Raid : Kitten Brigade Three Drake Challange!
Holidays are over!
We've all got fat tummys and lots of rest - now it's time to get it done!
Our gear is looking great and there is no reason we can't get this done! We know all the fights in all the new content. If we calm down, focus and stop zerging - we can get these last tough achievements.
We need Pudo to confirm for this. It will work much better if we have a Prot Pallie. If Pudo doesnt confirm HBK has agreed to respec for this fight. A prot pallie rounding up all these adds and keeping them in place will make things easier.
After all that, it's just a matter of
1. Not standing in the fire
2. Not standing in the void zones
3. Going into portals when we need to
4. Dps'ing the correct target
5. Collect PHAT LEWTZ !!
Seriously, we've had it easy in WoTLK. It's been so unlike BC where we wiped over and over on bosses before we finally beat them. That level of difficulty is what made things feel 'EPIC' when we finally downed bosses in BC. This is gonna be an EPIC kill when we get it.
Lets come with tons of pots, flasks, bandages, repair bots (money to pay for repairs)
But above all, lets all come with a comittment to work on this hard. To concentrate, and not moan and groan when we wipe. To smile and grit our teeth each time and remember.....

If there's any odd gaps in his gear that'd make him a bit squishy I can do my best to help tank.
Seems we want one tank on Sarth, two tanks on the drakes (one drake each, we should kill Tenebron before Vesperon activates as we have nearly two minutes for it), and one solid tank on adds (flames, whelps, et al). We can have a dps DK in tank gear (or dps gear and frost presence) tanking the adds in the portals when the time comes for them.

moriella — Mon, 01/05/2009 - 10:25Shihli, from what I understand from all the reading and studying that i've done on this fight is that you are our A #1 best sarth tank that we can have during the middle 1/3 of this fight when sarth's breath can theoritically hit for 50-70k if we get unlucky.
From what I understand, UNHOLY gets the most ways to resist magic damage with frost being a close second. I wouldnt even pretend to make a recommendation on which way to go cause you are the expert on that. If we really want to min/max it tho - the spell damage reduction mega gem would provide even more mitigation.
The way I see it working tonight is :
Shihli on sarth tanking thru the breaths
Orky on the first drake (should be down when second drake lands) but if not Nuit picks up second drake, then Orky solo tanks third drake.
When third drake is dead, Nuit taunts sarth off shihli due to her damage becoming physical and intense at this time.
HBK will be our prot pallie, standing on the portals with consecration allready down, grabbing the spawns when they come out. Also grabbing flames off the casters. When HBK gets dicey because of too many on him he pulls them all into the area of the current drake thats down so they can be aoe'd and the damage will also apply on the drakes. I understand shadow priests really shine here due to the ability to not have to change targets off the drake but just switch to sear and destroy the adds. If Orky can tank two drakes at once during the short time the we have drake 2 and 3 together, nuit could assist HBK Reports vary on whether one is enough on drakes and elementals.
Quisaa would probably be the best dps/tank when a portal dive is needed. No need to really have a tanky spec for this tho. Plate should be fine.
I personally have experienced some times where the main tank healer and the main tank are out of range of each other for a period of a couple seconds due to some of the movement required. If we had bad luck and shihli eats a huge flame breath followed by a crit, in that one or two seconds -it could be a wipe. Some guilds are putting the MT heals stationed on Sarth's rear leg. There is supposed to be a small box there out of range of tail swipes and cleaves. Doing this would require the tank healer to relearn some positioning but is something to think about.
Heroism : I think for now, we blow it on the first drake because that drake absolutly must go down fast before the second lands. Once our dps 'tightens up' and we have some breathing room (i.e learn the fight) - then we pop heroism during second drake to help the healers, as thats when the healing gets crazy. However, until we get better at it, I think the heroism should be spent early rather than later, as heroism on 25 ppl > heroism on 22 ppl
Note on engraged elementals - these can take out HBK pretty fast if he gets three on him, we know they can be tranq shotted by hunters but this involves perhaps several hunters changing target and loss of dps on w/e they were on at the time. Another option is a rogue with anesthetic posion II and fan of knives. One rogue can wipe the enrage on multiple targets very quickly. Would this be a more viable way to keep dps higher on the main target , rather than losing multiple hunter dps ?
These are my thoughts on this fight. I'm still sketchy about which portal should be taken and some of the dps dancing that has to be done. I studied this from a healing perspective and how to best keep use our tanks and keep them alive.
Feel free to tear this suggestion apart, we've never done it so I cant claim anymore knowledge than other ppl in guild.
Lets all get mentally ready for this tonight! It's the hardest content in the game currently - but it's nothing we cant do if we focus

If hunters can quickly coordinate to tranq each then they would be the better option. But most likely things are too hectic for that. A rogue would be best to at least start it off, Fan of Knives -> Anethetic Poison. It is a chance on proc still 50% chance, and Fan of Knives is a 10 sec CD, 50 energy cost (half our bar), so quite possible it might not even get em all. Likely best scenario is to have 1 rogue Fan of Knives them in a group, bring em close to the Drake would be best. Then have Hunters tranq whatever's missed.
As an FYI, it is prob around a 200 dps drop to use that poison. But it'll be for the utility.

Haveing a prot paladin on this is optimal. We are fortunate that HBK has the gear for this. I'm donating the gems for his prot gear. Can someone else help him with getting the chants he needs.
Doing this alone would be pretty expensive for him, so lets pool some mats and see if we cant ease the burden for him
