The Immortal and stuff

Last night, we were perfect for all but one boss. Mistakes happen. I'm not posting to talk about that. What I would like to talk about is the future. I know that there was discussion of a punishment system for people who screw up the achievement such as no dkp/no loot/pay the g-bank.
My honest opinion is that implementing such a punishment system is outright stupid. We proved last night that we need no other external pressure other than the pressure that comes with the achievement for all of us to be on our A-game. In my eyes to punish someone for screwing up would only anger them and cause resentment towards the raid and others who received no such punishment for past failures.
On another note, I have to say that I love our healers. You guys are fuckin amazing. Last night you proved to me that you are some of the best healers on this server without question. I play a holy pally here and there and I will admit that my role dps'ing is not nearly as stressful nor does it come with as much pressure as yours does.
Also to our tanks, you guys generate threat like no other. I know that I push you guys pretty hard sometimes and every time you guys somehow manage to stay ahead of me. You guys are the reason we are able to pump out so much dps and without your efforts we wouldnt be close to our 25 man drakes.
I sincerely believe we will get the immortal next week, but if someone screws it up, there really is no way we can make that person feel any worse than he/she will already feel. Shihli said it best last night when I commented I would be bashing my brains in, he replied "No one will be bashing their brains in harder than me".
Peace and love,

Vulk — Wed, 02/25/2009 - 18:38That "stress" to me was fun, sometimes I miss being Vulk the Healadin. Ret is still fun as hell but the challenge of healing was just as fun! The thing DPSing has over healing is it's not nearly as boring as healing is on easier content. If I was a healer last night, I would have been having just as much fun as I was having as ret.
And IMO, the feeling you get when you are the one to scew up the achievement is plenty punishment. I know I would beat myself up to no end if i ruined it. We don't need to add a punishment in the form of gold/ time. The mental strain is enough.
Shit happens. Our raids rock
garreth — Wed, 02/25/2009 - 16:23Shit happens. Our raids rock and our people are solid. The Immortal isn't something that keeps me up at night and we'll of course get it soon. I'm not stressed at all. Good post, 'Donut.
It's not really that if you
saedo — Wed, 02/25/2009 - 13:45It's not really that if you die for whatever reason you'd get punished. It's more of a if you do something out right stupid that causes your own death (i.e. Shadow Word Deathing at low health while a disease damage dot is ticking on you). Mistakes can happen, d/c's can happen, lag can happen, shit can happen, stupidity can still be prevented.
That said, no one should be punished. Based on how we did last night, really no one *should* ever be punished. We can play carefully, we can survive it all. Just don't be stupid. Don't be stupid. And, don't be stupid.
I really hope that making a
Disrupter — Sat, 02/28/2009 - 19:45I really hope that making a mistake doesn't mean a person is stupid otherwise everyone in our raid is stupid and I'd much rather not have to admit to that ;p.
