Kitten Brigade Sign Ups
Yep. This is our first 25-man raid, post Wrath release; five weeks after release, to be exact.
So you want to be a part of it, do you? No, really, are you sure? I'll wait for you to think about it because I'm not fucking around in Wrath. Get ready to dance.
First let me rant: Hamfist has replaced roughly 75% of it's raiders over the lifetime of it's BC raiding career, most of those people multiple times, and I know that LF1M is in a similar boat (WTB shadow priests). It slowed us down, caused us frustration and generally resulted in a whole lot of un-fun fucking around. The gear drain we faced from people coming in for a few weeks/months, soaking up some gear and then leaving absolutely gimped us.
I have vowed to avoid that in our Wrath raid. What does this mean to you? It means both the Hamfist and the LF1M raids are being dissolved and new raids will rise from their ashes. It also means you might get to see some massively progressive content if you can meet the new, very strict standards.
This event sign up is just for the FIRST raid that we'll form in Wrath. This raid runs four nights a week, about 4 hours a night. The SECOND raid will start five weeks after this one (late January) and will raid on a lighter schedule, 3 nights a week. But don't let the lighter schedule fool you. You'll be held to the same standards as the first raid.
So, you want to be a part of our Naxx-stomping first raid? Then you gotta commit. Hard. Here's what we're looking for.
Attendance, attendance, attendance
Gone are the days of our "Tuesday-only" raiders, or whatever. I'm sorry, but my days as Schedule Master to pander to 10 different raiders that can all only raid one or two days a week are gone. I won't do it. Instead, this raid will be full of people who WILL make all days. If you have a rough schedule, please consider the other raid or a lighter 10-man course in the expansion. Our raiders will ABSOLUTELY be held to their attendance. So it's clear: you commit 100% to four nights a week or don't sign up.
You WANT to be there
Are you the guy that always wants to end early or pass on the one last shot? Do you hate logging in on raid nights? Do you immediately switch to an alt after you're done raiding on your main because you "hate your main"? K. I don't want you in this raid. I want 25 people that fucking LOVE raiding. I want 25 people that are SEXUAL about their raiding. You gotta love this and:
You gotta be GOOD
No, really. The game's been out for fucking four years. If you can't figure out how to play your class by now... this is not the place to learn. I need people that can talk theorycraft about theirs and others' classes. I need people that can troubleshoot a mod on the fly. I need people that CAN MACRO A FUCKING HEALTHSTONE (/rant). The people in this raid will do everything they can to gain an advantage in endgame.
You gotta be SMART
Good and smart are two different things. Basically, read the goddamn strat before you walk in and understand your job ahead of time.
Adults Only
No, I'm not going to be a dick about age limits. However, I'm sick of raiding with children with ADD. Though I consider both raids to be pretty good about this, I still have whiners and annoying fucking kids that take up my time and screech into their mics about bullshit that should be typed and not screamed across vent. No more, this is the raid where I get to be rid of you. So, consider this: Do you annoy me right now? Do you think I'm going to give you a raid spot in Wrath with your current behavior?
Should you be raiding? Really?
Are you in a position of massive change and turmoil in your life? Do you have to AFK during every trash pull for some family emergency or another? Are you close to getting fired from work because of your raiding? SHOULD YOU REALLY BE DOING THIS? This raid is for people that have specifically set aside the time and resources to commit. Yes, I said commit. We like to pretend that commitment is a dirty word in WoW, but the lack thereof has fucked us repeatedly in the last year.

How to retire
Wrath is an excellent opportunity to retire from raiding. I recommend that all people who would like a clean break from raiding take this opportunity to step down. You get to go out as a hero, a legend to us all and someone who completely fulfilled their obligations to their guild and raid. You will not be letting anyone down, this is the perfect time to do so.
Switching to a new main and raiding
It's also great time to switch to an alt (new main) full time. However, there are consequences. Let me explain: If I've been raiding with a player on their main for the better part of three years, I know what I can expect from them. I know they'll perform. However, if they make the decision to switch toons, they'll most likely lose their raid spot to a main that stayed. Thems the breaks, kids. You are more than welcome to switch toons in Wrath, but your raid spot might not follow you.
That said, if you can meet these very strict guidelines, I want you to sign up for this event. Expect to show up on the toon you list. This raid will be very progression focused. We'll move fast and hard. We are friends and we'll have fun, but we'll be taking a lot of the fucking around out of our raid.
I wish you all luck on getting in to this run. I expect the absolute best out of you and I promise to show you the best raiding that Wrath has to offer. I consider all of you friends, but there are only 25 spots available. We'll be doing this again for the second raid when it gets ready to fire up. Good luck.
Update: As we get closer and closer to this date, I'll be pulling people aside in vent to talk to them personally about where they are at. Expect the conversation to be blunt as I tell you about all the things that annoyed me about you over the last year of your time in Downfall and in raid. We'll go over the good points too, but those tend not to offend people. Be prepared.

