how to get in chat...

Since we moved to the new server you may have noticed that you can no longer access our chat via the chat link. This will be fixed as soon as i can get the media temple server to quit being a B@$@h.

The chat resides on a server apart from the downfall webserver, which means 1 less bandwidth usage, and 2 less server resources used. That is good because it decreases the amount of money out of garreths pocket and lets us keep the site as fast as possible
the chat system we use is called IRC (internet relay chat) and i'm sure many of you have heard of it and know how to use it, however for those who don't, and may be behind a firewall there are some easy solutions for you.

It is really easy just go to http://www.mibbit.com and use the following information

server irc.freenode.net (for techies)

name enter whatever name you want

channel #downfall (yes pound downfall, the pound is reqired on irc :)

it is very easy just follow those 4 steps and you can chat with all of us! aidin routinely brings waffles and other things, so come chat with us!

lol aidin is the pidgin expert i use trillian here is the sc for those who need to know how to set it up

connection manager > add new connection > irc

trillian

input the data (3 fields w/ name you can put any name)

once that is done your connection is setup to use click connect

right click the connection manager bubble for irc (bottom right) say show status window, new window pops up with the irc server info type /join #downfall and you are in :) at this point you can close the server status window

this is for atar and the others who may have mibbit blocked

you can use programs like trillian or pidgin to connect to irc as well if you are allowed to install them

another option is to use a web proxy (google it for other options) such as https://www.kproxy.com/index.jsp and then start browsing you should be able to navigate to mibbit through the proxy
