Downfallers - what PS3 games are must-haves?

Shihli — Mon, 04/08/2013 - 18:31

As the title suggests, I'm thinking about getting a PS3. Any must-have games?

Top PS3 games for me are

God of War series

Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City

Uncharted Series

and Darksiders

I've played both Darksiders

Shihli — Thu, 04/11/2013 - 21:21

I've played both Darksiders games (brilliant series) and have both Arkham games on the PC. God of War and Uncharted are definitely on the list though!

Completely forgot about

cromi — Thu, 04/11/2013 - 18:05

Completely forgot about Uncharted. Get Uncharted.

My list of must-have's so

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:51

My list of must-have's so far:

Ni No Kuni
God of War franchise
Shadow of the Colossus / Ico Remastered
Journey
Demon Souls
Disgaea series

Any other suggestions?

If we're going beyond PS3

saedo — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 19:09

If we're going beyond PS3 exclusives then I'll start listing..

Bastion - Not actually on PS3 apparently, but whatever, play this.
Grand Theft Auto - Always a classic
Sleeping Dogs - It's like GTA, but with Batman style fighting, and in Hong Kong, and a more drama driven story
The Walking Dead - Hop on this bandwagon

I mostly look for exclusives,

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 19:19

I mostly look for exclusives, but I'm always game for good suggestions.

Bastion - already played and 100%'ed
GTA4 - have it, just waiting to play it
Sleeping Dogs - I might have to look into it ...
Walking Dead - never been a big fan of zombie apocalypse stuff

I just want to step in and say that FFXIII was so disappointing I haven't even considered getting final fantasy XIII-2. I don't mind 12 too much but I still think Final Fantasy's best game was the original final fantasy tactics. 12 Wasn't bad ish, still stuck in parts of it simply because I play it so rarely, but not bad.

All this said, I'm not a great person to ask about PS3 games unless they're sports or racing games. Every other game I'd rather just play on my PC.

Gran Tourismo and I think the last World Cup game are the 2 I probably have played the most on my PS3.

I pretty much hated FF13.

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:45

I pretty much hated FF13. Terrible, terrible game imo.

I really liked every FF game up through 10. I played FF11 (the MMO) for a couple of years - it was pretty good. I never really got into 12. But 13 was awful.

I've heard that Ni No Kuni is

cromi — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:11

I've heard that Ni No Kuni is really good.

Bioshock Infinite, and Tomb Raider are both the new games to have.

From my own collection:

Ico and The Shadows of collosus remastered is also really good to have if you have a nice large flatscreen. It's incredibly visually satisfying.

Otherwise, God of War remastered is also a nice game collection to pick up.

And I never forget a lego game. Lego Lord of The Rings is just too much fun to not have.

I already have Bioshock

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:46

I already have Bioshock Infinite and Lego LOTR on the PC, so no need to get those. If I get Tomb Raider it'll be on the PC as well.

I plan to get God of War (the series) and the Ico/Shadow of the Colossus remaster too.

Have to agree with Saedo.

Mehguy — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 17:45

Have to agree with Saedo. FFVI was the best and XIII left me very disappointed with how linear it was. They stopped making good FF games with FFIX.

I would recommend the God of War collection and God of War III. Really fun games.

I do plan to snag the God of

I do plan to snag the God of War collection, thanks!

I have mostly rpgs for ps3

Luminaire — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 14:11

I have mostly rpgs for ps3 but what I would sugguest; Ni No Kuni, Disgaea 3&4, Tales of Graces F, and Demon souls. I would get Dark Souls for PC as you can get DSFix to unlock the framerate and higher resolution than 720p.

I do have Dark Souls for the

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:47

I do have Dark Souls for the PC, but the others sound great.

My picks are... Soul series,

Threerick — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 06:28

My picks are...

Soul series, Demon souls and Dark souls, amazing games.

Dead Space series, awesome games also!

Final Fantasy 13 and 13-2 loved them.

Although non of these are exclusive ps3's.

I loved 13 and 13-2 but I

I loved 13 and 13-2 but I know a lot of people who hated 13-2 for some reason. The combat in 13 was my favorite thus far in any final fantasy game

I hated FF13. I got 25 hours

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:48

I hated FF13. I got 25 hours in - enough to get to the actual open world part - and just couldn't stand any of the characters or their voices (FUCK Vanille).

I played 30 minutes of final

Gares of War — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 13:32

I played 30 minutes of final fantasy 13 and I hated it.

To be fair I haven't enjoyed a final fantasy since ff9. FFX and beyond have characters that burn my blood.

I would suggest the mass effect series or the studio ghibli game seems to be all the rage.

I've got all of the Mass

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:49

I've got all of the Mass Effect games on the 360, but Ni No Kuni promises to be pretty solid!

I'm with you on the FF games though. 'cept FF11 was a pretty good first-shot MMO. It's a shame that FF14 was so fucking terrible.

OH and play Heavy Rain. Not a

Gares of War — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 20:04

OH and play Heavy Rain.

Not a suggestion, it is a must.

Final Fantasy II was the last

Jobs — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 13:34

Final Fantasy II was the last one I played/beat. I liked it.

At least play the best one

saedo — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 16:31

At least play the best one ever. Final Fantasy VI (or III for US SNES).

And also, I'm on the bandwagon that FFXIII was a terrible game.

I thoroughly enjoyed FF4 and

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:49

I thoroughly enjoyed FF4 and FF6 too.

If you like AC, have you

Katzeus — Mon, 04/08/2013 - 21:52

If you like AC, have you checked out Batman Arkham City? It's not PS3 exclusive, but super-bad ass!!!

Also, my friend worked on Journey. I haven't played it, but I know it won Game of the year from her facebook :D

I have Arkham city (and

Shihli — Tue, 04/09/2013 - 18:50

I have Arkham city (and Arkham Asylum) on the PC so odds are I won't be re-buying them. But Journey is one I will be sure to pick up!

Oh Journey, forgot about

saedo — Mon, 04/08/2013 - 22:49

Oh Journey, forgot about that. It'd be on my list of PS3 exclusives too.

The Assassin Creed franchise

Elapsed — Mon, 04/08/2013 - 19:09

The Assassin Creed franchise has been a AMAZING story line.

The new Tomb Raider

God Of War games are amazing spectacle fighters

I heard the new (as in just relaunched) version of Ninja Giaden is great and fixed a lot of the problems with it's initial launch

Yes, I 100%'ed it. Favorite game in the series, if I'm honest.
