Update on my situation.

Hey everyone, just trying to update you all on my current internet situation after the move.
First of all GRATS! I was hoping you all could get that son of a... I mean Kaelgos down before my return :)
As of now I have gotten internet set up but only directly through the modem. My LAN and WLAN need to be resetup. I tohught I would just be able to plug everythign back in and have it all work because it was sert up at my old house. Unfortunantly though that is not the case... I have to dig up the old CD I used to set up my network in the first place. Hopefuly I can find it by tomorrow for raid.
I would hook up my computer here directly to the modem but my sister is homeschooled and the deadline to have everything done is the 6th. I imagine that will take them the better part of the evening, so they need the internet.
Hope to see you all soon, wow I miss WoW. Have a good one.
P.S. This cursed comp doesnt have spell check so dont kill me for errors lol.

Problem solved... turns out
Vulk — Fri, 06/06/2008 - 14:26Problem solved... turns out the power adapters got mixed up.. I used the only adapter in the bag for the router and it turns out it was the wrong one. Its output was 9 volt AC when it needs 12 volt DC, had to track one of those down. Anyway, I'm going to a grad party tonight so i will be MIA for one last night.

Agoney — Fri, 06/06/2008 - 07:02Ya, almost always turn your modem on before your router. Routers for odd reasons dont always forward their mac addresses properly to the ISP if they've been up before the internet is active.
Also, check your router. Log into it and make sure its recieving an IP automatically from your ISP (unless your paying for it to be static).
Vuuuuuuulk! If nothing

If you didn't replace the modem, what Katibug suggested *should* work. Here's hoping it does.
Are you connecting to the
Katibug — Thu, 06/05/2008 - 23:57Are you connecting to the router, but unable to get out? If so, there's a spiffy trick that I completely forgot about.
Your network should be the same, i would think. Just unplug everything (not the computer tho) and start with the modem. Keep all of the CAT5 connections connected, just kill the power on all of the devices.
Plug the modem in and wait for all the lights to turn on and show that it's transmitting.
Then plug in the router and wait for all of the lights to turn on as well and signal that it's working.
Damn IP addresses and all that jazz had me frustrated for a good 30 mins until i called Garreth about it, lol.
Try that, cause your CD with instructions is most likely going to say the same thing.
