Kitten Brigade Sign Ups
Yep. This is our first 25-man raid, post Wrath release; five weeks after release, to be exact.
So you want to be a part of it, do you? No, really, are you sure? I'll wait for you to think about it because I'm not fucking around in Wrath. Get ready to dance.
First let me rant: Hamfist has replaced roughly 75% of it's raiders over the lifetime of it's BC raiding career, most of those people multiple times, and I know that LF1M is in a similar boat (WTB shadow priests). It slowed us down, caused us frustration and generally resulted in a whole lot of un-fun fucking around. The gear drain we faced from people coming in for a few weeks/months, soaking up some gear and then leaving absolutely gimped us.
I have vowed to avoid that in our Wrath raid. What does this mean to you? It means both the Hamfist and the LF1M raids are being dissolved and new raids will rise from their ashes. It also means you might get to see some massively progressive content if you can meet the new, very strict standards.
This event sign up is just for the FIRST raid that we'll form in Wrath. This raid runs four nights a week, about 4 hours a night. The SECOND raid will start five weeks after this one (late January) and will raid on a lighter schedule, 3 nights a week. But don't let the lighter schedule fool you. You'll be held to the same standards as the first raid.
So, you want to be a part of our Naxx-stomping first raid? Then you gotta commit. Hard. Here's what we're looking for.
Attendance, attendance, attendance
Gone are the days of our "Tuesday-only" raiders, or whatever. I'm sorry, but my days as Schedule Master to pander to 10 different raiders that can all only raid one or two days a week are gone. I won't do it. Instead, this raid will be full of people who WILL make all days. If you have a rough schedule, please consider the other raid or a lighter 10-man course in the expansion. Our raiders will ABSOLUTELY be held to their attendance. So it's clear: you commit 100% to four nights a week or don't sign up.
You WANT to be there
Are you the guy that always wants to end early or pass on the one last shot? Do you hate logging in on raid nights? Do you immediately switch to an alt after you're done raiding on your main because you "hate your main"? K. I don't want you in this raid. I want 25 people that fucking LOVE raiding. I want 25 people that are SEXUAL about their raiding. You gotta love this and:
You gotta be GOOD
No, really. The game's been out for fucking four years. If you can't figure out how to play your class by now... this is not the place to learn. I need people that can talk theorycraft about theirs and others' classes. I need people that can troubleshoot a mod on the fly. I need people that CAN MACRO A FUCKING HEALTHSTONE (/rant). The people in this raid will do everything they can to gain an advantage in endgame.
You gotta be SMART
Good and smart are two different things. Basically, read the goddamn strat before you walk in and understand your job ahead of time.
Adults Only
No, I'm not going to be a dick about age limits. However, I'm sick of raiding with children with ADD. Though I consider both raids to be pretty good about this, I still have whiners and annoying fucking kids that take up my time and screech into their mics about bullshit that should be typed and not screamed across vent. No more, this is the raid where I get to be rid of you. So, consider this: Do you annoy me right now? Do you think I'm going to give you a raid spot in Wrath with your current behavior?
Should you be raiding? Really?
Are you in a position of massive change and turmoil in your life? Do you have to AFK during every trash pull for some family emergency or another? Are you close to getting fired from work because of your raiding? SHOULD YOU REALLY BE DOING THIS? This raid is for people that have specifically set aside the time and resources to commit. Yes, I said commit. We like to pretend that commitment is a dirty word in WoW, but the lack thereof has fucked us repeatedly in the last year.

How to retire
Wrath is an excellent opportunity to retire from raiding. I recommend that all people who would like a clean break from raiding take this opportunity to step down. You get to go out as a hero, a legend to us all and someone who completely fulfilled their obligations to their guild and raid. You will not be letting anyone down, this is the perfect time to do so.
Switching to a new main and raiding
It's also great time to switch to an alt (new main) full time. However, there are consequences. Let me explain: If I've been raiding with a player on their main for the better part of three years, I know what I can expect from them. I know they'll perform. However, if they make the decision to switch toons, they'll most likely lose their raid spot to a main that stayed. Thems the breaks, kids. You are more than welcome to switch toons in Wrath, but your raid spot might not follow you.
That said, if you can meet these very strict guidelines, I want you to sign up for this event. Expect to show up on the toon you list. This raid will be very progression focused. We'll move fast and hard. We are friends and we'll have fun, but we'll be taking a lot of the fucking around out of our raid.
I wish you all luck on getting in to this run. I expect the absolute best out of you and I promise to show you the best raiding that Wrath has to offer. I consider all of you friends, but there are only 25 spots available. We'll be doing this again for the second raid when it gets ready to fire up. Good luck.
Update: As we get closer and closer to this date, I'll be pulling people aside in vent to talk to them personally about where they are at. Expect the conversation to be blunt as I tell you about all the things that annoyed me about you over the last year of your time in Downfall and in raid. We'll go over the good points too, but those tend not to offend people. Be prepared.

Awww, no shadow priest...
Disrupter — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 11:56Awww, no shadow priest... I have to spec imp FF >:|.
Still too bloated at 80?
saedo — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 11:57Still too bloated at 80?
Well there are 14 very
Disrupter — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:08Well there are 14 very important talent points in the resto tree, that I currently do not have because I ca'nt get the good stuff at the end of the tier without sacrificing far too much dps.
So I'm in a pinch here, too few talent points to spread around... I gave up the 3% haste talent and owlkin frenzy for 6 more talents and reduced personal dps and still lack enough to get everything lol.
