General Questions
Tell us a little of your history in WoW.:
Hello, I have been playing wow sense Vanilla. I started out playing a hunter until I fell in love with Shadow Priests and their PvP prowess. I've been playing a priest ever sense as my main (I have an alt Druid). My focus early on was mainly in PvP but I branched out into other roles in PvE content through the years. I've been part of several great quality guilds over the years with varying roles. I've started out as a recruit, and worked my way up to officer status on multiple occasions. I would consider myself very experienced and talented on the PvP platform. I worked my way up to get Gladiator status several years ago as a Shadow Priest. I also was a main contributor to a RBG team (as a Disc Healer) that played in the 2400 bracket. Most of my experience and honors come from the PvP side, but I've found that the same qualities that made me good in PvP have translated well in the PvE environment as well. I'll provide more details on both in the other sections of this application.
How do you feel about the state of your class in the game?:
Priests have come and gone as overpowered and underpowered at times. I feel that currently Priests appear to be balanced, but to be honest I haven't played end game content in Draenor yet to speak with certainty. I'm sad that it looks like Disc and Shadow lost renew which I always felt was a great mobility tool to have. If I find that Priests play style in end game PvE or PvP healing has changed a lot from MOP I may switch to my restro Druid if it's a better fit for the guild. Disc play has always been a preventative form of healing with a weakness in having to react to damage if you were unprepared or it's unexpected. This means careful planning and a good understanding of what's going on around you if you want to excel as a Priest. That is a play style that I've traditionally enjoyed.
What led you to our guild and what would you like to accomplish with us?:
To be honest, I have limited experience with your server and Guild. I've been playing in the Lightninghoof Server for around 8 years until my recent transfer to your guild. I wanted a chance to play with both Whillow (which is my cousin) and Badwulf (who I've arena'd with before and is a wow friend). I've heard good things about your guild and was told it's a good group of talented people who work hard to excel at what they do in WoW. I've toned down my time playing wow over the years and find myself enjoying the company of people who know what they are doing and don't cause a lot of drauma. From what I hear about your guild, that's the kind of members you like to recruit, and I'd love the opportunity to contribute to your guilds success. I'll be honest and say that I'm a little unsure of my availability over the next few months. I work in Medical Device Sales and have unpredictable times when I may be called to work in hospitals. While I may be non-committal for raid times etc, my commitment to your guild is to be an exceptional Priest in what ever role I am able to participate in. If you guild participates in rated Battlegrounds, I would be a great resource to have as a Discipline Priest as I have extensive experience in that environment, and would love to contribute to your guild's success in any PvP activities. I'd be glad to help with PvE if you need me as well but I may or may not be able to make your raid times (TBD)
Which days are you available for organized guild events? (Raids, RBGs, etc):
Monday

UI
Upload UI:
Which addons do you consider essential and why?:
My essential addons are: Xperl (because of the ability to track healing and targets in a customized fashion), Bartender 4 (to setup custom views and keybinds for my buttons), DBM (For PvE, PvP timers and warnings), Aloft (for ease in targeting and monitoring players on screen), GladiatorlosSA (mainly to keep track of CD's and CC's in PvP), and finally ACB cast bar which is great when baiting casts in PvP, monitoring what other creatures are doing, and overall tracking of what's going on.
What do you like in particular about the UI you are currently using?:
I prefer to have as much of my screen available to see what's going on. I also keybind most of the important keys I use. However don't nitpick my current UI too much (like the fact that my trinkets aren't keybound) I took an extended break from WoW and am still working through some keybind options. When it comes to addons I value having as much information as I can. This is especially true with focus targets during PvP, and or healing or debuff values.
PvE
Raid Experience:
I've had previous experience early on doing MC and Nax. To be honest, I haven't really been in a committed raid environment sense then. While my hardcore PvE experience is dated a bit, I believe the fundamentals are the same no matter which expansion you are in
Describe Your Playstyle:
I cannot speak to play style in detail because of the numerous changes to the priest class over the years which have affected rotations and strategies quite a bit. I would have to read up and learn about this to make relevant comments with the Draenor expansion.
What specializations do you have experience with?:
I have extensive past experience with Shadow Priest. Most recently though I've been most comfortable in a healer role. More specifically I'm very familiar with Disc Priests and Resto Druids.
What are your most and least favorite boss encounters?:
Boss encounters that require using some kind of vehicle prop (like riding tanks etc) aren't as fun. When I can't use my character's core abilities it's less satisfactory to me.
PvP
PvP Experience:
I have extensive PvP experience. I would say in a PvP environment in terms of past expansions, I was an expert. I received the rank of Gladiator several seasons ago as a Shadow Priest. I've come close afterwards as DISC. For Arenas I've had a MMR of around 2200 in 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5. I've been a part of several 2300 teams in early Arenas seasons with wow (pre-season 6). I was a main healer in a high rated RBG team over on Lightninghoof where several members got High Warlord, and the team MMR was around 2300. I haven't played PvP in Draenor yet to comment on the PvP status in wow over the last few months.
Is PvP your primary focus?:
I'm no longer trying to get Gladiator status again and I mostly play for fun. However I do have a good amount of experience and would love to help contribute to your Guild's overall PvP Goals. This would be the area that I am most excited to participate in with your guild. If you plan to run RBG's I'd love to be apart of the team as a DISC healer.
Are you interested in participating in guild rated battlegrounds?:
Yes
Personal
Is English your first language?:
Yes
What timezone are you in?:
EST (Florida)
Tell us a little about yourself.:
I'm a little order now with a wife and kids, so my priorities are first with my Family. I have a great job in the Medical Field that I love, and it does take a lot of my time. Because I work in Critical Care, my hours and availability are uncertain at times. Wow is a fun game, and I mostly enjoy playing with people who I know and trust. Because you have 2 members that I know very well (Whillow and Badwulf) I'd love to be apart of your guild, as your guild comes highly recommended. Thanks for your time.

Badwulf — Thu, 01/15/2015 - 22:13

Have known Grindel for years and done a lot of pvp (mostly arena) with him. Very skilled at his class and good situational awareness.

We will get you geared up asap and and you can start tagging along on the galaga raid once you are able to pull some decent numbers. Would help for you to be flexible for swapping between healer and dps roles depending on what we need most. Will talk to you more in game.

Thanks for the kind words

Grindel — Sat, 01/17/2015 - 20:59

Thanks for the kind words Badwulf. I wanted to give everyone a quick update. I'll be out on a business trip to California all next week, so if you don't see me log on or reply to a comment, that's why. Once I get back in town, I'll try to reach out to some of the officer's to introduce myself. Have a great week everyone.
