Some addons seem required now a days, but I would like to once see a raid where everyone knew what was happening and DBM wasn't a necessity. Also, im doing this app on my laptop, so the pic of my UI is not representative of what I use in raids
DBM, Omen, Skada, Mage Nuggets, Decursive for raiding
Auctioneer, Atlast Loot and more for, well, not raiding

Raid Experience:

Was in a different guild during BC(has sense broken up) that couldn't clear through the higher tier of content. All WotLK 5 mans, cleard 10/25 Naxx, skipped Ulduar(spent a semester working on my course work) but have done up through Freya on 10 and 25, 10/25 ToC, 10 ICC has cleared up to Sindragosa, 25 ICC has possibly hit a competency wall, cleared through the lower spire, but we keep having people die on Fester/Rot because they allow a big ooze to form in melee or dont move to attain the spore debuff

1) The guild tanks can hold the aggro so I almost never worry about it. In the few cases that I do jump the tanks, it is intentional as I have Mirror Image out, and it becomes impossible to pull off the tank. I have an addon called Mage Nuggets which gives me a timer for how long I have left on my Images. I time an Invis to the last 3 seconds of MI to wipe threat. This only happens on the initial pulls. After that, I never have to Invis again, unless its to save my salf a repair cost.

2) I spec'd according to my current 10 man. The only fight where Amp magic is requested of me is during Surfang and the guild healer, at least the ones I run with, are geared enough where I can use the points for a dps increase instead of a healing increase. For the range I find that, as you said, it is not really "required."

3) at the time, I just put the points somewhee to get through the first tier. When I do daily's, mobs die to quickly to worry about a frost bolt, and when I am on add duty for Surfang, I kill the blood beast soquickly that throwing a Frost bolt would be a dps loss. It might not matter in the long run, but I currently dont have a need for the frostbite talent.

4) I wish I could say I have alternate sets of gear, but I don't. Call it the virtues of luck, but I make do with what I have.

5) Single Target: Scorch, Living Bomb, fireball spam. After that, you throw the free pyro's when they come up, and keep Scorch and LB on target at all times.

Trash pulls: Depends on number of mobs

Less then 5: LB all, Flamestrike, Blizzard

Greater then 6: LB all targets, then free pyros and repeat, no time for anything else

5 - 6 Mobs: Toss up, but will still LB all targets and single dps main target

6) ABx4, (Barrage proc) Arcane Missiles, if not, fifth AB then AM either way. Unless it is a burn phase I try to be mana conservative and stop at 5 AB's. ABarr is there for when movement is killing your rotation, ie: Whirlwind phase on Marrowgar or just before time runs uot on AB debuff with no missile proc.

Ah well what spec do you use predominately? Your gear is setup perfectly for fire but as Arcane is the top dps spec atm you should probably try to gear for it. A few easy things that you can do are...

1) Either farm toc5 for Abyssal Rune or get 50 triumphs for a Talisman of Resurgence.

2) I know it costs atoooon of gold but you should aim for making the 264 icc crafted legs they're very nice.

3) Until you get 4piece t10 you should drop the t10 gloves and use the ilvl245 t9 gloves as they have haste.

4) Try to get a new cape, even if it's just like a Cloak of Displacement from toc25 the haste helps.

5) Try for a new off hand and wand as well, Northrend Beasts and Blood Princes (both on 10) have good wands and try for a togc10 run or a 25man Blood Princes for an off hand as hit/crit isn't the greatest for Arcane.

Also for the use of mirror images w/ threat the only problem with that is when you get 4piece t10 can't always use your mirror images like that as it will gimp your dps because of the damage bonus, besides that extra little bit of threat reduction is all you need alot of the time to not pull aggro from the tank.

And for speccing into the extra range I said it's not "required" as it doesn't provide a visible dps boost, but at the same time it's justl ike using Tuskar's Vitality on boots instead of Icewalker, it reduces the amount of movement you need to do in a fight and the extra little bit of spirit you have instead just really isnt worth it. Using Saurfang as an example again, it would allow you to stand further away from the boss allowing you to dps the adds more from a safer distance giving you more dps on the add.

