Which addons do you consider essential and why?:

I feel mods can greatly increase or decrease a person's DPS. using mods is important because the standard blizzard UI isn't quite the greatest. A person who use's mods correctly will always have better dps than the person who does not. they also help contribute to raid setting awareness which is the bane of all pugs/crappy guilds. mods help out everyone and everyone should use mods, it's pretty much basic logic

PvE

Raid Experience:

I have instance experience in everything except ruby sanctum. I have gone 10/12 on ICC 10 man and 4/12 25man, finished naxxramas, completed ToC 10/25, VoA10/25, Ony 10/25 and have experience with OS and EoE. within both guilds i played a dominant DPS role(usually top) on all raids. I have healed for ToC and VoA.

I am usually what you call the average video game junky, due to the fact that other than school I mostly have only played video games in my lifetime. I like to joke around but get serious when I need to. I am a nice person who likes to help others out and I do have morals(which is surprising in todays society). I dislike douchebags and for the most part am non judgemental. My parents are divorced which might get in the way of raiding sometimes, but usually I am at my mom's house and she has a great computer, unlike my dad.(the screenshot above is from my dad's house, at my mom's house my UI mods are very different)

So since my mouse is a piece, I am planning to get a new mouse that will hopefully help me with my reaction times and such, thinking of getting a razor naga, but is there any other recommendations on which I should get?

The Naga is a nice mouse, but remember more buttons =/= better mouse. Personally it depends on the mousepad you use more than anything.

Steelseries makes amazing pads and mice. The best mousepad in the world, at least IMO is the XS, its a metal pad that has lasted me more than 3 years so far and I do say its amazing.

For mice, Logitech has a new G500 or something like that, musth like the G5 but a better cell, the thing about Logitech game mice is they have weights, small thing in the end but it really does help. I'm not a big mouse button fan so the naga might be a bit much.

I will suggest before buying a surface see if you can find a place to touch it, get a idea of what it actually is.

I never had the chance to see steelseries XS in person before I ordered mine, so I took alot of time deciding, its ionized powder paint in a sense on metal, so its cold when the room is cold, it collects oil and other grime from your hand etc. I love my mousepad, but thats not saying it doesn't have flaws.

Pro tip here though if you or anyone gets a metal / glass pad, silicon spray, find it in a autozone works amazing wonders on the pad, if you thought it had a like ice glide before, then your in for a wonderful suprise, there is litterly no drag/resistance when I want to move the mouse, heck if its cold, and my wrist is cold I find myself slipping off the pad =)

Well most likely I will be getting the tychus findley starcraft pad, my friend has it and he says it works wonders for him for having minimal resistance. But if I ever do upgrade to a metal/glass one I will defiantly keep that in mind.

Last night was my first time in a ICC25 HM and I now know alot more on what I was doing wrong. thanks nuit for the invite and explinations, jayel for help with a couple of the fights by explaining it and all of KB for teaching me alot about WoW raiding.

I noticed that you had everything gem'd and enchanted last night. Well done! My only suggestions are to change the cloak ench to haste and wrist ench to the greater Assault. Those are both BiS items once you get your 4pc so they might as well be enchanted to maximize your dps.

I thought you did pretty well last night. Better raid awareness will come with seeing the fights and figuring out what works out the best for you in certain situations. Such as how high to stack the debuffs on Sindy. Also dont forget to watch your feet =P

so after 2 days or so i have about 370(ish) or so JCing and have gotten the agility rep reward ring along with my T10 head piece. hopefully in the next VoA I do I can get the legs, but if not that's probably next on the list. After more gear I'll try to get a parse done(if anybody is willing, or anytime really that I'm on). Planning on getting my JCing up to 455 in the next couple days here, which should be alot easier.

Let's see if I can fumble through this for you then. I'm sorry I didn't post sooner but I figured a main spec ret guy would've posted.

A list of things to consider changing

1) Enchants, your boots currently have Icewalker on them. While I see your hit isn't all that great be sure that when you do bring yourself back up switch over to Attack power (since you're spec'ed into Pursuit of Justice and don't need Tuskar's). Your T10 gloves only have greater assault on them and not crusher. Why? Should definitely take care of that one real fast.

2) Gemming, First thank you! you made me realize I could put my nightmare's tear in a better spot and get a 2 str increase (was looking at your tear placement) But your choice in your cloak isn't a good one. 20 str even when it doesn't grant a socket bonus is always the right way to go for ret (at least for now)

3) Glyphs, You're in the same boat as I recently just became. Where I have an overabundance of Expertise. Then my question is, Why in gods name are you using Glyph of Seal Of Vengeance? Glyph of Exorcism is a much better choice when you're not hurting for expertise. Especially since when almost primarily fighting undead and deamons all the time in this expansion (because it always crits on them and the 20% increased damage from it can be huge!)