3% haste the rets will have,
Dragon — Thu, 11/13/2008 - 08:283% haste the rets will have, the question is whether or not the raid will be in range of the Auras
Convince people to not need
saedo — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:14Convince people to not need your buff through gear!
That's retarded... I'll be
Disrupter — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:17That's retarded... I'll be bringing the buff nonetheless just means I'll do less dps ;p.
Who's the fury warrior? Is
saedo — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 11:23Who's the fury warrior?
Is fire mage still top at 80? Or arcane can keep up? Or still problems with that?
Is the lone lock staying destruction? Or maybe Affliction at 80?
1-2 Combat Rogues might go mutilate. Am I an ass for thinking I just wanna spec around the weapons I can obtain since they're all pretty usable and on par in dps?
Probably still missing a "better" spell power buff. Just flametongue totem atm.
As of right now, arcane
Dufe — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 12:17As of right now, arcane should be a little behind fire on stand and shoot fights, a little ahead on 'run like crazy' fights, but there are still some rumored changes coming for arcane, so we'll have to wait and see. Frost is actually the highest dps for fights under like 2.5 minutes, but I don't expect many of those.
Ky said he could commit 100%
garreth — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 11:28Ky said he could commit 100% to four nights a week, baby and all starting in December.
Mages get to go whatever spec they want, we neither gain nor lose raid synnergy if mages switch around specs, ceteris paribus.
Rogues get the same thing: Whatever spec does the most damage is all we need.
Then he could be arms
saedo — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 11:41Then he could be arms too?
Just a bit slight of synergy requirement there. Just need to keep 1 Arms warrior or 1 Combat Rogue min.
Enhancement shammies
garreth — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 10:40Looks like we'll need Onrique or Zildo to go Enhancement full time since we won't have Turth :( Let me know what you guys want to do.
Also, do we have Rupta 100% confirmed for this raid? How about Keisj? Keisj, will you being going DK, Spriest or warrior dps?
W/e is necessary.
Desteran — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 14:31I just want to raid really. If that means switching to hance (the spec I play when not raiding), I am totally down. I also have a ret pally gearing up in these last few weeks which I could switch to holy at 80 or prot. I do plan on leveling as hance so the gearing up will be less cumbersome if that is what is needed. Ball is back in your court G...Im flexable.
I'm shooting for a schedule
garreth — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 09:07I'm shooting for a schedule that is pretty much what we have now in Hamfist.
The goal, like many high end guilds do, is to raid on this schedule with the same peeps every day so that we can eventually chump the content and end the week early.
Basically, we can "stay ahead" of the content enough to eventually raid less, but it requires consistency and performance.
Hmm...
garreth — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 17:07I spent some time analyzing the signups so far.
Theorycraft says the Water
Dufe — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 18:37Theorycraft says the Water Elemental mana bonus doesn't (currently) make up for the lower dps of Frost.
2. The uniqueness of Shadow
saedo — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 17:302. The uniqueness of Shadow priests are gone with Boomkins, Survival Hunters, and Ret Pallies.
4. It's only 1.8% more mana every 2.4-3 mins. Nothing huge I think.
7. Think Shihli prefered Unholy.
I am all sorts of ready to
Deje — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 09:29I am all sorts of ready to raid hardcore this expansion. I've already bought a new video card, and my second semester schedule is convenient enough to grant me the time and days necessary to raid.
I'm remaining a Resto Shaman for Wrath as well. I love me some healy lasers.
I'm almost ready too,...
lesda — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 10:26I'm almost ready too,... just need a few more pieces of gear -- and that should tide me over 'til 80.
raiding wotlk
Moonaura — Tue, 11/04/2008 - 02:36"This is all good news. But what nights will you be online without fail?" Garreth
I'm on every night and alot of the day. I think there is some confusion as to who I am, I currently play my rogue Xandague, the druid I leveled and apped to the guild on (Moonaura) is now played by my friend on a sepperate account.
I can be a backup healer with
Adwarflol — Wed, 11/05/2008 - 14:09I can be a backup healer with my priest until "Salmon" starts up, I'd probably be in tailored gear <__<
At this point, I am confident
Dufe — Mon, 11/03/2008 - 22:44At this point, I am confident I can raid 4 nights a week. Among other things, the slightly later start time will work much better with my work schedule. My only question would be the exact schedule. Will this stay on exactly Hamfist's current weekly schedule? (Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri) Will it be something new? Has anyone even thought about it?
I will include a caveat to my being a part of this first raid: If this is really starting on the 22nd (The week of Christmas), and missing that first week means I will need to be in Raid: Salmon, then I will just be in Raid:Salmon. I will not be raiding that week. Beside Christmas, I have 2 parent's birthdays, a nephew's birthday, etc.
Has there been announced raid
Agoney — Thu, 11/06/2008 - 18:23Has there been announced raid dates/times?
I'm currently considering the
garreth — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 00:31I'm currently considering the week of December 14th as a start date: it's within four weeks and it gives us a week before the holidays. A little less than the 5 weeks we had initially stated, but I don't doubt our ability to be 80 by then.
What about like, schedule.
Agoney — Fri, 11/07/2008 - 08:04What about like, schedule. Raid days/hours
I honestly think we'll be
garreth — Mon, 11/03/2008 - 22:48I honestly think we'll be starting about a week earlier than the listed start date and then taking off the Christmas week. That should work much better with more people.
