Raid: Sippy Cup (alt + others 25 man)
cloud — Sat, 02/28/2009 - 22:40
I thought that since Fam Aggro did not get off the ground, it is about time we had another attempt at another 25 man.
This raid would be open to any and all alts, mains, or 80s who want to come.
The raid will obviously need a raid group consisting of:
3 Tanks
6 Healers
16 Dps containing at least:
2 Priests (If no Healing Priests)
2 Mages
1 Warlock (I <3 Health Stones and summons)
The raid will be on Sundays and Thursdays (Time will be determined when we have a raid)
If we have enough people who are committed to the idea/actual raid I will start, with the help of other people, as soon as possible.

I'd love to be in on this.
spek — Thu, 03/26/2009 - 09:36I used to look forward to Aiden's alt runs every week. I'd love to see this succeed. If the time fits I'll be there every week on my resto shami :)
I'd be down
Noidling — Wed, 03/25/2009 - 18:47My work schedule bounces all over the place, but I've been getting weekends off recently, so I could prolly roll on Sundays. Healanoid (priest), or Plaguenoid (dk)
Sign up for Torvo's weekend
bluetouguyss — Wed, 03/25/2009 - 16:56Sign up for Torvo's weekend runs we can use either your toons. I have ran with both before and I will always look for places to use them.
25's
Ananaras — Tue, 03/24/2009 - 11:02I've never been able to be a weekly raider due to my work schedule. I do log on consistantly every night at 9:30 server, soon as i get off work, but most of you are logged off or finishing up a raid by that time. However I can raid Saturdays and Sundays. I have a 80 Druid tank and a 80 mage ( if you didnt know) both geared for 25mans. I'd love to raid and get to know more of you in guild. I've been in Downfall for like a year now and run into some of the Downfall members in pugs and wouldnt have known they were guildys other than there tag over there head( which makes me sad). So anyways im in on whatever toon you need.
Ananaras/Jimandcoke
I may be wrong, but i think
Ensidious — Sat, 03/21/2009 - 23:00I may be wrong, but i think Deje was looking at starting up a 10 man raid next week, so if he gets that up and going we might be able to melt together a 25 man with the core raiders / spare raiders from the 2 10's.
yea we seem to have enough
bluetouguyss — Sun, 03/22/2009 - 19:09yea we seem to have enough people to get a core group together to start one. Aidins run today had a ton of people that have alts that I am sure dont run with salmon or kitty on all their toons and pugging a few slots sucks but I have been runnning with a weekend group called the pug club and they do it every week!
I still think I would rather get a 10 man started first for sat am and see how it goes and then work our way to a 25. Ulduar will be coming out soon and then it will be all out for ulduar! I cant wait to see how it goes!
Blue, or anyone else: I'm
pulga — Wed, 03/04/2009 - 18:32Blue, or anyone else: I'm interested in tanking 10 mans then 25 mans. I haven't been able to find a group that runs every week, so I've been left to pug. While I've had luck being in decent pug 10 mans, I'd really like to run with guildies.
I consider myself a
bluetouguyss — Wed, 03/04/2009 - 17:32I consider myself a "hardcore" player but the raid times are tough for me to become a hardcore raider. It it werent for torvo I would have never probably started running in raids to be honest. We were very successful and it doesnt have to be a slow pace for these weekend raiders but they do have to start to get gear to be successful in running 25 mans. I know that with my current gear I would be able to run in salmon or kitty and be a decent help.
Now I want to help others get to that point and have fun doing it. I am on daily but the blocks of time usually arent there for raiding during the week but the weekend it is game on! I know there are other parents like me in this guild or just people that work different schedules that are in the same boat. That is why fam aggro started. I think if we would have just started off as a 10 man instead of a 25 man like Jayel has done we would have been fine. We bit off more than we could chew and with another 25 man raid going on friday nights it was hard to get pugs from the guild.
Anyone else interested in 10 mans over the weekend maybe to lead into a 25 man at some point send me a tell in game or a message on the website and I would be glad to talk to you more about it.
I am no longer accepting new
garreth — Wed, 03/04/2009 - 14:30I am no longer accepting new "one or two night a week" players into guild. We have enough. People don't have to be "hardcore" but they have to be ON. These multiple night guildies should allow for more of these runs to form. As it stands right now, we have too many people in guild that just simply don't log in. When we have 70 people in guild who don't raid and a 10 man can't get off the ground... there's something wrong.
I tried this before wrath
Felsteel — Wed, 03/04/2009 - 13:45I tried this before wrath hit, Raid:Failstill, anyone remember? Anyways crashed and burned cause of people not being able to do the easiest yet hardest thing of all, SHOW UP ON TIME OR EVEN AT ALL, i also had some IRL issues to handle at the time.