Sadly, I'm done. To this
Enixa — Wed, 09/17/2008 - 12:28Sadly, I'm done. To this date (Aside from Jorence but I got a bit more lee way) I'm the only non emo shaman. The reputation will stay as I will finish raiding when wrath hits. Reason I'm done. G put that if your life is going to change, don't raid. If your not going to make 4 nights a week don't raid. Respecting that, I'll be an oregonian in January (Not legit but at least living there) following my dream of cooking and probably working full part time (What ever time not spent at school, is work). I'll definetely be around though. Ya'll enjoy wrath and it's changes in 25 mans!
I've been holding off on
Dufe — Wed, 09/17/2008 - 10:18I've been holding off on announcing any raiding plans for Wrath since I have a new job starting in 3 weeks and need to move before then. I really won't know for sure how things will work out until this deluge of adjustments concludes. I will make a decision after I get situated. (~4 weeks from now)
I haven't really thought
Closer — Wed, 09/17/2008 - 12:02I haven't really thought about raiding come expansion since it's 2 or 3 months away, you never really know with Blizz.
I'm thinking seriously about switching my main. I really enjoy playing my shammy when I'm not raiding. I want to try something besides healing to be honest.
As of now I'm not sure what
Vulk — Tue, 09/16/2008 - 19:54As of now I'm not sure what opportunities I will be able to sieze come wrath. I want to raid 4 nights a week because I love it so much, unfortunately depending on how heavily school breathes down my neck I may not be able to raid at all. Hopefully I will be able to raid.

I'm still trying to figure
Sorahn — Tue, 09/16/2008 - 16:02I'm still trying to figure out where I am with this. This is hard as I've been doing this since ZG and love it but I need some time to figure out if I can commit to a raid schedule again. I'll need to see how work/life/wow balance changes over the next couple months.
Holla Sorahn. This is
garreth — Tue, 09/16/2008 - 16:11Holla Sorahn. This is exactly why we're putting this all out very early.
My hope is that, given that we're Downfall, there will be more than enough stuff going on outside of the "first" 25 man raid to show everyone a great time. We've got two months to figure out where each one of us is at.

Fjork — Tue, 09/16/2008 - 06:27I'll help out with the mAltish raids on Fridays/Saturdays/Sundays. Hopefully if I powerlevel fast enough I can have Pedran and Fjork 80, being able to choose between dps, tanking, and healing freely for whatever the weekend-warriors need.

Aidin — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 23:16Y'all know me...I love my raids.
I enjoyed my time in Hamfist and Raid:Awesome. I had the honor of learning from some of the best players in this game. I walked into MC in my UBRS blues...drooling over Garreth and co. in their Judgment purdies. A huge chunk of this guild taught me the difference between guild and raid, how to REALLY raid, and how to be a better paladin.
...but alas 4 nights a week 4 hours a night is just too much for me. I need time for the kids, and my fun runs with folks that don't all get to play as much as say, I do.
I really like 3 nights a week, 3 hours a night. It suits me well, and you know I'll be bit by a mAlt bug a yr. or so down the line...lol
So have no fear, if Atar decides he's not raiding (i'd like to see this...), and there isn't a more suitable person...I will take the reigns.
There will be a second raid who will probably go thru a very LF1M-esqe start.
Who's 80?
Who can put forth the type of commitment that Garreth spoke of in the greatest post ever?
It will happen, and we will see cool shit...it'll just take us a little longer. ;)
When will a decision be made
Grasen — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 23:04When will a decision be made as to the actual raid nights on the 4 nights a week?
The only night I don't
jaibyrd — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 22:14The only night I don't currently raid is Saturday night. I will probably continue with that schedule if there is a spot for me in either raid I'll take it ;-)
Yes, I like to heal. No, I've never been shadow.
/Signed. I'm signed up.
Kybosh — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 21:19/Signed.
I'm signed up. I enjoy raiding enough to make it a priority. Of course, baby>raiding, but I want to make it work.
My stance is this: I go into this committed to being a part of this raid. If things change, and I have to bow out, then I have to bow out.
Are you taking a chance on Karli and I by committing to us? Absolutely. But I think we've earned that chance. If you don't agree with me on this, then I think we should have a private discussion about it.

