Tell us a little of your history in WoW.:

I have been playing WoW on and off for 10 years. I started out as a hardcore pvp healer and worked up to Champion in Vanilla before I started raiding MC. My whole adult life I have been drinking beer and playing WoW.

How do you feel about the state of your class in the game?:

I think Hunter is great. I used my free lvl 90 to get my hunter and I am having a hard time playing my 100 druid because it is so much fun. My current dps(emphasis on current because Blizzard loves their Nerf Bat) is amazing. I was playing Marks until the current patch and now I am playing survival. I consult noxxic.com for my spec and rotation. Seeing as I am new to hunter I am very open to input and willing to grow.

What led you to our guild and what would you like to accomplish with us?:

I know Noxxin in RL we went to school together and you guys are a successful raiding guild. Upon joining your guild I would like to work toward completion of current tier content, while having fun and making new friends.

Which addons do you consider essential and why?:

DBM - there are a lot of things going on in so fights and it provides a common notification location for all important raid announcements
Bartender - centralize button layout
Autioneer - so I can pay the bills
Recount - so I can race the other DPS and check what other hunters are doing and compare my results

What do you like in particular about the UI you are currently using?:

It is clean and easily rearranged.

PvE

Raid Experience:

As a priest healer(disc all day)I raided MC, ZG, BWL, AQ20, AQ40, Kara, Mag, Grull, and SSC. As a Rogue MC, ZG, BWL, AQ20, AQ40. Both of these characters guild disbanded while progression was happening on the first boss in AQ40. Paladin healer Kara, Mag, Grull, and SSC at which point my account was hacked and my paladin was split off to another account and Blizzard never helped me get back. During Wrath and Panda I raided with a DK both Tank and DPS. During Cata and Panda I Tanked, Healed, and DPSd with a druid.

Describe Your Playstyle:

My current rotation is keep Explosive shot, Black Arrow, and Barrage on CD. A Murder of Crows on the target. Use Arcane shot to keep serpent sting on all targets and use it to use extra focus.

What specializations do you have experience with?:

I have beast master as my off-spec because the pet is a might tank and I can solo most things.
If I were to get into the guild I would transfer my Druid with me and he is a lvl 100 tank that I get minimal play time on.

What are your most and least favorite boss encounters?:

I enjoy bosses that have a high volume of avoidable damage because it is a skill check and not a gear check. Bosses I hate, gear checks that take no skill because no matter how good you are if you don't have the gear you can't beat it and the groups with gear and no skill can walk right over it with no problems.

Tell us a little about yourself.:

I work full time at Intel as a Security Engineering System Programmer(No I will not fix your computer!). I have a beautiful fiancée that I will be marrying May 2, 2015 and we have been together 6 years. I attend California State University and received a degree in Computer Science. Before I went to college I was in the Navy as an Aviation Electrician and was stationed at Tinker AFB in OKC, OK. I love trying new types of beer and have two parrots.

Sounds like you may have already found a home with one of our raids, but if not Galaga raid is short on ranged dps . . . just not hunters, lol. We had 3 in our 10 man last expansion and we have 3 this time, usually have 13-17 people in raid.

We are the least progressed raid in the guild as a fair warning to you, but we raid only 2 nights a week for 2.5-3 hrs (TH and SUN 9 pm east coast start time). We're recently 5/7 regular mode and have only managed 1/7 Heroic mode. We should get more up to speed in the coming months and having mostly melee in group has it's challenges. Also, we're a mix of 20 somethings to those in their forties with kids.

If you are on one of those nights feel free to join us. I'm sure Saedra and Lytearrow would enjoy the challenge.

Thanks even if I have cleared normal by then I am always open to raid, I just really like the challenge and any extra exposure to fights helps me get better at huntering. Also Currently a majority of hunter damage is Magic damage because Survival is amazing right now. But I have both MM(physical heavy) and SV(magic heavy) so I am pretty versatile. I am currently 7/7 normal and 0/7 heroic. Look forward to helping get people into fights. :) I also have a tank druid that is 630 right now and am actively gearing.

For Hyntarded's Ilvl he was very impressive. Look foreword to seeing what you can do. I have been getting into SV myself. I did not hit my stride until the end of the night, but I was wondering what your thoughts were on taking steady focus over TOTH. It seemed to be very beneficial on heroic Imperitor. Also how do you like the other specs? Do you feel comfortable playing SV, BM, and MM depending on what the fight requires? Finally can you list your opener for SV, I would like to see how you are starting the fight off.

I take TOTH because it reduces the number of times I have to cast FS. This is very beneficial due to the inability to move and cast. Also it is very nice to have 20 focus multi-shots for any multi-target mechanics. I found that Steady Focus and Focus Shot don't work together because of the Wasted Focus and 5 secs of inability to move. As for my starting burst I pre-pot, pop trinket(mastery increase), then apply dots(BA, ES, AMoC, AS for SS), then I cast FS with if I don't have TOTH up I cast barrage. As for other specs, I have only really found Ko'ragh requires my MM spec, this also depends on the raid balance of physical and magic dmg. My MM spec specialized for minimal magic dmg by taking blink strike over AMoC. I found that will all the specs I have tried that FS is must and it boosts my dps about 1500 even though I get stuck sometimes with no focus due to boss mechanics. I like all of the specs SV is just dmg king right now, so I am working it all out.

steady focus is applied on your focusing shot. since focusing shot has such a long cast time, you only need to apply it once to keep the buff up. I have found it is an excellent way of avoiding rng from TOTH. If you look at TOTH uptime, TOTH is usually only up 50% of the time.Conversely you could have steady focus up much higher. Optimally you want to burn as much focus before casting focusing shot with steady focus to avoid the cap. I found that if you wait a second for focus to regen you can fit in a arcane shot and drain your focus entirely. Steady focus is also simming better then TOTH right now, just something to consider. BS is an interesting decision, but you should really use MOC for pretty much anything. Hope to see you again in raid, hit me up in game if you want to talk about huntering ;)

Well, they need to update their skill description because it states, "Using Cobra Shot twice in a row increases your focus regeneration by 50% for 10sec". No where does it indicate only one for focusing shot :P but it procs ><. This will defintly be a dps increase, thanks. As for BS over MOC I only take it because MOC is magic dmg and everytime I have done Ko'ragh we have be caster heavy and we needed the physical damage.

Thank you for taking the time to successfully complete our guild application. I believe all three of our raids are full on hunters. So if you are really interested in raiding right away you might have to wait in a line. It would not hurt to post a meter from a dummy or a heroic to see where you are at. I am sure our hunter officers will have a couple questions for you.

You seem like a good addition with your experience and enthusiasm. There is just a large amount of hunters out there right now. Do you have any alts you like to play or are interested in raiding?

Here is comparison of Brackenspore vs Brackenspore LFR. The first fight is at ilvl 637 vs 645 second fight. I was testing different spec for second fight so I will post a link to log when I change my spec back. Also I cleared all bosses excluding Imperator on Normal this week and was always #2 behind a 649 monk.

I think you have made a good impression from your thoroughness of your application. Keep in mind we judge many fields not just dps meters : ). Everything is looking good so far, again we do have a lot of hunters but I look forward to seeing you in a group in the future. Best of luck. -Keiffer

Agreed dps meters are great

Agreed dps meters are great but a dead hunter does 0 dps. Most first encounters, I have reduced numbers because my primary focus is positioning and damage avoidance. Even as a dps I still think like a healer!
