Tonight was a shining example
Aidin — Mon, 03/08/2010 - 20:02Tonight was a shining example as to why you should be online during 25
man progression nights...we had spots, and one could have been yours.
So i see you have 1- = key

Hello sir or madam, and
Aidin — Fri, 03/05/2010 - 07:29Hello sir or madam, and welcome to the Downfall recruitment process. If you fancy a quick invite, have thin skin, or like purps over people then don't waste your time reading what follows, just press on now. If you are a skilled player, or even a player in need of a little molding, and you have time to dedicate to dead bosses, and to a community of people that do more together then play a video game, then here's a few things for you.
Recruitment Process
Step 1 Application : Well you've already completed this step by taking the time to complete our lengthy application. Some think it's silly, we have documented proof that it easily weeds out the douchebags before wasting too much of our time.
Step 2 Who are you? : Type /join dfrecruit in game. This will put you in our global chat channel for recruits. You'll find lots of Downfall members in that channel often shouting for people for random heroics. This will get your name out there, let people get to know you. The more people you get to know, the more people will begin to comment on your application, and thus keep it "alive"
Until you start to get comments from those who excel in your class, or those who have nice/not so nice things to say about you as they get to know you, it's up to YOU to keep your application active, it's not just a matter of posting and never coming back, we are a website oriented guild, get used to using it.
Step 3 Be There : Be online during raid times, its even better if you're on from start to finish, since people will DC mid raid. If you're apping to raid, it's a long and grueling process. We DO need consistant skilled players for both 25 man raids, and you're not the only person trying to get that spot. What we like to see is our apps posting on the raid events that they are available to fill in on a given night. Then if you've posted that you're going to be on that night, make sure to shout our a reminder in dfrecruit just as raid is about to start just to let us know you're on. It may be weeks, it may be months before you see action, but you may end up with a spot the first time you join the recruit channel.
All questions regarding raid invite status for Kitten Brigade should be directed Zariyah in game, or alt Sainttaryn.
All questions regarding raid invite status for Salmon should be directed Ataraxia.
Please do not bother the other raid leaders, they have lots to do already.
Well that's what you can expect for the next few weeks/months. We've had applicants that have waited over 3 months for an invite, we've invited people within a few days, every situation is different. So get you're name out there, get some comments, and good luck to you!
Why do people say we lose
Kognus — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 09:39Why do people say we lose more? As of this second the Alliance's record in battlegrounds that I've been in is 631-345 since 3.0 came out. That's more than a 60% winning percentage. I play most of my BGs in PUGs too (I think I've solo queued for over half of my battlegrounds and when I queue in a group it's with only one or two other people at least 80% of the time). Sure, there are some bad days where you run into a lot of organized teams (or "pre-mades" as the kids call them) and lose a lot, but by and large I think the Alliance does just fine.
My biggest issue is all of the whining that goes on in BG chat.
Funny thing is horde whine
Aidin — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 10:54Funny thing is horde whine that they always loose and they suck on this server just like all the alliance do...no one's ever happy unless they are complaining...

Kognus — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 09:59Those were the days. I only ever played to rank 8 because I was so inconsistent from week to week with grinding honor (one week 300k-400k, the next week 0) that I pretty much just see-sawed between rank 6 and rank 8 from april 06-november 08 when the new honor system was introduced. I had the time to go for GM that summer, but I managed to convince myself that my time was better spent getting thoroughly intoxicated four to six nights each week and then sleeping all day/doing to one summer school class a week.
Anyway, I had purples (and an orange) from internet dragons so they let me play on their marshal teams anyway.
Ya I just made a lot of

