Fingerstyle Guitar
Vulk — Tue, 04/01/2008 - 11:07
I've finally thought of something i can post in my blog, one of my guilty pleasures in music. Fingerstyle Guitar. Most of you have watched my Vids and have heard some of the common types of music I listen to, and its normal music for any 18 year old to listen to. But my all time favorite is listening to Fingerstyle Guitarists play.
I listen to this music at least 50% of the time. Just to name a few I listen to Antoine Dufour (my all time favorite), Andy McKee and Don Ross. These guys have skill that is incomprehensible. Sometimes I could swear there is at least two to three people playing at once yet it is just the one guy who is one with his guitar!
So you can all her some compositions from these guys here are some videos from YouTube.
Andy Mckee - Drifting
Don Ross - Loaded, Leather, Moonroof
And the best for last! Antoine Dufour - Development
Sometimes Antoine pairs up with a violinist (Tommy Gauthier) and have made my all time favorite song. So here it is: Tommy Gauthier & Antoine Dufour - Spiritual Groove
Antoine Dufour - Trilogie
Imagine this stuff on Guitar Hero lol

If you guys like this kinda
Roguered — Tue, 04/01/2008 - 13:14If you guys like this kinda thing check out Tommy Emmanuel. I have watched him play live and one of his songs sounds like a Pink Floyd song. He also can play yankee doodle and dixie at the same time on one guitar.
Here's a few videos to check out:

Other noteworthy solo
Pettingzoo — Tue, 04/01/2008 - 11:46Other noteworthy solo musicians like this:
Kaki King (guitar but unlike anything you've ever heard - noteworthy song for her: "Playing with pink noise")
Michael Manring (bass harmonics - noteworthy song for him: "Selene")
Of course Andy McKee (whom you already have). Candyrat records signs some AMAZING artists...you can really just browse through their site and blindly order CDs and win 90% of the time.
When I started listening to purist-esque music like this, I started to get really into a capella music as well. I'd suggest looking up BYU Vocal Point, SoCal VoCals, BYU Noteworthy, Vocal Spectrum, MaxQ and just give some of them a listen.
