WoW Lore Speculation

saedo's picture

saedo — Wed, 02/04/2009 - 15:25

All right I got to thinking about future patches and if Blizz goes according to inital plans (that can change), they intend for 3.1 Ulduar, 3.2 Surprise Instance, 3.3 Icecrown Citadel.      There is some fan speculation that they should throw another patch in there, 3.4 for Icecrown and have 3.3 as another surprise instance.    Well I'll get into more detail as I list things.    The point of this is for me to list down baddies and talk about them.

*** POSSIBLE SPOILERS ***

(so don't read this thread at all if you don't want those)

Yogg-Saron

3.1 - There are definitely signs that point to him being in Ulduar.   Corruption of key figures in Storm Peaks...   Sulphuric attackers (fire elementals likely so Old God controlled)...   Loken defeated in Halls of Lightning and stating a master...

3.2 - But he makes more sense if he were in Azjol'Nerub, down where Arthas and Anub'Arak faced off against a Forgotten One.   Where the cultists of the Old Kingdom are.   This is one of the speculations of the surprise instance.

Ulduar could merely have a lackie Yogg-Saron set up to run the place.   Ragnaros the Firelord!   Well, not really.  lol

Expansion - There's some talk where he could be set up as the next big expansion villian.   That either means we only poke his eye out and he comes back in a more full form, or don't face him at all.    But expansion villians need territory we can invade (and level in), like how Illidan was set up to be the inital villian cause he had Outland (yes finished off with Kil'jaeden), and Arthas with Northrend.

I suppose he could be in the Emerald Dream, being close to Ysera he could be responsible for the Nightmare corruption.   It would be Azeroth but how it looked in it's original condition.   Though if we invade that and set up base camps and roads everywhere, dunno how that's gonna work.

Other thing I can think of is Maelstrom.  But it's probably a different Old God at work down there, doubt Yogg-Saron goes there.   Depending on source there's 3-5 Old Gods kicking around.   There's speculation there's one underneath Tirisfal (west part of it), and possibly one under Black Fathomdeep.

Deathwing

3.1 - This one would be out of left field but hear me out.   The attack of black dragons are pretty "sulphuric" themselves.   He was corrupted by the Old Gods, so could be working directly under Yogg-Saron now.   Then he'd be the corrupting force, either directly or via Yogg-Saron.

3.2 - But a lot of people are more inclined for Grim Batol as the instance with him experimenting with Twilight drakes.   Though I offer another location, Deathwing's Lair on Outland.   It'd have to be a new floating rock east of Hellfire, and gives us a reason to visit Outland again (like with KZ on Azeroth).

Expansion - Deathwing just doesn't seem to have a large domain we can invade.   Though they could always make one up by having him I dunno, conquer the South Seas or something.   Or expand upon his Outland base to be much larger than it probably is, like a 2nd half of Outland.    Or, being the Earth Warder he's supposed to be, can raise a new continent on his own, perhaps the chunk of Kalimdor he sunk into the ocean back when the Well of Eternity exploded.

Nozdormu

He's pretty much been heavily hinted at being the one behind the Infinite Dragonflight.   Back when he was created or something, the Titans did show him exactly when and how he'd die so he'd not get all abusive with his powers.   So his actions now could be interpreted as fighting that fate, ensuring that fate (saw he'd die by the hands of 10/25 would be heroes), or maybe just simple Old God corruption.

3.1 - Nothing really points at this.  Unless it's just a one boss encounter underneath Wyrmrest Temple or CoT.

3.2 - Probably CoT, or something in Crystalsong if he pops up.   I can only really see Wyrmrest as one boss encounters.

Expansion - Again this guy doesn't really have a large domain we can invade.   Though, an idea for this would be to make it entirely in Caverns of Time.    Either make it enitrely in the past, like seeing Azeroth before the Sundering.    Or have some weird amalgamation of zones in which each corresponds to a different time period.  The goal would be to fix all that to save the timeline.

Frost King Malakk

3.2 - Well only possibly this patch.  He'd be the leader of the frost trolls of Zul'drak.  Gundrak (deeper parts), is another speculated candidate for the surprise instance.  Not much more is really known about him beyond this.

Anyways, that's all for now, go go Lore Nerds!

I remember hearing when patch

Lunchbox — Tue, 02/10/2009 - 10:29

I remember hearing when patch 3.0 came out that on one of the tables of the King of stornwind, when he was fighting the scourge, was a map similar to the one linked in your post.  However where the island was, was a big question mark.  Whatever is in the next EXP. will most likely be in the middle of azeroth.

1. i thought Deathwing was

Felsteel — Fri, 02/06/2009 - 09:42

1. i thought Deathwing was killed by the rest of the aspects. so he would have to come back as an undead dragon aspect.(HAWT)

2.we still have that undead dragon from the sign in screen and wotk trailers yet to be added as content.(hint hint suprise instance)

3 the malestorm would be an awesome cot run and would fit well in the infinite dragon flights plans, start at the root of all the problems where it  all began. would be weird though fighting against tyrande and malfurion.