Enixa — Thu, 02/25/2010 - 23:191st things 1st. I'm not a guild member in whom you should take seriously. These are my opinions below, perceive them how you want 2.
1) WG isn't one sided, but our BG group isn't the greatest for alliance side. We win some, lose more.
2) 12/0/59
It's the strongest single target Unholy build, and if you think you have
a better one prove it. And the aoe isn't bad either.1st, a bit cocky sounding. Careful in this guild, they'll come after you :P. 2nd, 1 most notable DK (Deadhli) Raids Unholy with a very similar spec. Now I'm not sure what kind of numbers you hit, however the 2% crit in Blood you pass up for Morbidity might be ill placed as 2% crit to all abilities vs. 15% dmg to a single ability almost seems like the better deal.
3)
Read everything here:
/loot Does that seem fair?:
Yes, although I've never really liked the system. < This system is actually one of the smoothest run loot systems I've ever seen. I know of 3 main Systems. Suicide Kings, DKP, and Loot Council. DKP rewards people who hoard points for 1 upgrade... Yay them, now the guy who coulda finished his set and dbl his dps is SoL again. Loot Council rewards officers and regulars, but leaves little to no oppurtunity for the new guy unless it's an every week drop. Suicide Kings forces people to gear up. Oh you want one thing from the end of the instance yet you could be getting 2-5 upgrades before that? Fine, enjoy your 1 peice while I'm 4/5. Spending points rewards you in this system and makes loot a lot easier.>
4)
Why should we recruit you?:
I know what I know well, and the stuff I don't know I
learn quickly. I'm one of those people that thinks coming prepared to
raid is more that a few flasks and a hand full of potions. I got an
entire bag of goodies that I bring along, with everything from gems and
enchanting mats to a bunch of other crap.
Good comment. I used to slack off a lot in Hyjal and TK. But once we hit BT, it changed for me. People not bringing anything that can make them down a boss easier, embarassing for a raiding guild. We don't have that here. You are 1 step ahead. Good.
5)
Tell us about yourself.:
I'm 19 and back in highschool after dropping out to
go to work before the economy tanked, and I have waaay too much time on
my hands to know what to do with.
Keep in mind, School will always be more important.
MY recommendations. Stay active. No one ever gets insta invites, and Server xfer's are rough because we have no idea whether, in lack of better words, you sk or not...Make a good impression and everything will be a lot easier on ya! Good Luck
@Turth and Krymøre
Shihli — Thu, 02/25/2010 - 23:40A few corrections:
1) WG is back-and-forth here, but Alliance has defended WG nearly three times more often than Horde has. We win more than we lose, and have done so since WotLK went live.
2) 12/0/59 is, indeed, not the optimum spec. It's not optimal for AoE, and it's not optimal for single-target either. 14/0/57 is the best single-target spec, 17/0/54 is the best for AoE. Furthermore, Krymøre - you need to replace Glyph of Disease with Glyph of Icy Touch.
Everything else Turth pretty well covered.
Based solely on rune attacks
Krymore — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 02:36Based solely on rune attacks with my current glyphs I get 155424 damage a minute. With Icy touch instead of disease I would get 144391 damage a minute from rune attacks and an additional 5260 damage from frost fever ticks for a total of 149651 damage. It works out to a 96 dps loss. Deathcoil and melee wouldn't even be affected so that's why I only included rune attack damage. So why replace glyph of disease with icy touch? I'll get back to you with 12/0/59 vs 14/0/57 later I need some time to figure it out. 2% crit is great and all, but with my cureent set up it only applies to melee, deathcoil, blood strike and the physical part of scourge strike. If you're wondering where I got my numbers from they're from http://worldoflogs.com/reports/wixhjwzqwbh8nck5/details/144/?s=12306&e=12764 (total damage from an attack)/(#hit+#crit) gets you the average and then multiply what ever you get by the number of attacks per minute. Current set up get my 15 SS a minute and 3 Blood strikes a minute. With Icy touch I get 3 Icy touch, 3 Plague strike, 12 scourge strike and 6 blood strike a minute.
@Krymore
Shihli — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 02:43Glyph of disease doesn't actually deal any damage whatsoever. Glyph of Icy Touch does increase your damage substantially, particularly considering the glyph will directly affect Wandering Plague as well.
Based on your math, if you look at your Wandering Plague damage (119874), assume that say ... half of the procs (46 out of 93) were from Frost Fever, and assume half the damage done is from those Frost Fever procs ... that's 59937 from Frost Fever. Increase that number by 20% due to the glyph, that's 71924 damage - an additional 11987 damage. Then, add on the extra 33730 damage that your beefed-up Icy Touch will deal, and you're looking at an extra 45717 damage done over the course of that Putricide fight. That's an extra 100 dps, or an extra 6000 damage per minute - which exceeds your "best" spec. Glyph of Icy Touch will also increase your damage done on any fight that has more than one target exponentially compared to Glyph of Disease.
The fights in ICC in which you will be attacking more than one target during the fight are Lord Marrowgar, Lady Deathwhisper, Gunship Battle, Deathbringer Saurfang, Professor Putricide, Valithria Dreamwalker, Sindragosa, and The Lich King. That's 2/3 of the fights in there.
THAT is why you use Glyph of Icy Touch.
2% crit applies to melee, Necrosis (via the increase in damage from white attacks), Death Coil, Blood Strike, Scourge Strike twice (crit damage increase on the physical portion will confer an increase in damage on the shadow too), Plague Strike, Icy Touch, Blood Strike, Blood Boil, Death and Decay, Wandering Plague, your ghoul, your gargoyle, and your Army of the Dead. It's worth more, point-for-point, than Morbidity is - which only affects Death Coil.
EDIT - Your math, spec, and glyphs have serious flaws if you're only calculating your "damage per minute" based on rune attacks.
You're probably right, and im
Krymore — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 04:15You're probably right, and im too high to be arguing right now anyways. Ill respec and reglyph and completely eliminate any flow in my rotation and go back to that horribly choppy build.

