Raid: Man Hug Character Evaluation
Atar — Thu, 04/18/2013 - 06:01
We need to every person that raids in Man Hug to be at their peak performance. We'll be going through every raider that has and will be stepping into raid. We expect to see every raider fully enchanted, gemmed with blue quality gems, belt buckles, meta gems, and profession bonuses. If you are missing any of these things we expect you to have it fixed before you're invited into raid next week. No excuses.

Get your shit fixed people! Me along with so many others have offered gems, enchants, shoulder enchants, leg enchants, or anything you could ever want. This is sickening. If this is all the effort we're going to get out of some people then it's a sad day to be apart of this raid.

Ardea — Sun, 04/21/2013 - 20:24The time stamp makes it look like I was slacking... I got the thread thursday night but forgot to put it on until saturday morning.
I fixed my stuff. Yay
Going to change to frost
Cataclism — Sat, 04/20/2013 - 13:55all my gems are wrong because my main spec is Arcane but seeing im doing quite better as frost I think I will re-gem/forge to the frost stats! :) Haven't been able to regem and stuff because I was sick! Throat Infection! But im fine now Ill get my shit together bro's :) don't worry
Frost is the way to go
Shatner — Sat, 04/20/2013 - 17:27I would prefer to go fire but I just don't have the crit gear I need. Pretty close.. but the numbers don't support it. As far as frost goes and that big pile of pixels called Horridon, frost orb and ice lance wreck the adds.
The only reason for fire
Elapsed — Sat, 04/20/2013 - 18:00The only reason for fire right now is if you prefer to play it, all 3 specs are so close together on single target, but on multi target it's frost all the way. So if you don't mind/like frost, then GG it's your lucky day. If you prefer fire even on multi target you need to go frost and then back to fire for more controled single target fights
also going to point out that
FireWire — Sat, 04/20/2013 - 18:54also going to point out that arcane is not the worst for multi target, you just need to never dip below 90% mana and keep NT up on all targets, get 4 stacks and instantly blow them for about 3k dmg all around
ok, you're right it beats out
Elapsed — Sat, 04/20/2013 - 21:34ok, you're right it beats out fire, but frost according to just about everyone in the mage community tops it
*edit* please note this is talking about AOE. With the best gear and 4p T15 Fire and Arcane duke it out for single target
While we are talking about mages...
Shatner — Sat, 04/20/2013 - 20:01Are there any frost-specific ad-ons I should know about? Fire has a few but I haven't seen anything regarding frost.
if you have mage nuggets you
FireWire — Sat, 04/20/2013 - 22:14if you have mage nuggets you are completely set, just need to watch for your CD's/ice lance procs/frostfire procs(use the frost fire as top priority mind you)
other than that if you don't use rune of power ice hud works for managing mana/your health/boss health