And finally with frostbite it procs off of more then just frostbolt, I use it more often with Cone of Cold to escape from an add of some sort.

Besides that really just work on getting more spell haste in general and you're fine =]

Thanks for the information. I wish upgrades were this easy to find, but my current guild just doesnt run ennough. They have pretty much stopped running 10/25ToC which makes me sad. I do like to run fire more then arcane just cause the spec allows for a more reaction style of game play. I have done the math though, and when in 25's my crit chance is high enough that the 2piece t10 procs more from hot streak the missle barrage.

Yeah I would agree with you that fire is alot more fun to play then arcane its just that on a single target boss fight, which majority of icc is, arcane is above fire dps wise by alot. And with the 2 piece t10 procing, when you have enough haste (around 1000-1100ish) the 2piece bonus has a nearly constant uptime as arcane so it's very nice.

As always with dummys, this isnt a truely accurate test but, seeing as my current guild isnt running anything tonight, this is the best I could do for now. These include self buffs only with no flask.

Fight on dummy didn't really last long enough to get a great look as I assume you stopped when you ran oom and never had to evocate or actually manage your mana for a long period of time. That and the add wouldve only been effected by Torment the Weak at the start from your mirror images frostbolt so you would've been doing less dps throughout the rest of the fight.

well, never pulled from the tank, and never died in a wipe thanks to Invis(and there were alot)... This shouldnt event count. I can get higher dps numbers being unbuffed in a 5 man. I out dps'd a warlock (gustace) who has better gear then me >.<

Hello sir or madam, and welcome to the Downfall recruitment process. If you fancy a quick invite, have thin skin, or like purps over people then don't waste your time reading what follows, just press on now. If you are a skilled player, or even a player in need of a little molding, and you have time to dedicate to dead bosses, and to a community of people that do more together then play a video game, then here's a few things for you.

Recruitment Process

Step 1 Application : Well you've already completed this step by taking the time to complete our lengthy application. Some think it's silly, we have documented proof that it easily weeds out the douchebags before wasting too much of our time.

Step 2 Who are you? : Type /join dfrecruit in game. This will put you in our global chat channel for recruits. You'll find lots of Downfall members in that channel often shouting for people for random heroics. This will get your name out there, let people get to know you. The more people you get to know, the more people will begin to comment on your application, and thus keep it "alive"

Until you start to get comments from those who excel in your class, or those who have nice/not so nice things to say about you as they get to know you, it's up to YOU to keep your application active, it's not just a matter of posting and never coming back, we are a website oriented guild, get used to using it.

Step 3 Raid Tryouts : Raid : mAlt opens up 3 slots each Sunday for raid performance tests. We parse these events and can see you in action before we bring you into a 25 man progession raid. For more info on mAlt and raid times/sign ups: /raidgroup/malt

Step 4 Be There : Be online during 25 man progression raid times, its even better if you're on from start to finish, since people will DC mid raid. If you're apping to raid, it's a long and grueling process. We DO need consistant skilled players for both 25 man raids, and you're not the only person trying to get that spot. What we like to see is our apps posting on the raid events that they are available to fill in on a given night. Then if you've posted that you're going to be on that night, make sure to shout our a reminder in dfrecruit just as raid is about to start just to let us know you're on. It may be weeks, it may be months before you see action, but you may end up with a spot the first time you join the recruit channel.

We have TWO 25 man progression raids:
Raid : Kitten Brigade /raidgroup/kitten-brigade Mon - Wed 6:30 - 10:00
Raid : Salmon /raidgroup/salmon Tue - Thu 6:00 - 9:00

Well that's what you can expect for the next few weeks/months. We've had applicants that have waited over 3 months for an invite, we've invited people within a few days, every situation is different. So get you're name out there, get some comments, and good luck to you!