4) Gear, Becoming a smaller priority as Cata approaches, I know. As far as the current patch is concerned you have a ton of useless gear. I'm sure you melee swings are doing well. But given most of our damage is done via magic the Armor Pen you have is a big ol' amount of wasted stats. I would normally say hit up Elitist Jerks and read up on the ret pally page. But they have the old stuff down for Cata posts instead. However as Cata approaches and ArP gets turned into crit (or so I'm told) then your gear will actually get better once the 4.0 patch hits. If I were you and had a bit of time to get it going I would get myself on the PTR (copy Firewire over) and see what the patch did to your stats! Now keep in mind that were most definitely not going for the same stats (haven't had time to read up on ret in cata) but still your gear will improve with the patch. For the time being however if you can get a better drop. GO FOR IT! lol.

5) professions. Get your JC up now! while it's still easy to farm old world stuff! Everyone and their grandma's will be farming up professions on their new toons for awhile so getting your professions up to cap now will save you frustration later! Also your mining is a wasted profession for endgame raiding since all it gives is a stam buff. However once again this is saved by the Xpac coming out since mining nodes will grants XP as well. So it will not only help you level your JC in the new content but also help you level up quicker.

Then all that is left is to see a parse or how ya do! be sure and be on for raids before their forming up and mention it in DFrecruit. Your brother wont be able to do the work for you on this one. It's all of your leg work that can get you into Downfall. Be active on your app! post questions about gear changes and spec changes and whatnot. Oh and I logged out on Elapsed in my ret set/spec. Going to login now and move a couple gems around in it actually.

1) I do realize my hit is pretty low, but the one thing I do remember while on elitist jerks from before is that normal pallies only need something like 8% hit and then dranai need 7%? So I am actually over the hit cap slightly I believe. The other ones I completely looked over which was pretty bad on my part, I'll have to change it ASAP.

2) I do realize now that i look at it, how retarded I was with my gemming, there are many place for improvement and I thank you for pointing them out.

3) I'll change that out ASAP.

4) Having to pug has made it harder to get gear as of late, on ICC 25 I have yet to really get anything that I really need due to being unlucky(you'd think that the ratio of time to gear would be at least half decent, with me, it's pretty low). However I probably could do some sort of ICC 25 GKP(I know it's pretty late to do so though).

5)I do realize that my JC is pretty low, I have tried to get it up but after about the 2nd hour of farming I usually end up bored and wanting to do other things. although i guess it's better to do it now than later.

I have mentioned it a couple times but it was either full or not raiding that current night, I'll be sure to be more active, or at least when the expansion comes out which is going to cause sleep loss.

Being blunt here but you're gear is a bit low to just step into ICC 25 man hard modes so when you get a chance to come into raid be sure to know the fights and show you can stay alive, DPS the right targets and avoid ghost, etc. Gear advice would be to get your 4 piece T10 asap. The 4pc bonus would be a nice boost for your DPS. Also making [49906] would help you drop some exp.

I'll try to throw your gear through RAWR to see if I can give you any other suggestions but for now do what Elapsed suggested and look into making those boots and picking up 2 more pieces of your T10.

Agi = crit. the boots have two red sockets, AP and Crit and room for a couple of very nice STR gems and to get some agi from that as well..... It took me a bit to accept that some leather would be upgrades for me. But I was very happy to get rid of the hellfrozen bonegrinders!

But as I said so many times, with 4.0 right around the corner, don't get used to this paradigm.

Um actually it's looking a bit sooner than that. November is when Cata should be due out. I mean we already have 4gbs of patch 4.0 downloaded via the background downloader (if you run that, which you should to avoid hassle on patch day)

On a side note had a real good convo with Firewire about his app the other day. I think we should get him into a KB or Salmon for a tryout, maybe on an Ulduar run like Monday (or whatever we get done Monday) and see how he does, both with his dps (gear forgiven) and his situational awareness.

Oh and he did a good job of inflating my ego so he's good there too!

The agi ring is a dps upgrade over the str ring after a certain point. And those leather boots were a dps upgrade until I got the ones off of Deathwhisper tonight.. I mentioned the bonegrinders since they can be crafted. If you havent already get RAWR and start using it to optimize gems and gear upgrades. If you have any questions on it hit me up.