4 if they did set the expansion in the maelstorm, didnt we see enough nagas in BC, but seeing the original queen of the elves as a boss fight would be epic win.

1.  Yea as Dragon pointed

saedo — Fri, 02/06/2009 - 11:30

1.  Yea as Dragon pointed out.   He's the original Kael'thas, you thought you killed him but....

2.  That's Sindragosa.   She's likely to appear in Icecrown, probably the Sapphiron to Arthas boss.

3.  Well you wouldn't fight against Tyrande and Malfurion if we went back to the Well of Eternity.   Likely more be well, Archimonde I believe.   Think he was the guy that was there trying to summon Sargaras through the well.   Or Queen Azshara, or Mannoroth, or perhaps Illidan, or Deathwing.   Depending on which part of the war you'd be sent back to.

4.  Well more Nagas and Murlocs.   But they'd prob make it interesting.   We prob got sick of seeing Undead from the Plaguelands but Northrend didn't disappoint.

yeah got a tad bit confused

Felsteel — Fri, 02/06/2009 - 15:11

yeah got a tad bit confused on who we would fight. hell a reinactment would be awesome kinda like MH,( i dont remember seeing any infinate dragons there). how about a rescue instance, say the ID(infinate dragonflight) trying to assassinate  Queen Azshara and other ranking high elves(before the war) in attemps to stop the high elves from  being tricked by the BL altogether and thus would also pursuade tyrande and malfurion to aid the ID in the assassination. would fit wouldnt it?

Deathwing Lore

Dragon — Fri, 02/06/2009 - 10:33

BOOK SPOILERS BELOW!!

He's currently deep under the abandoned Wildhammer capital of Grim Batol, hiding from the world, experimenting with the twilight dragonflight.

Night of the Dragon

Main article: Night of the Dragon

Deathwing's location is totally unknown[2], though Korialstrasz was "almost positive" that he was truly destroyed this time.

Unfortunately, unknown to Korialstrasz or the world, Deathwing is still at large, hiding deep beneath Grim Batol. He has begun his own experiments to improve upon the horrific "twilight dragons" created by his mate Sintharia, continuing his mad schemes to usher in a new day for his own breed of dragon...

In fact, Deathwing would make sense to a point since those twilight dragons are the ones that we kinda go and off below Wyrmrest Temple. So no Deathwing isn't dead :D

Once upon a time I was

Ardea — Wed, 02/04/2009 - 19:00

Once upon a time I was reading wowwiki and came across islads south of the Maelstrom where Sargaras is supposed to be buried... they have possibilities here.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Broken_Isles

The Broken Isles are a mysterious chain of islands, raised up from the seafloor by Gul'dan, which are located south of the raging Maelstrom. They are located in the South Seas and include about four large islands and about three small islands.LoM 67 Many ancient ruins can be found on these islands including the once-mighty night elf city of Suramar. Amazingly, the long-lost Tomb of Sargeras is also located on one of these islands. However, Illidan Stormrage recently stole the Eye of Sargeras from the tomb. The water between the islands is known as Stormreaver Bay as this was the location that Gul’dan and his clan anchored their ships when they were exploring the isles.LoM 67 Balor may be a part of the Broken Isles or located near the island chain.

It is stated that 2,000 inhabitants are known to live in the Broken Isles, almost all of them unsavory creatures of various types. They live without a government nor a capital and are under the rule of Tide Priest Harash. There are no major settlements; a few huts and encampments are all that can be found in the way of civilization. They are affiliated with the naga.LoM 67

Have you've been reading all

Ewiges — Wed, 02/04/2009 - 17:35

Have you've been reading all the "likely" fake stuff thats been popping up lately? I can't remember all the villian names, but I'll post the link in a second. It also suggests next expansion is Mealstorm.

Well its about time

Dragon — Wed, 02/04/2009 - 18:20

Q: What class has the best looking armor set coming up?
A: Armor's usually objective. I know a lot of them are out on the internet already because we just copied NPC armor. Of the few that we're working, I can promise one thing: Paladin isn't shit this time. I can also promise you that it's no longer gay. The main idea thrown around when the guys were designing paladin t8 was to have something the Scarlet Crusade would wear. One of the sets is red. Think like, badass Inquisitor. Fire is a theme in it - you might have noticed, but for all the t8 one of the themes we kind of worked with is that they're dealing with the undead plague - that's why the hunters have gas masks, the warlocks are plague doctors, etc. The deal with paladins is that they say "Fuck your plague, I'm purifying you in fire."

Wigs man, I love you, the link to that Wiki just made my day if it actually goes through.

Haven't seen the thing on

saedo — Wed, 02/04/2009 - 17:47

Haven't seen the thing on Wotkwiki.    But did see the fake patch notes.

It's a pretty good bet next expansion is Maelstorm, based on earlier Blizz planning and the course of things.
