Jack Thompson Walks Out On Hearing, Court Recommends Enhanced Disbarment

Well, Ole Jackie T. walked out of his disbarment hearing today before
the proceedings were even finished. Subsequently, the presiding Judge
Tunis recommended an "enhanced disbarment." We're not exactly sure what
the "enhanced" part adds to the punishment, but we're thinking it
involves him turning in his pants AND sock garters.
The best part is Thompson's epic statement to the courtroom where he
called Judge Tunis "incompetent and arrogant" and threatened to have
her removed from office "in the days and weeks ahead."
"I am “guilty” of being right and ahead of the curve when it came to Howard Stern and as to Grand Theft Auto. Because I took on Bar complainant, Al Cardenas, the Howard Stern Show is off terrestrial radio and his influence diminished."
Right. It had nothing to do with the fact that Sirius offered him $500 million to go off terrestrial radio.
He goes on: "Because I took on this cop-killing, woman-bashing video
game, the Presidential race is now addressing the issue and this
particular video game… Try to get me disbarred. Go ahead, do your
worst, Referee Tunis. I will continue to do my best."
If he is disbarred, he'll be prevented from applying to practice law for 10 years anywhere in the U.S.

Anything on display is an empty box so potential customers can read the information of the game before purchace. As for kids buying them, besides it being law, its also against company policy to sell an M rated game (or as you refer to it as, pron-game) to any minor. On that note, we are some sick twisted asshats at Gamestop and we get off on disappointing children by saying, "you can't buy this game turd, your too young."
Shihli is absolutely right, MR. Jack has been trying to stop production of violent video games, because like most great Bullshitters, he has hypocracy in his logic. Violence in video games=bad? but Violence in TV/News/Movies=better than sex in any of those things. ??
Also its a valid point that sometimes a good slaughterfest in game helps release tensions of the day. God knows anyone of us has had that day where we wanted to strangle just about anyone we ran into. Seriously most people are driven to violence from stress and pressure, not GTA, although afterplaying it I am half tempted to steal me a car and beat a hooker...whoops, No seriously, I'd just steal gas.
I think Enchanced Disbarment referes to an extended period past 10 years before one can practice law again, or even a perminant disbarment.

If everything he said is true, he's been seriously getting *&^%ed around.
However, my realistic side notes that his defense is primarily around how the Judge hasn't been paying attention to laws, most especially the First Amendment.
I find that amusing because the freedom of speech should protect the non-spoken communication as well shouldn't it? Wouldn't video games fall under that umbrella?
The conservatist in me says that I halfway agree with him. From what I've been able to garner, he doesn't actually want the video games off the shelves, just kept in locked displays that you have to be 18 to purchase from. Kind-of like a pron display in a game-stop to prevent children from purchasing these games. I approve whole-heartedly of having pron-rated video games available behind the counter in game stores across the country.