i lol'd at the saurfang part. is the ranged dps that bad that they need help downing the blood beasts? Marrowgar the spikes are up for so little time the chance of even getting wandering plague to proc on them is so low. Lady deathwhisper, the adds are only out for p1 and unless the dps is slacking they go down in under 15 seconds as it is. Gunship, again short lived adds. Professor P, unless he's being move wrong wandering plauge won't be hitting more than 1 target as it is. Dreamwalker, good point. And the last 2, well I get over looked on Tuesdays for ninja loggers that dissapear at the sight of ulduar and never show up to clean stuff up on Mondays so I wouldn't know.

Careful Kiddo. Talking shit (even if you weren't it looks that way) via app is not a helping matter. Three things you may need to keep in mind. 1) You're a DK. Fuck dude gimme 2 weeks and my DK will be equally geared. You aren't special, roll a healer. 2) You applied here man, Judging by attitude, you waiting for a raid spot... I see you leaving before you get one. Am I right? 3) Don't use marijuana or being high as an excuse. During Ulduar HM I was high every night and performed extremely night and didn't use it for an excuse. It's medicine, not a dependency.
@Krymore
Shihli — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 04:45You're too high to be arguing, so instead you're going to build a strawman argument and insist an inferior build is superior to a better one.
Ranged dps doesn't need help, but help doesn't hurt - particularly if/when you start doing hard modes sometime in the future. Marrowgar, the spikes may not be up long enough for Wandering Plague to proc but you never know - furthermore, the number of seconds you spend getting to the spike and killing it, you'll have 1-3 disease procs on Marrowgar himself - GoIT will make them hit harder. Deathwhisper, it's still a multi-add fight and unless your crowd-controlling something, an Unholy DK should be doing more AoE damage than just about anyone. Gunship, short lived but the stronger your diseases, the faster they die. Same with Putricide - the time you're dps'ing an add, the harder your Frost Fever will hit with GoIT.
Simply put, Glyph of Disease doesn't *do* any damage. What extra damage it does do, you have to weigh the options; in a given 20-second rotation, you get:
With GoD) One extra Scourge Strike, refreshed diseases. Your average combined Scourge Strike hit from your parses = 7140.2 damage per cycle. Total runic power generation from Scourge Strike and Pestilence = 30
Without GoD) One less Scourge Strike, refreshed stronger diseases, one extra Blood Strike. Your average combined Icy Touch hit, Plague Strike hit, and Blood Strike hit from your parses = 6385.3 per cycle. Total runic power generation from Icy Touch, Plague Strike, and Blood Strike = 35.
So you lose approx. 755 damage per 20-second cycle, or a whopping 38 dps. And from my math above, what you gain from your new glyph and spec is 100 dps. Meaning my suggested spec and glyph changes will give you a net 62 dps increase over your "best" spec. That's not even including the extra Death Coil you'll pick up every 160 seconds, which - given your parses, again - will do an average extra damage of 3440 damage (toned down since you won't have Morbidity), plus an extra 344 damage from Unholy Blight. 3784 damage over 160 seconds = ~24 dps. This is also not including the additional 2% chance to crit you'll pick up in the Blood Tree, which will extend to every ability and attack you have - which, with some quick "napkin math" should equate to an approximate 83 dps increase by itself.
So basically, by using your 12/0/59 build instead of the 14/0/57 build, you're doing at least 169 damage per second less than you could be. Doesn't sound like much, but when you consider that, say, the Lich King is a 15-minute-long fight, that amounts to at least 152100 damage you didn't do.
Math doesn't lie.
Mathmatics
talisdar — Fri, 02/26/2010 - 06:49Okay, just an observation.
2 + 2 = 4
2 x 2 = 4
2 - 2 = 0
2 / 2 = 1
See math does not lie. When your stoned, it comes out weird
