How to be prepared for WotLK
chrislow — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 14:12
Prior to the release of TBC there was a lot of freaking out, people thought the world (of warcraft) was gonna end, some stockpiled goods, found shelter and hoped for the best. Others let it all hang out and went with it.
And then there were the prepared.
I wasn't prepared. Hell, I had moved on a month prior to release. But some great ideas amongst my old guild were passed around on how to be prepared for it. I forgot most of them, but here are a few things i'm going to try.
- A couple weeks prior to release I'll do 25 quests and wait for wotlk to turn them in. That should equal a 250k exp head start. I don't think dailies count. This was an idea that actually did work for people when TBC came out.
- Hording gold.... might help, I can't keep my gold above 100 most of the time though. This might not be an option for me.
- Respeccing to an easier-to-level spec (read: DPS). Unless instancing can offer around the same rate of exp gain as questing can in WotLK, i'll be going shadow to level it up.
Any other ideas here?

If your "friend" knows that
Shihli — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 14:41If your "friend" knows that your gear will be obsolete, why is he farming badges and honor? I sincerely doubt that Badges will be used for any gear past TBC (otherwise you could just farm old content for the best gear available at 80) ...
Likewise, your "friend" seems to be stating something that Blizzard has said the opposite - they have said the gear jump from 70-80 won't be as drastic as that from 60-70.
I was advised by a friend
Fjork — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 14:38I was advised by a friend who might or might not have an alpha key that just like BC, your gear will be obsolete quickly in WotLK.
So he's been farming Badges of Justice, hording his honor points, and farming all 350+ mats for enchanting/mining/etc. He's gonna store them all on five different characters, flood the AH with high-prices, and use the money to max-out enchanting on his new Death Knight.
Collect pvp gear. Though I
saedo — Wed, 05/28/2008 - 14:34Collect pvp gear. Though I believe the first week or 2 there was a bit of a truce while everyone was trying to hit that 70. Then open warfare after that. lol
