In regard to T4/T5 Enh sets
[Cyclone Harness]
[Cataclysm Harness]
I was trolling wowhead and noticed that the 2 piece set bonus for the T5 set seems rather cool: in instant cast Lesser Healing Wave. What I am wondering is the usefullness of this bonus. Things to consider:
- macro usage:
i.e.
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Stormstrike
/cast [Target = player] Lesser Healing Wave
/stopcasting
- proc frequency
- gcd problems
- any issue that may force reduction in dps due to timing of abilities.
Also, aside from stat and equip buffs, is this set bonus actually better than the T4 4 piece set bonus?
Thoughts and recommendations are welcome :)

the T5 bonus sucks for ele
Frosst (not verified) — Wed, 06/04/2008 - 15:53the T5 bonus sucks for ele and enh shamys, however the reduces mana cost for lesser healing wave rocks for resto shamys . i cant tell u how many times i rely on lesser healing wave to get someone up real fast... the %5 less mana needed gievs me a lot mroe heals in the long run. :) love my t5
That makes a whole lot of
Finndo — Wed, 06/04/2008 - 14:36That makes a whole lot of sense about the "why should an enh shammy be healing?" question. This is just speculation as I don't even have a single T5 piece yet. Another thign to consider here are the actual stat bonuses that are received from 2 pieces of t5 gear. If those stats can make up for the lost T4 4 piece bonus, would it then be reasonable? This is quite a stretch but is worth considering.
Castsequence is simple: For
Shihli — Wed, 06/04/2008 - 14:15Castsequence is simple:
For example, hunters make use of the following macro:
/castsequence reset=3 Auto Shot, Steady Shot
What it does is, the first time you hit the macro it starts Auto Shot. The second time you hit the macro, it casts the next spell in the sequence - which in this case is Steady Shot. If you hit it a third time, since there is no third spell in the sequence it will go back to Auto Shot.
The "reset=3" part means that if the macro is not hit after 3 seconds, it will "reset" back to the first spell in the line. Without a reset callout, if you hit it once (to fire Auto Shot) then don't hit it again for a long time, the next time you hit it it will cast Steady Shot.
I'm 99% sure that you can do
Amenn — Wed, 06/04/2008 - 14:03I'm 99% sure that you can do this:
"
/cast Stormstrike
/cast [Target = player] Lesser Healing Wave
"
In a macro. I'm fairly certain you can't cast two spells with one macro. You can use the cast sequence thing, but I don't really understand how that works.
It wouldn't be a 3k heal.
Shihli — Wed, 06/04/2008 - 13:55It wouldn't be a 3k heal. It'd be closer to a 1.5k heal.
Well, check this out: If
garreth — Wed, 06/04/2008 - 13:49Well, check this out:
If that instant heal is tied to stormstrike through a macro -- and if it actually works -- this is essentially a FREE heal without ever having to even think about it. Probably procs every 45 seconds too. Think about all the times a nice 3k heal crit could save Turth!
My views: T5 2/5 bonus is
Shihli — Wed, 06/04/2008 - 13:44My views:
T5 2/5 bonus is rubbish. If you're raiding as enhancement shaman, you don't exactly worry about healing ... pretty much ever. Sure you can toss an emergency heal here and there but overall it's a waste of a bonus. As far as it being better than the 4/5 T4 bonus, I don't think it's better at all. T4 has excellent bonuses - +20str to Strength of Earth totem, and +30 damage per weapon from Stormstrike. If I were in your shoes I'd probably only worry about swapping T4 for T5 in the event that you get 4/5 T5 for the haste bonus.
DPS wise. No. As an enh
saedo — Wed, 06/04/2008 - 13:42DPS wise. No. As an enh shaman, you'd rarely rarely ever heal. And if you're forced to, something's wrong. Or one of those rare exceptions in the game.
