as a wierd point on the
Keisjaa — Sat, 04/12/2008 - 11:00as a wierd point on the elemental shaman thing:
1- wou give melee a WF totem anyhow, WHY give up the enhancement shammy(to go ele) only to put a resto in there anyway
2- turth needs a spreist, but we benefit very little from an elemental shammy(much more form a resto)
Sample grouping(assuming your attendence):
group 1: PK,MNOR,NUIT,KATI,GARRETH (tree aura,FR Aura,CMD shout for P2)
Group 2: NHIA,KEISJAA,TANKARD,CLOSER,CISPER (Could even swap tank & sorahn places if tank doesn't feel he needs a tree/spriest)
Group 3: CALIROLL,ANTIQUITE,DISRUPTER,EPATRICK,NETTI
Group4: SHIHLI,LUMINAIRE,VULK,SORAHN,HEALER
Group 5: TURTH,SAEDO,KYBOSH,STARSTALKER,Last dps if melee
This is of course assuming optimal class spread....you know how THAT tends to go..
Starting to ramble
**oh and Epat, i really don't use totem of wrath to anything NEAR it's full potential(i'm already over hit cap & only 2 spells crit)
Sorry I couldn't make it

All true points. And the
Shihli — Sat, 04/12/2008 - 02:39All true points. And the only real reason that Keis and Turth had to be buddied up in that group is that a raiding elemental shaman is dead in the water without a shadowpriest.
As far as the other healers are concerned, resto druids at the moment have outrageously good mana regen, and if any of our holy paladins get healed after taking damage they get mana back. Considering during Phase 2 they're taking heaps of damage, they get healed and get mana back - that combined with already mana-efficient heals makes for an easier time for them compared to CoH-spamming priests or Chain Heal-spamming shamen.
But overall I agree with your point, it'd be more worth our time to try to balance out all of our groups' potentials as best we can, and not have a "lol leftovers" group like we often do. If we get Anti and Keis in on Monday, that'd probably work out much better than it did tonite.

Cisper — Sat, 04/12/2008 - 02:37This situation is mute with our Regular Raid Make-up for two Shadow Priests.
What I'm saying is we're
Epatrick — Sat, 04/12/2008 - 02:34What I'm saying is we're healer focused to the exclusion of maxing out the other possibilities I see. The aoe healers benefit a great deal from keisjaa, but turth's totems were pretty much wasted in that group, as he and keisjaa were the only ones using them to full effect. Our healers in other groups seem to do very well while having no mana battery to power them. also, healers will have more mana if we kill the flames faster, as there won't be as many barrages/eye beams/fireballs/random omg heal me shit going on.
We're healer focused because
Shihli — Sat, 04/12/2008 - 02:23We're healer focused because we kind of want, y'know, the healers to have mana after Phase 2 is over :P
Netti, why the hell are you,
Cisper — Sat, 04/12/2008 - 02:15Netti, why the hell are you, a frost mage here, lower than sorahn who can't cast his main spells for 1/5 of the fight? You're doing damage on par with someone in Kara gear, not like someone in your gear should be doing. YOU NEED TO PICK IT UP MAN.
The Parasites were absolutely perfect, they were controlled fast and killed on the spot, making no issue to the raid. Why so? Nettibebb ran back to intervene as someone got the debuff - and when someone died prematurely, he'd jump in and kill them. Granted, the other mages help too, but I saw all the times people got the debuff, Netti was there to get them.
And as Epatrick said, give the casters (specifically Warlocks), are chance to prove they can do what the mages (if not more) can. Tonights raid make-up with this "OMG ELEMENTAL SHAMAN WHAT TO DO" was a new situation, it just needs co-ordination.
Either way, Illidan dies on Monday or will be pretty fucking pissed =p
Because I'm feeling feisty
Epatrick — Sat, 04/12/2008 - 02:10Because I'm feeling feisty and usually keep pretty quiet on group comp, check out try 3 where the elemental shaman is buffing the top 3 caster dps two of which are warlocks that strugge to break into the top 5 on other fights usually. Increased dmg by a metric fuckton. purple squares benefit just as much, if not more than light blue squares from an elemental shaman. Especially since a Warlock's sole job on this fight is to blast the ever loving hell out of illidan, the more crit The warlocks have, the more dmg the shadow priests will do, and the more mana they'll return.
Looking at parses from other guilds in the same gear as us, I see a really large disparity most nights on where warlock dmg is compared to ours, i think this is because warlocks are very good at being the most self sufficient (and therefore least worried about class dmg wise) here is an experiment we might try : put the two non tanking warlocks with the shaman, a shadow priest and another mage. Watch what happens. I guarantee you the synergy of all the different class mechanics (one lock with an imp for caster stam buff, one shadow priest to support lock tapping and keeping the shaman and mage from ooming and the destro lock being able to stack more crit and therefore keeping up Crit bolt while the shamans totems allow continued casting/heroism and omfg wtf crit/hit i pwn your face) Will make you think twice about which group is your "dps group".
right now we have a very healer focused mindset for groups overall and we stick the warlocks where they fit. Group five Is given wf, a battleshout, and most times when turth is enh, unleashed rage. If we buff a ranged caster group the same way (making one caster dps group and one melee dps group) I really think you'll see a jump in overall dps and quicker phase transitions. Our tanks have the threat, give us (the locks and other casters) the tools to push them.