We did get a few things accomplished that i was proud of, and it also opend the door for a few apps to get there foot in the door(paranoia/methknight/spagett just pick a name already) and also helped weed out a few of the apps that sucked. Now I have talked to a few people who have been wanting to raid more, they DO want to raid more, but most just cant make the KB/Salmon times, thus leading to what they call a weekend raid.
I agree with G it takes alot of people to pull off, people that stick to there word and know what they are doing. I suggest that all the people that are on fill in status that want to do more 25 man content come together, and raid on the weekends, use alts/apps/weekend warriors that have a rep for being online during the weekend to fill in the gaps. We have tons of all in guild. Yes, it is not something stable by any means of a raid standard, there would also have to be rules implictaed so that the fill-ins would do there jobs as fill-ins during KB/Salmon raidsand not hold out so they can raid on the weekend.
But look at the plus side, our fill-ins, depending on the succsess of the "weekend raid" would be better geared, have more experiance with the fights thus lowering the fail rate when KB/Salmon is forced to bring in non-regs, also would be a great proving ground for the apps. I say with proper work, dedication, support from guild, minimal negative attitudes, right timing with the right people this can be pulled off with benifits to all even the main raids.
Edit by Garreth: See that big button on your keyboard below "Backspace" and above "Shift"? USE IT!!! Paragraphs r gud.
It looks as though you are
bluetouguyss — Mon, 03/02/2009 - 20:08It looks as though you are going to run with the salmon raid anyway which is a good opportunity. Garreth is correct we would need a lot of people to commit in order to get this thing up and running. I just want to run over the weekend. I dont mind if it is 10 mans or 25 for now. Torvo and I had talked about starting up the sat am raid again so there is always that. Whatever happens I will always be committed to helping DF in whatever facet I can!
Well, i like the idea, and
Ensidious — Mon, 03/02/2009 - 16:57Well, i like the idea, and wouldnt mind having a 25 man raid i can tank for on a regular basis, so yeah sign me up!
The problem with the two main
bluetouguyss — Mon, 03/02/2009 - 16:44The problem with the two main raids is that they start too early for many people. i know personally I cant do much til after 7pm server. The other thing is that many in this guild arent as "hardcore" and dont have the time to gear at the same frantic pace as them. I would love to raid on weekends but weekdays it either has to be later or not all 3 days. Many people in this guild have lives that come first and foremost and playing is a nice break from the everyday grind. I for one want to keep it that way thus why I look for easygoing raid groups.
I will add a thought
Shihli — Wed, 03/04/2009 - 14:12I will add a thought to Garreth's point.
If you're scheduling a raid for the same time every week and expect the same personnel to staff it, you've entered the realm of "hardcore" raiders.
We're not moving at a frantic pace, we're moving at the pace the content is allowing us. And to presume that a casual raid has to move slower ... well ...
To nip a popular
garreth — Mon, 03/02/2009 - 17:13To nip a popular misconception in the bud: There is no such thing as a "casual" 10- or 25-man raid that can meet and form regularly. Just the simple act of setting a schedule takes a player out of the realm of "casual" and puts them into the category of "a little more than a stupid game."
Each type of raid requires an actual pool of players proportionaly larger than the size of the raid. The following chart sums it up well:
All a hardcore raid indicates is the level of commitment to actually showing up. Staying out of fire and pressing buttons successfully comes later.
So, to form a casual raid in Downfall, you'd need a pool of 50+ people who actually commit in order to have the raid actually start at its scheduled times. If you guys can get about 45 or more people to actually commit, you could make this happen. Otherwise, sticking to a "you gotta commit" format might increase the success of this happening.
I agree 100%
Jayel — Wed, 03/04/2009 - 15:10As the "leader" of a new 10 man I can say that it takes atleast 15 people to keep it going each week.
So glad you're keeping that
garreth — Wed, 03/04/2009 - 16:22So glad you're keeping that 10-man a regular thing. I see great things in your WoW feature if you can keep it going :)
respect
Jayel — Thu, 03/05/2009 - 12:20I have so much more respect for all you raid leaders now. I'm going to try to keep this going since this is the only chance a few core members get to raid.
I'm willing to help get another 10 man raid started up for the end of the week/weekend (though I cant lead another) if there are another 12 -15 people out there that want to run regularly.
I love WoW features.
Derchlon — Wed, 03/04/2009 - 16:50I love WoW features. Although I'm sure he meant Future.
