Checking In...

Greetings to you all from the other side!
It's always refreshing to be running through the innards of Shattrath and see many familiar names that I raided the halls of Molten Core with many a year ago. It's great to see you all are still incredibly successful and I feel that sets a great example for others on this server to emulate.
I'm sure many of you are aware of the recent rift in the Lords of Fear guild caused by the departure of a rather high-ranking member of my officer core. I would be lying if I said I had all the answers and even after several days knew the full extent of what is going on with all this. I know that Cornholio/Khamull had plenty of interaction with you all and at one point, was a successful and contributing member of your raid groups. I know that he recieved a lot of guidance and experience that was invaluable in carrying our raid group to where it has progressed up to this point and I want to thank you all for allowing us to share in your experience.
For those of you that aren't aware: Last Friday, the Lords of Fear had a scheduled raid in SSC taking place that evening immediately following our weekly guild officer meeting. All was well through the officer meeting and through most of the raid and nothing seemed amiss. Cornholio was in attendance to the meeting, contributed to discussion and brought up pertinent points that were to be addressed. The raid followed, which he led and resulted in relative success. This is where things get a little weird... Towards the end of the raid, Cornholio (remember, raid leader) drops from Vent well before the official end of the raid that night and has a little tirade over raid chat. The raid is soon called for the evening because we're without a coherently communicating raid leader and it was nearing closing time anyway. Cornholio appears to have logged off for the evening and within minutes, 20 characters have left LoF and another 20 follow within an hour, all without a word. In the aftermath, I begin to hear murmurings that this is something that has been orchestrated by Cornholio and a few of his cohorts, and that it has been in the works now for some time.
Can I verify this? No, not really. Cornholio still won't communicate with me, so I'm running on whatever information that I can glean from others and try to put the pieces together. I find this incredibly frustrating because, most significantly, I feel betrayed and double-crossed by a person who I thought was a friend and a raid leader/officer in good standing. What I would like to hear from you all is if any of you have any pertinent information to share about Cornholio/Khamull as we in LoF try to pick up the pieces and rebuild what he has torn apart in his rather hasty departure. Most significantly, did you see this coming? Am I just too dense to see problems that were right under my nose? Did he come to any of you to discuss this? I know he spent plenty of time with you all and considered many of you to be friends, so I'm curious if any of you have information that can help me clear this up.
Much respect,
--Lafiel

Thanks for your insight,
Thrash — Mon, 06/16/2008 - 14:30Thanks for your insight, guys. I know it's hard to be objective in matters like this that are so "out there"... The pieces are starting to come together over here, but please still keep me in mind if you find anything else out.
Respect.

Corn (Khamul) has come with
Ardea — Thu, 06/12/2008 - 14:50Corn (Khamul) has come with us a few times to Smash and grab with a few of his raiders.
My information is bias and probably only partially correct... My brother was one of the first to leave.
The main reason behind my brother's departure was "disrespect showed to him" when he was on vent having a private conversation with a raid officer (Corn) by a guild officer.
My brother was going to apply to Downfall but I believe Corn and the others convinced him to hang out with them a bit longer.
That is about all I know.
I do acknowledge that bias occurs.
we have taken exumed corn
Grasen — Thu, 06/12/2008 - 21:22we have taken exumed corn and wizz on some tk/ssc runs. I talked with them quite a bit about hunter therycraft and strats but no guild politics ever came up. Sorrry but i dont have anything to offer there.
Hi, Lafiel. It's been a
garreth — Thu, 06/12/2008 - 13:41Hi, Lafiel. It's been a long, long time. Oh, how I miss the MC days!
We've been through a similar situation as the one you describe above. Somehow -- in WoW like in parts of real life -- there is a massive misconception that if you just throw enough "hardcore" people at an obstacle it will be cease to be an issue. In the raiding game, too many people think that there is an easy solution to downing bosses: THROW GEAR AT IT BEING WORN BY HYPERACTIVE TEENAGERS! YEAH! Unfortunately what most of these people quickly learn is that a guild and a raid is about people: good solid, trustworthy people that you can depend on. Unless you're Blood Faith. Then all bets are off.
I talk to Jaibyrd often in-game. She's run a few Molten Core nostalgia runs with us and has given me a quick version of what went on. The last time Corn ran with us was when both of Downfall's raids were still in TK. Haven't seen much of him since. I have to admit that bailing without warning or communication for ANY reason is a terrible offense in my book. The only thing we have in WoW to keep a group together and functional is trust. Once you've broken trust, the whole system collapses.
Like I said, my communication with Corn has been little to none over the last few months. I'd hate to lose all respect for a guy we helped make a great paladin :(