Roguered — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 19:54While I'd like to be a member of this raid, I can't currently say I can do it. The next couple of semesters of school are going to be tough and my fiance already got frustrated with me raiding 3 nights a week(during summer).
I do agree with Derch though. I want a longer raid night to burn through more content. At one point last semester I was raiding almost 5-6 nights a week between LF1M and filling in for hamfist. I will have to see where I am closer to the date.
The other thing im noticing is, all our rogues want to be in the longer raid. With that, some of us are gonna have to bite the bullet and drop down to the 3 night raid which is what I will most likely do.
There isn't too much for me
Karli — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 19:16There isn't too much for me that I can comment on today, but I promise you all we will keep you informed as time passes and the time to get this raid off the ground gets going.
I ask that for those of you who have not already read it please go read our earlier post found here: /node/4363
I would like to say that I love raiding, I think I am good at what I do, and I have been a dedicated raider since before BC and there aren't too many of us left.
What the future holds for us is uncertain. I am going to be optimistic and hope that Ky and I may luck out with an easy going kiddo and have a little while longer in us before we have to hang up our raiding boots, but of course there is no way to predict this.
Lastly, and again, all that I ask is that the lines of communication are kept open. Kybosh and I will be willing and committed to raid as long as 1) we are welcome to by Downfall and 2) life permits.
This seems like as good of a
Pettingzoo — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 19:11This seems like as good of a place as any to throw this out there - I will not be a regular raider in wrath. With school, a new set of awesome friends, and a job on the horizon, it's just not gonna happen. I'm not even buying wrath until school lets out for the break. However, I will always be down to fill in on a short night.
Been a rogue since beta,
Ewiges — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 19:00Been a rogue since beta, always will be. As far as raiding I would love to. I've been raiding full time since Molten Core went live. But the future is unpredictable. I need to start looking for a fulltime job and I may be moving to a new house between now and then. The good thing is, I'll be on winterbreak from school at that time so I will have some free time. Also, since I am a hardcore player I know I will be geared by then.
We are running Raid:Salmon,
Gares of War — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 18:53We are running Raid:Salmon, I just think it is early to post.
Atar not running a raid
Adwarflol — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 18:48Atar not running a raid D:
if Atar decides not to run one I'd for sure try to be an Alt raider for the hardcore one.

Blizzhax — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 17:33I just wish I was on the West coast so I could aboslutely commit, but alas.. I cannot, and I would love to.
I and the hax team will always be around (maybe afk for a while now and then) but we will be around if needed in situations and such.
We will also probably be hitting the 5/10 man's hard, and be HUGE on the PVP scene.
:)
I'm not sure what road I'll
Atar — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 16:54I'm not sure what road I'll take in Wrath yet. I may be toon switching. I might quit playing WoW regularly. I'm not sure what I want to do yet. We'll see as the weeks before Wrath comes out.
Derch, Ruesch, and Zildo :( All three are awesome guys and would be a perfect fit for the hardcore raid.
G I am really excited about
bluetouguyss — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 16:50G
I am really excited about the chance to perhaps get into some raids! With wrath coming out I wont be as far behind the 8 ball as I feel right now gear wise. I am not sure if I can raid 4 times a week but 3 is very doable. Maybe once I get into some 25 mans I will decide 4 days a week is ok too! Really love the post and the honesty.
Blue, the great thing about
garreth — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 17:20Blue, the great thing about these transition periods is that a lot of great folks who may not have been hardcore prior to Wrath get a chance to step up and prove themselves (see: most of both our raids, LOL).
Most of our raiders are at a great advantage right now for early Wrath raiding, but other than that, it's pretty much an even playing field.

I like to play, i like to heal, but now i ll play less than before (all days haha). And now with my sick dad, the money its going real fast and i cant save nothing. W/e ll see what can i do to about it.
PS: right now my account is closed cuz i need to pay LOLLLL, and is independence's day TODAY September 15!!!!!!! and i NEED MORE MONEY !!! $"%%" !! hahaha
Chain Heal FTW
I'd really like to start
Derchlon — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 15:46I'd really like to start raiding more frequently, and for longer. I've raided with LF1M since December of last year if my memory serves, and have only missed 2 days or so total. What this means, is that I've been committed to the raid, and love doing it. However, I'm "that guy" who wants to take another shot even after Atar calls it for the night, and I constantly find myself wishing I raided more than two and a half effective hours per night.
From what you wrote on the event, and from what I've evidenced in my writing above, it seems like this type of raid setting would be a perfect match for me. It would also seem that the 1st 25 man raid would find me to be a good fit as well.
Horray!! I'll be ready.

Ardea — Mon, 09/15/2008 - 15:21Just posting to say this is cool! I know with stability our guild with go farther and faster.
I plan on being 80 (a few times) by then... but I will be going for raid 2. I love raiding but I can see me (and wife) burning out with anymore than 3 nights.