The problem that Fam Aggro
Olorien — Mon, 03/02/2009 - 09:40The problem that Fam Aggro ran into is that everyone has a retadin/protadin/DK that they want to bring to raid and that is about it. No Range DPS, no Healers. And I think that is the problem that bot kitten and salmon are having not enough healers and range dps. I want to wish you luck but keep that in mind while planning.
Good Luck
Something else to consider if
Fjork — Mon, 03/02/2009 - 12:55Something else to consider if you are thinking about a third 25man cloud is the timeframes involved. Fam Aggro did actually "get off the ground", but only for a single 10man long enough to realize that we all needed a little more time to gear up since the majority of our 'regulars' only play a few hours a week, and thus were massively undergeared even for 10man naxx.
A Thursday / Sunday Raid would place your raid-times during Salmon/KB Raid times, which our our guilds two main raids so you have limited yourself by ~~50-80 potential mains / alts. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are going to be your only true "raid-slots" left available, but most of our weekend-warriors are still finishing out (or starting) their Heroic/10man gear.
If you would like to consider arranging another 25man raid for the guild (in place of Fam Aggro if necessary), I would recommend sending a PM to one of our guild officers first and getting some ideas of what the officers think of it. Fam Aggro was a few weeks in planning before we actually asked if anyone was interested because we didn't want to run into "You're breaking our guild!!!" and other such drama.
That said, I'm with Olorien. Good luck. Running a raid can be a very satisfying experience in scientific discovery.
Just how fast CAN your hair all fall out? :-)
I'm sorry if over stepped by
cloud — Mon, 03/02/2009 - 20:01I'm sorry if over stepped by bounds as a guildy. I just wanted to get an idea out in the open. This was just an overall thought. And in no way do I want destroy or ruine the guild's current raids.
I'd like to run with any of
pulga — Sun, 03/01/2009 - 16:30I'd like to run with any of the 25 man raids, but at the same time, not sure if I would be able to commit to a weekday raid. Plus, yall have solid, committed tanks. The prospect of raiding sundday/thursday appeals much more to me.
I hate to be the guy to burst
Atar — Sun, 03/01/2009 - 16:15I hate to be the guy to burst the bubble here, but do you realize that both Kitten Brigade and Salmon are always looking for folks to fill their raids? Every single night for the past two weeks I've been looking for folks to fill Salmon. You guys should try to be more involved with the two raids that are already formed. This guild can barely manage to run two seperate raids. If there are so many people interested in raiding then why is it so hard for us to fill raids? GET UP WITH US! You might not get an invite right way, but messaging us wouldn't help hurt your chances of finding some raid time or a permanent spot in one of the raids over time.
zariah is aidins main now
bluetouguyss — Sun, 03/01/2009 - 15:47zariah is aidins main now every once in a while I see her on her old main aidinselene which is a pally. I miss running with Malt that was always a good time! Torvo I know is also looking for later starting time raids and he is a resto shammy.
Someone you may want to talk
Vulk — Sun, 03/01/2009 - 09:29Someone you may want to talk to is Aidin (Who's shaman name evades me atm). In BC, Aidin and Grasen used to run MAlt (Main + Alt) 25 mans. I don't know if either of them has leveled another char to 80 or not but I'm sure she could give you some tips on how to run that sort of stuff. That being said. hopefully I can find the time to level my druid (Feral) those last couple levels, maybe i can get in on some of the action.
And you sohuld add a Ret pally to the DPS list, they bring a metrc ton of raid synergy (JoL heals, 3%haste, 2%damage, pally buffs just to name a few). Boomkins are amazing too.
I would like a 25man group to
Virgill — Sun, 03/01/2009 - 08:29I would like a 25man group to tank for. The only problem is I don't know if i will always be free on sundays. Work schedule always varies on the weekend
I'm available to tank. Still
pulga — Sat, 02/28/2009 - 23:17I'm available to tank. Still a tad on the squishy side though, so hopefully I can get a few more 10mans in before this raid gets fired up.
I am always interested in a
bluetouguyss — Sat, 02/28/2009 - 22:54I am always interested in a 25 man raid but it would depend totally on the times that they start. Starting any time before 7pm on the weekdays is a no go for me cause that is my family time with my kids and wife. Sundays as long as it is anytime in the evening would be fine. I go down to Vancouver once a month so if it is a day time on sunday again a no go. As of right now I am a boomkin and have good gear for running 25 mans. I would also work on tanking if need be but my gear is not nearly as Leet. Glad to see there is the thought of getting another 25 man I was bummed that fam aggro went in the tank I liked raiding with those guys. :(
If we could get this raid up
cloud — Sat, 02/28/2009 - 22:42If we could get this raid up before 3.1 that would make me a very happy person. :)
