Hamfist, healers, raiding, etc
Shihli — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 11:37
So right now we've only got 5 "reliable" (read: there everynight, on time, ready to rock, with stable connections) healers in Hamfist. That's right, only five.
Garreth
Vulk
Katibug
Closer
Caliroll
In many circumstances and on a number of boss fights, we need no fewer than eight (8) to make it a smooth kill. Of our "less reliable" healers, we have:
Alydis
Clos
Cisper (only recently due to university)
So basically, if the stars align and we butcher a holy goat we can expect to have a smooth raid. Otherwise, we will be dragging our feet and praying to whatever gods might be listening that we can actually kill something on a given night.
Off-spec, limited-attendance, and alt healer options are also limited:
Luchs (T4 geared w/ some experience)
Turth (T4+ geared w/ some good experience)
Irnub (T4 geared w/ little healing experience)
Antiquite ON CORETWO or CISPER
Magieck
Warion (when LF1M isn't raiding)
Captnopants (when LF1M isn't raiding)
Basically, what I'm posting this for is this:
I'm begging that any guildie that is a qualified healer, that has run with us in the past, consider the option of helping out as often as they can. We want to kill Illidan. At our current pace and rate, we won't. It's that simple. At our current pace we cannot kill him. We're losing so many healers and bleeding so much loot because of it, that it's going to become a festering boil of raid non-progression that will be hard to shed, without a little help from our guildies.
I know a number of people grow tired of healing, get sick of it, would rather do something else. Grass is always greener, etc etc. But please, those of you who have ever helped heal in a Hamfist raid and have extra time that you CAN spend helping us out while we're searching for about 1027994 more healers, we would really deeply appreciate the help.
So on a night that we're asking for more healers, and you see the call and you're dinking around on an alt - please give it a moment and think about possibly helping the 7th highest-progressed guild on the server get one step closer to Sunwell. Because at our current speed, we'll never get there.
Thanks.

whatever happened to Vossa anyway? He was here, and now he's just *poof* gone.
2 -3 weeks shouldn't cause
Dufe — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 13:262 -3 weeks shouldn't cause much burn-out, heck Saedo and I did it for a few weeks earlier this year. Like I said though, my suggestion was less about actually cutting a raid night and more aimed at getting people to think a little differently, at least about the short term.
Although your solution would
Dragon — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 13:15Although your solution would solve the current problem Dufe. What worries me is how many more healers it might burn out causing a larger healing problem in the longrun just to solve a healing problem in the short.

BANDAIDS AND HEALERS! I C
garreth — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 13:14BANDAIDS AND HEALERS! I C WUT U DID DER!
It's going to be rough for a bit till we get the healer situation worked out. I'm not opposed to possibly holding off on a Wednesday for a week or two. Let's see how this week plays out.
Agreed, Dufe. Hamfist
Shihli — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 12:50Agreed, Dufe. Hamfist needs a bandaid until we get an actual fix to our raid healer problems.
Just trying to get some more
Dufe — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 12:47Just trying to get some more "out of the box" thinking, really. In truth though, any change should only need to be temporary until enough recruits are found.
At either rate we'd be
Shihli — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 12:38At either rate we'd be asking LF1M healers to raid upwards of 6 nights a week, which is a pretty steep demand by anyone's standards.
I'm going to make the
Dufe — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 12:25I'm going to make the ultimate in unpopular suggestions: Hamfist drops raiding on Wed so they can use a few LF1M healers, just until we recruit enough new Hamfist healers for them to be self-sustaining again. Let the flames begin!
Or shift one of the raids
saedo — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 12:29Or shift one of the raids (Hamfist or LF1M) to Sun so there's no overlap at all?
Just a note in reference to
Aidin — Tue, 04/08/2008 - 12:10Just a note in reference to those of us "dinking around on an alt". Please consider that some of us are dinking around for a limited amount of time. While I'd love to come in and heal for an hour or two, it doesn't help the situation at all to say ...
"Ok guys, those were some solid shots...but I gotta go to bed now, GL to you going a healer short"
I simply can't do this...it's just not right. On week nights where I've come in to help out, I'm sitting there dying inside cause I'm tired, and know I need to go to bed, but can't let down 24 other people, so I sit and suffer. Which again, doesn't benefit the raid to have a healer 1/2 asleep at her keyboard.
So in summary...I'm dinking around on my alt for a far shorter span of time then I'd be needed to be in raid.