And, because I'm feeling feisty:
Lessons learned from phase 2: Heal like you're lighting your mana on fire. There is no conservation of heals on Mnor or Nuit. When we moved to this strat, it was remarkably smoother on the poor Fire Bear.
Librameister (http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=9749.0) ROCKS! Look for "Grace of the Naaru" here: http://wowwebstats.com/q5wv3tlre5uno?a=26#buffs That's the mod switching out that libram while it ticks, replacing it with something in the interim. Sooooo good.
I think we got enough WF.
saedo — Sat, 04/12/2008 - 00:20I think we got enough WF. It's just that the majority of our fights were in phase 2 where we can't do jack shit which is why we seem so low.
Don't think melee needs more HP, I think I'm prob the lowest HP of the bunch and I can only think of 3 stupid pre-mature deaths on my part.
1. I got too close to the fire blaze, learned to be more careful.
2. I got too close to Tankard, spaced out chasing purple beam demons, learned to remember to look for Tankard.
3. I was too close to other ppl while chasing demons and got the AoE flame crash 3 times, learned to probably make demons a second priority and just stay put if flame crash is coming.
Because it bears
Shihli — Fri, 04/11/2008 - 10:17Because it bears emphasis:
Assuming Turth goes elemental and everything else falls into place:
Keisjaa, Antiquite, Turth - Watch Your Threat. Elemental shaman in particular have an extremely rough time with threat management because remarkably, it's even more spiky than enhancement is.
On my (occasionally elemental) shaman, I can see the following all occur within 2 seconds:
- Chain Lightning (crit)
- Lightning Overload procs, free Chain Lightning (crit)
- Lightning Capacitor procs, free Lightning Bolt (crit)
That's 10k-ish damage in 2 seconds. And that's off of ONE spell cast.
I don't want to see silly wipes because of bad threat management on Turth's part, and with our shadowpriests getting juiced up with shamans, it'll be even harder for them to manage their already-hard-to-manage threat.
I'm officially calling group
garreth — Fri, 04/11/2008 - 12:55I'm officially calling group 3 the "juiced up with shamans" group from now on. God, that had me lol'ing at work so hard.
And because it bears repeating: Everyone must have the up-to-the-millisecond version of Omen for this fight ESPECIALLY PK, Mnor and Nuit. The tanks' threat meters sets the standard that all the other dps has to go off of.
Lightning overload causes no

starstalker — Fri, 04/11/2008 - 09:46I will be on and available all night if needed. Hooray for early thursday bedtimes!
As for flasks, I dont see 500hp making that large of a difference. I'd rather take an assault and conserve mana in order to use a health pot, which restores more health than the fort flask would provide anyways.
My $.02 at least.

I'm looking at an optimal
garreth — Fri, 04/11/2008 - 09:19I'm looking at an optimal healing set-up like this:
Pallys
Garreth
Vulk
Priest
Cisper
Druids
Closer
Katibug
Vossa
Shammys
Nhia
Caliroll
That's THREE aoe healers, with special focus on Fire tanks (Mnor and Nuit) if need be. Garreth heals Nuit, Vulk heals Mnor. Closer, Kati and Vossa ALL full stack HoTs on BOTH fire tanks. With three stacks of triple lifebloom, rejuvs and regrowths on both Mnor and Nuit, Vulk and I's job of evening out the spike damage will be much easier. I saw our druids do this quite well on Bloodboil, let's do it again. Remember: Save your long cooldowns and mana for Phase 2.
Groups will look roughly like this tonight, with a little reasoning as to why:
Tank group 1
Pk
Nuit
Garreth (devo/fire aura)
Katibug (tree)
Weave (imp out)
Tank Group 2
Mnorthreat
Vossa (tree)
Shihli/Star/Lumi (we'll see who's on and be flexible)
Tankard (imp out)
Vulk (devo/fire/crusader aura. most likely crusader aura)
Caster Group
Turth (elemental totems)
Antiquite
Karlizeth (arcane)
Disrupter (frost)
Sorahn/Dufe (frost, depending on who is on)
Caster Group
Nhia (wrath of air, mana tide)
Keisjaa
Closer (tree)
Epatrick
Cisper (depending on who's on)
Melee Group
Caliroll (WF, sorry, but I only pick you because you can handle it)
Shin
Ewiges
Kybosh
Saedo
And, of course, I have no idea if all these people will actually sign on. It looks like I've screwed over the hunters on this, but I really haven't. Basically, we can stick a BM in any group and they kick a lot of ass so they could easily replace the three warlocks that don't show up tonight (hahaha! Just kidding! Not really..)
Also, this is a question that has been bouncing in my head in preparation of this fight: Should all our damage dealers be using fort flasks instead of their dps flasks? Will the extra 500 health per person make or break phase 2? Or should we be fully maxed out for nuking as much as possible? Should Tankard be Soul Link spec to make Demon form easier on the healers? If Tankard was SL, would he be able to take imp imp?
