Aight, this looks better, still see a few jaggies even with max 32xAA set...not sure why. I now know why they turned off AA though, in this scene with no AA I get 160 FPS +/- and with it, it drops to 40 FPS solid. On older PC's AA will murder FPS.

the grapchis need better to

Atakheal — Tue, 11/29/2011 - 08:29

the grapchis need better to be improved more, Skyrim is more heavy than this game and i can run skyrim well full settings.

SWTOR was runnnig on my comp with 35/40 frames with freezes.

i used nvidia program same like you to force the settings, looking a bit better but horrible performance, you must have a monster of pc.

Monster is the understatement

Knoppix (not verified) — Tue, 11/29/2011 - 12:51

Monster is the understatement of the year.

Their game engine is pushing its limits with SWTOR and seems slightly heavy and not so optimized, I know that the HeroEngine does not support multi-threading which is likely why, it will use a single core on your processor not all 6 if you have a 6 core processor.

Skyrim uses a very good engine Creation, likely with some help from ID software, Bethesda software is an ID publisher. ID only allows their publishers to use ID Tech 5, I am surprised Skyrim did not use it, maybe it was not done yet I do not know. ID builds the engine then generates the assembly code and optimizes it even more at a machine level language and then builds the final compilation, John Carmack is an amazing guy.

If you still only use one

Disrupter — Thu, 12/01/2011 - 10:10

If you still only use one core of your CPU when SWTOR launches, try disabling two of your cores. There is a known issue that prevented six-core CPUs from making use of more than one core. SWTOR gains the most benefit from two cores. There was a benchmark done and it showed SWTOR's performance at one, two, three, four, five, and six cores on a 2.8ghz cpu. The two core benchmark had double the dps, afterwards the fps only slightly increased until six cores were activated. Once that happened the fps dropped down to one core levels.

You missed my point, unless

Knoppix (not verified) — Thu, 12/01/2011 - 15:32

You missed my point, unless they modified the Hero Engine, that engine is single threaded....meaning there is NO way no matter WHAT you do that the functions the engine uses are aware of more than a singe core.  A single core has 2 threads if you use an Intel processor and a dual core Intel has 4 threads all thanks to Hyper-Threading.  So my processor shows I have 12 threads on a 6 core processor...some people think that is 12 processors, it is not, it is 12 threads for a 6 core processor but only for Intel chips.

If the bug you say is true that is bad programming and I will not go messing with my processor to maybe make something work better because they have cannot program properly.  If they cannot program properly then they need to patch is some people do not have to mess with CPU settings, that is just silly to have to do shit like that.