THESE MUST ALL BE FIXED BEFORE RAID MONDAY!
Thanks for the audit

Kuroyukihime's Enchant
Dragon — Fri, 04/19/2013 - 02:53"Kuroyukihime - Enchant MH River's Song"
This is wrong. Kuro needs Dancing Steel. Rivers song gives 1650 Dodge Rating, Dancing Steel gives 1650 Str.
Before diminishing returns at Level 90 - 1% Dodge requires 885 Dodge rating
On the same token
Before diminishing returns at Level 90 - 1% Parry requires 952 STR
On top of the fact taht Parry hits dimishing returns slower than dodge, the 1650 str benefits from Kings (and any other percent strength talents you might have) which means they're relatively equal in terms of avoidance (with just kings Dancing Steel actually provides about 1722 str if my napkin math is correct) you also get a damage increase with Dancing Steel from the strength which you will not get from River's Song.
You also have to take into
Mehguy — Fri, 04/19/2013 - 07:34You also have to take into account that a lot of the gear we are currently in, tends to have a SHITLOAD more parry than dodge. I havent looked at Kuro's armory, but i know that Lumi and I are both like over 20% parry and have 10% or less in dodge. Taking Dancing Steel with those numbers gives more of a TDR (total damage reduction) compared to dancing steel. It may not be much but it is greater.
The extra damage you gain from Dancing Steel is essentially negligible compared to not having it. Especially in a 25-man, or even 10 for that matter. Its not going to be enough to be considered a make or break enchant to kill a fight.
There are tanks that use windsong as well to get the 1500 mastery buff. Its all about tank flavor in this expansion. Blizzard does not want to give tanks a GREAT tanking weapon enchant because, like their idea with the new talent tree system, they don't want to make one the "mandatory one" ie cookie cutter.
If he wants to have more TDR, go with River's Song.
More dps (slightly) go Dancing Steel.
Wants to be a mastery hog and have more on blocks whe it procs, go Windsong.
Based on his current armory
Dragon — Fri, 04/19/2013 - 09:27Based on his current armory his dodge is 11% and his parry is at just shy of 21%.
According to this post by Theck on the Sacred Duty blog at 10% dodge, to balance things out you want 21% parry. By the time you're up to 15% dodge, you want up to 39% parry to keep things balanced.
I would still argue then that even in terms of survivability River's song won't outpace Dancing Steel.
note
Mehguy — Fri, 04/19/2013 - 11:05Taking into account your post, then yes, ideally dancing steel should be better for him then.
But not for myself as I'm riding around 21.12% parry and 9.34% dodge. River's Song is better TDR for myself.
But also reference the following link which was made in November, your link was made back last July during Beta testing and was geared off Prot Pali. While its very likely similar or exact to Warriors, I still take some of that with a grain of salt.
http://www.sacredduty.net/2012/11/16/tankadin-weapon-enchants/.
How weapon enchants proc has changed since he made the post. So those have to be taken into effect as well compared to just how they are affected by diminishing returns.
However, in an addendum to that post he made, in 5.2, Blizz gave Dancing Steel an additional 15% chance to proc, which makes it a bit fuzzy, but overall were taking essentially about miniscule numbers, which while they do make a difference, when we are essentually right on the border of which one is slightly better than the other, it really doesn't make too much of a difference right now unless we were really heavy on dodge/parry one way or the other.
Ya I've searched high and low
Dragon — Fri, 04/19/2013 - 11:16Ya I've searched high and low for a decide compliation for warriors. Prot Paladins have Sacred Duty and the EJ Prot paladin guide, Blood DKs and Brewmasters have amazings threads on EJ as well. The Prot Warrior thread though is really just a big Q and A with no cohesive informative first post there.
Almost makes me wonder if we should move this to its own topic on the website at this point.
Yeah the lack of Prot warrior
shroom — Fri, 04/19/2013 - 13:26Yeah the lack of Prot warrior guides since the pre-MOP patch is pretty unfortunate. I've looked High and Low, but aside from general stat reforging and BiS lists, not been able to find much useful. One thing to note, if your tanking in a situation where your getting hit more then twice every three seconds, either by a faster swinging boss timer, or your tanking multiple adds, the mastery enchant starts to really outshine the other two, at least in my opinion. Im not a mathy person, but your incoming damage is also smoother with mastery, as opposed to dodge or parry. Even if you were to take 2-4% more damage, the lower stress on your healers might be beneficial.
Windsong and Tanking
Dragon — Fri, 04/19/2013 - 14:28My problems with windsong and tanking is that its not guaranteed to proc Mastery when it does proc. Even for a prot paladin (as a comparison) where haste also benefits survivability its still ranked below Dancing Steel, Colossus and River's Song in terms of survivability.
Not only does the mastery proc (1 of 3) turn Windsong into another spikey enchant, but it doesn't even fully reduce teh damage like Dancing Steel or River's Song would.
In theory mitigating a high
shroom — Sat, 04/20/2013 - 09:01In theory mitigating a high percentage of every incoming melee attacks damage due to blocks is less effective overall then completely avoidong the damage from every other one, and then mitigating a smaller amount from the non-avoided ones, but the spike damage cause by scenario two can be harder on healers, specially in a long fight where they are trying to conserve mana.
Another enchant you mentioned is Colossus. Mr. Robot wants me to use that as my Echant, and i know it has a 6rppm chance, where as windsong and dancing steal have 2 and 2.3 respectively. if you average 40k less damage per minute, which can include spell damage that none of the others can negate, it seems foreseeable that it will be better then either of the other three. Dancing Steel gives about 1.7% parry(from strength) before DR, which if you're getting hit every 1.5 seconds, in a three minute span you would avoid 2 hits(2.04), where as colossus would have mitigated 120k damage. I dont think ive been hit yet for 60k white damage, but obviously im not at the raiding level you guys are.
I like it. Thanks for the
