"Garreff, the points on the site are broken"
garreth — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 02:04
So, not having a 9-5 has given me a bit of time to learn the sorts of things that I'm passionate about. One of those things is the content management system that runs this site, Drupal (http://drupal.org). Drupal makes it extremely easy to build web applications that just get right up and start doing "stuff".
A certain "stuff" that I've been promising for years now is the ability to view your raid points on the site. Well, here it is: /frpoints For you raid and guild officers, you can upload your FuriousRaid savedvariables file here: /frpoints/upload.
It's ugly as hell right now, but we'll be making it purty as I get better at this. As for multi-raid pages, we may just work out a sync'ing system in-game and keep it on one big page. I dunno, if I feel inspired, I'll make it more granular.
I'm still gkicking anyone that tells me the points on the site are broken.

This is fancy ;D

garreth — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 12:17I'll be making the table a lot more "in theme" with the rest of the site shortly. I wont' be hard to have it sort.
Cleanup will have to be done in-game. I say we nuke any point pools we haven't run with after 60 days. And, no, there's no record of when the last time someone earned points. And, no, I don't want to do it in code ;)
Columns don't "line up" due to how the information is stored per-user. We'll need to clean it up in game to get everyone lining up.
I guess my only
Shihli — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 11:50I guess my only recommendations would be:
1) Allow for sorting (if possible) by name, class, and points by pool.
2) (Akin to Dufe's suggestion) Determine some way to trim down on the number of displayed names, so the list doesn't get outrageous.
3) (Akin to Saedo's suggestion) Determine a way to find out when people last spent points.
1) Sorting is a cosmetic
saedo — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 12:111) Sorting is a cosmetic change and could be done easily with JQuery already running on the site (like: /node/4333)
2) Can probably set up a filter based on date modified to just not display names. Or delete people when they're gone!
3) If FuriousPoints can't track it, the only thing I can think of is having the script do a check to see if the value changed from the current with the previous one and have keep a date modified variable for each of them. Though, I can see that breaking when someone ends the night with the same points they start with. That shouldn't happen too often...
P.S. Garreth, I can't mess with coding correct? I can only see options to enable or disable stuff. lol
I used to keep up with when
Atar — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 12:08I used to keep up with when people spent points and what item they got and everything manually, but it got WAY long. I went through a three subject notebook in no time. lol
I personally don't feel it's that important to know your points and everyone elses. Back in LF1M I made it clear that everyone NEEDS to spend their points on upgrades. If every raider is doing that then there shouldn't be any problems and hording of points won't become an issue.
Also, if someone wanted to know how they were setting I'd just tell them. Took 5 seconds to look them up on FR.
If the saved variables from
Dufe — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 10:18If the saved variables from LF1M and Hamfist are any indication, the list of player names is likely to get unreadably long. (LF1M's had like 400 players at the end of BC.) I would suggest some process or policy for removing the entries of players that haven't been in raid for X number of months - just to keep the list more manageable.
Does FuriousRaid keep track
saedo — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 10:46Does FuriousRaid keep track of when the player has last used/earned points?
Not to my knowledge.
Atar — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 10:51Not to my knowledge.
Dufe dangit log in and say hi

Probably on your to-do list,
starstalker — Tue, 12/16/2008 - 04:03Probably on your to-do list, but thought I'd point it out anyways
The colums dont line up. Like, for some people, it goes AP-NAP-NRP, while others goes NAP-NRP-AP.
