WTB GRID..
Kerilyn — Mon, 03/16/2009 - 19:39in all honesty how DO you heal without Grid? i saw no mention of it in your app and do not see it in your UI screenshot. IMO go get grid right now.
I have tried both grid and
figment103 — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 11:26I have tried both grid and healbot and though I know some healers will hate me for it, I just dislike them both. I heal better with the basic UI. It works great for some but just not as well with me.
And, so we're clear. This
garreth — Thu, 03/19/2009 - 01:51And, so we're clear. This isn't me saying "GTFO". But, if we're going to continue with this app, I need screenshots of you using it or at least some real questions on how it works so you can get better with it.
Though I don't expect you to
garreth — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 15:36Though I don't expect you to magically go this far, every single of one our hardcore healers has a UI with at least this level of modification: /node/5719
There's "healing" and then again, there's "endgame healing". I'm talking Sunwell-pre-3.0 endgame. Something you have not had the the pleasure to experience yet. Do us all a favor and start building your UI to accommodate that level of difficulty now instead of wiping your raid for a month because you can't keep up.
Nas, Taut, I'm sure you both
Lorb — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 20:07Nas, Taut, I'm sure you both remember me from the old guild. I made myself use grid for a month of raiding and now can't believe I thought I was good before that. I often think, what the people who thought I was great back then would of thought if they saw the huge improvement in me while useing grid. It's that much better!!...lorb
Grid is the thing
jaibyrd — Wed, 03/18/2009 - 23:06I think every one has talked the 'I'm a way better healer' part of grid up but I want to point out the obvious: If you raid with Downfall you use grid. The other healers need to know what the heck you are doing so they can make their heals count. Downfall doesn't appreciate misuse of mana. When you have grid (whether you make use of it or not) the rest of the raid can check out what heals you are adding so as not to overheal your target. Works like a charm. A charming charm.
Actually Grid isn't need for
saedo — Wed, 03/18/2009 - 23:12Actually Grid isn't need for Grid users to see incoming heals. Grid doesn't really send out any info for sync'ing with others. It's just a compact display of the raid with a fuck ton of info crammed into there.
And here I thought that it
jaibyrd — Thu, 03/19/2009 - 12:44And here I thought that it didn't work as well in groups where all the healers didn't have it. O my, are those enough negatives in that sentence or what...trying to decode and make sure I actually said what I think I wanted to say.
I guarantee you are forcing
garreth — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 14:08I guarantee you are forcing yourself to be less effective than you could be. We have enough bad players that feel they're "good enough" and won't try to get better. I have no time to coach players that can't keep up with the rest of us.
There is NO way that you can outheal any of our raiding healers with stock UI raid frames, even taking into account gear. You'll always be slower than me because I know who WILL get hit, not just whom got hit after the fact. You'll never be as efficient as me because I already know whom has incoming heals and I can therefore direct my heal elsewhere. You'll always be making the wrong choices on whom to heal, because you can't see whom already has HoTs on them, thus you'll waste valuable time and mana healing people that could be left alone while you go heal someone who is about to take real damage. But wait! You won't know who is about to take real damage because you have no indicators of incoming damage or aggro.
Are you that horribad druid that never decurses in my raids? I'm sure the stock raid frames have some sort of debuff indicator, but I doubt it's filtered for only what you can cleanse. I bet your stock frames don't show you whom has the boss debuff that's ticking for 5k a second. You know THAT debuff - the one that you have to heal on within milliseconds or the person dies (Sarth3D flame wall debuff/KT iceblock/Bloodboil/etc)
I don't need any more guildies that feel the need to rationalize to me why they are bad, why they should stay bad and why they refuse to get better
Heal mods overrated imo.
butternut — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 11:10I personally have never used a healing mod to heal and ive been healing for 4 years. Alot of people dont like the mods I dont see any need for it myself I just use xperl raid frames and keybind all of my heals so that way I can watch everyones health/mana bars click on them and hit the number key that corresponds to my heals.
If you want to see kelps healing abilities carry her into a group I guarantee you will not be disappointed. =p
raid frames!!
poisondonut — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 15:18NAS! Even you said that you use xperl raidframes. Kelp's UI is as stock as they come from what I saw in the screenshot. I have no doubts in kelp's ability to heal well, i have witnessed it firsthand, but in end-game /hardcore raiding, you need to be the very best, and to be the very best, you have to be in coordination with the other healers. Grid allows you to do that. Downfall runs two full 25 man raids, both of which have cleared all the content available (both raids have sarth3d kills, by far the biggest challenge in game currently besides achievements). definitely get grid, i also reccomend picking up a unitframes such as pitbull xperl or ag frames.it just gives so much customizability and things such as target of target (of target even!) and the ability to move frames around on your screen. and change size/opacity, and other stuff. These things can only make you a better player in the long run (at least in a raid setting).
Grid
Jayel — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 12:26Grid is so much more then just a healing mod. Its very useful for healing but I put it in the raiding mod category for its overall usefulness.
You may be good at what you
saedo — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 11:58You may be good at what you do. But that does not mean you can't be better at what you can do with better tools.
Analogy time! Let's see I'll use...
You may be very good and proficient with a screwdriver. But you won't beat someone using a power drill!
Anyways, this is Grid. /node/5719
Grid does it all.
Derchlon — Tue, 03/17/2009 - 12:24I agree. Grid doesn't just help you heal, it tells you everything you need to know about people's status. Its so small and convenient too, that I'm not sure why you would be against it. My bet is that you've done it one way for so long, that any change feels uncomfortable. I guarantee that if you stick with grid for 1 month of raiding, you'll love it, and regret not sticking with it sooner.
I like the fact that you have
Atar — Mon, 03/16/2009 - 07:32I like the fact that you have an 80 Shadow Priest. Hmm.......Salmon might could use one of those.........
I'd honestly be happy to raid
figment103 — Mon, 03/16/2009 - 17:01I'd honestly be happy to raid on either Kelp or Taut but would prefer to raid on Kelp if possible.
I like healers. Can you
garreth — Mon, 03/16/2009 - 01:55I like healers. Can you please post a link to a screenshot of your UI with a description of what's going on in it?
Yessir!
figment103 — Mon, 03/16/2009 - 17:00Added it to my app. :-P
go go gadget tree form
poisondonut — Mon, 03/16/2009 - 00:44As tautiana she was a pretty amazing dps priest. as kelp we ran ZA bear runs where she did an awesome job keeping everyone alive. No emo/bitchiness and she sings on vent!
Plus she's a girl, we need more females. Its a real sausage fest in KB.
