What is this world coming too? (Part 1)
Popplegem — Wed, 10/29/2008 - 16:43
So I'm watching TV after a long day at work, leaning back on my brand new couch and relaxing.
And then, the music starts. It's sad, with an oboe in there somewhere, I'm sure. You start seeing pictures of small animals, kittens, puppies, all with those large eyes that only small, baby animals seem to be possible of giving.
Then the voice over (this one is that singer, Sarah something or other)... "Every day, 6 bazillion [exaggeration, of course] animals are brutalized and then thrown into humane societies, where they are then sold to Chinese restaurants [I have nothing against that, just FYI] and eaten by unsuspecting people like yourself.... " Ok.. so maybe it's not QUITE like that.. but you get the idea.
She goes on and on about how we need to save these brutalized animals, do something for them so that they have happy, safe lives.
My question is "Who the f**k cares about the animals?" I mean, really now, what about all the CHILDREN out there that need help? I don't ever see commercials showing the brutalized children. I know they are out there, and I know some companies like the Christian Children's Thingy or something does a lot of work.. but come on.
If we put the money that we put towards saving animals into saving children, the world would be a better place faster.
THEN we could save the puppies. (But not the kitties.. I don't like kitties.)
Besides, I love fur coats!!! THAT'S RIGHT, I TYPED IT!!!!!!

Quote from the book I'm
jaibyrd — Fri, 10/31/2008 - 20:21Quote from the book I'm reading atm: 'no good ever came from eating dead cow in the middle of the afternoon".
Personally I believe that there is room for caring about children, animals, plants, rocks, etc. Hearing it blasted from the media as a way of parting me from my cash? Not so much appreciated or cared about.
"quit eating meat." ...NO

What pisses me off is there
Ewiges — Thu, 10/30/2008 - 16:08What pisses me off is there is a similar commercial out right now and it does a series of "Whats better". First it shows a fat cow getting moved by a fork lift, then it shows on on a grassy farm by itself. Then it shows a bunch of chickens stuffed into cages, then a little girl holding a chicken on a farm. They say we need to stop animal brutality. Ok, WTF, that damn cow is about to get slaughtered and turned into cheap Mc Donalds hamburgers. If every meat grown cow had a 1/4 acre of green grass to live on, a big mac would cost $40. People need to stop caring a realize what the hell makes the world go round. Only way to ever stop animal brutality is to quit eating meat.
not even that would stop it
Dragon — Fri, 10/31/2008 - 06:00not even that would stop it wigs, we use a lot of animal byproducts other than just their meat in our daily lives.
Rich people (Angelina Jolie
Fjork — Thu, 10/30/2008 - 14:45Rich people (Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt aside) don't really care about CHILDREN. They care about cute widdle PUPPIES!
Because children complain, grow up, and potentially embarass said celeberity in public.
Animals just look great with the latest gouche-purse.
