed in the past I work on a 9 key regular bind schema ( QWE, ASD, ZXC) with R and V and F for seldom used abilities but also remember I am a warrior tank for 3 years so the key schema followed over to my priest... I am entirely mouse movement (which you and I worked hard to get you to the point of comfort with complete mouse movement and I hope you are still using this) so prefer to mash keys macro'd to abilities rather then clicking raid frames -- Applying a mending in transition while moving or a bubble to target while moving etc....
Anyways like I have said in the past GRID GRID GRID use it get comfortable with it and ask questions of those experts in downfall to get the most out of it ...
One other thing --- in game Talk to Downfall healers... Resqtoaster is a very good option as he knows his shit but there are also others in the guild such as Starra or Fjork or Scaron that all are very good disc priest and very good players in general... Pick there brains --- ask them questions show them you mean business

I hate hover macro's, so if i were to be a button masher i would have to click the frame, and then mash the button, and thats twice the work for the same affect, it also slows down my casting speed. While casting on the run, i WASD move and clique cast. I cant imagine this being any different with a hover macro, because you still need to hover over something, which if mouse moving would screw with your directionals.

I've done For the Alliance & healed other town raids but it's not the same as trying to get your fishing done & getting ganked. I'm sure that will come soon.
I'm in the dfrecruit channel... if ever you need someone to run a random, content or even find an Easter Egg spot, gimmie a shout! (I finally got to dance with the trolls I've flown over time & time again - by MoonGlade/Winterspring - the other day!)

Granted, with friends in guild it is a lot easier to be vetted and welcomed into our community.
I have had bad experiences with apps that are rushed through, even friends, and I would hate to have to go through that again.

I wanted my spec to be solely for healing. I normally roll holy/disc for the healing versitility but since we are about to start leveling again I swapped out holy for shadow. I don't have time to raid anymore, being a single mother to a 7 1/2 old as active as mine is really wears me down and I pass out before 10. Speaking of which, how do you manage to play WOW with 4 kids? I am guessing their ages have a lot to do with it lol.
What add-ons do you currently use? I do like that you don't have a lot of crap cluttering your UI.
My best advice for you as an applicant is to watch your app and answer any questions asked and update anything that changes. Best of luck :)

Eliz — Sun, 11/21/2010 - 17:27Yes, their ages do have alot to do with my ability to play but also, I think, it's because I've played on a PST realm. Normal raid times have been around 6 pm which is 9 for me... While they don't follow the 9pm bed time I've tried to lay down, they do know it's MY time.
I currently run omen, DBM, Bartender and Recount. In the course of getting weaned off Healbot, Malto has had me try a multitude of others... they all seemed helpful in their way but I found myself focused more on their alerts than on what I was supposed to be doing. Some things simply cannot replace instincts.
I am undecided yet as to my thoughts on WoW's raid frames. I liked them until I ran with another Disc priest and couldn't see the shields they were tossing....
