Wow, I thought this one was more mature than that. I'm thinking she may have gone emo over her first parses with us as well. I looked at some of her old parses from other guilds and she was top of the pack, her first parses with KB in naxx, showed her lacking. Could have been a massive ego blow.
Big pile of fail here. Was recruited to another guild for a "guaranteed" raid spot. Lasted a grand total of three days in Downfall. I'd like to wish you luck as a guild hopper, but .. well, good luck ;)
I think we need to make our recruitment process longer.
Both on her priest and warrior... The first two weeks of Naxx25!!1 she's been there with us, week one as the priest, week two as the warrior. Handles both very well... The warrior was a little undergeared but her strats were dead on - we didn't have a single tank-related wipe that week. The priest is great execution + great gear... I believe the two of us were neck and neck for top of healing parses when she ran. Add in a great attitude that makes her pleasant to raid with... We've got a winner here.
Heals were good and strong the entire run the other night in Torvo's raid. Knew what she was doing and how to do it. Healers are always in demand and good healers are best to snag up. Good healer here =)
Your heals look fine on that parse. PoM still not optimal, but none of us are perfect. Could probably get out a few more CoH too. Overall You did great. Tovro is a Chain heal beast, you got close to him. Thats pretty strong, IMO. Your decursing was also good, which matters alot!
Well, not sure if I should still update, but I did get into a Naxx raid that Torvo ran. I ran a report - but stats seem like my usually stats. I know it may seem like my healing was a bit weak - but I MC'd for Instructor (all 3 tries). PoM is still a bit low, but I am still trying to improve that stat. I also am updating the pic of my raiding ui that I used for this run.
Just to comment on the "focused on being a top raiding guild" thats not our main goal. We just happen to kick so much ass in Raid Instances. Being one of Gorg's top raiding guild was accidental ;>
Shin, Downfall IS a community guild, I agree. But we ARE the TOP achievement guild on server. Cant deny it. If the shoe fits, wear it :) - I know I personally, as well as a host of other raiders would like to keep that particular distinction - otherwise why are we beating the immortal to death
We have 400+ people. Some of them are pretty hard core raiders - some of them are not.
I think this application has reasonable expectations to join our 25 man ranks, and thus 25man acheivement raiding is important to them
Technically, we don't have 400+ people in guild - we have 185. 185 unique accounts with a total of 426 toons in guild. Considering that I have 6 toons in guild (my DK, 3 70's, a 32 lock, and a 10 pally), and we have a lot of people with a heap of alts ... yeah.
Out of 185 HUMANS who are a member of downfall - 25 of them, I'd call hard core raiders. Another 25, I'd call pretty damn serious raiders. Thats 50. Plus we have some standbys who are chomping for a spot to become one of those 50, so lets just call it 60 and say that fully 1/3 of the HUMANS in downfall are pretty darn hardcore/serious raiders
There are about 55 HUMANS who are not alts or not emo - who have not logged in for over 30 days. SO these characters can be counted on a 1 to 1 basis. This takes our effective participatory membership (who the guild really is, the ppl who are playing) down to 120. So the break down as I see it currently in downfall is
60 hardcore/serious raiders
60 casual players
The point could definatly be made, based on these numbers that we are a 'hardcore raiding guild'
We just have fun while doing it :)
Gosh, some of us really think too much about stuff dont we :p
I do believe you might have too much time on your hands Mori. That is a lot of thought to a non-problem. Although if you take the 60 non hardcore raiders you probably could break that down as well.
30 or so are people such as myself who long for the glory days of raiding but alas life has kicked them in the but and can no longer commit the time on a weekly/daily basis. This group would also included the weekend warriors that pug 10 and 25 mans on the weekends due to lack of time during the week.
30 or so probably have the time and skill to raid but have no interest in doing anything other than herbing and or farming gold. (Zifter deliberately avoids eye contact with Allikat.) This group would also include those few guildies who don't have much interest in PvE at all and spend all their time doing World PvP in the SoH area.
So based on that breakdown 75% of the guild would be raiding if they had the time and are capable fillins for a night if needed. I do agree that we are a community first and foremost, but I think we are a community that really likes PvE content and consequently we are very good at it. I think that is why we are percieved as hardcore.
I agree with garreth when he says we need more good healers. I feel bad when I log on for a short time and I'm needed to heal and don't have the time to help. So I'm always happy to see healing apps. I like the way the app read and if moriella says your ok, thats good enough for me.
This application is somehow, even better than I thought it might be.
I've been trying to get this player to app to us for about 45 days now. Glad to see it finally come thru.
My negative comments however:
UI needs some work - I know I'm still rebuilding mine, but I dont think mine was ever that basic
You died quite a few times in one naxx run. Thats pretty extreme, but looking at your parses, it doesnt appear to be your fault. It appears to be raid issues.
In your wws parses (thanks for posting them BTW) , the ONLY thing I could recommend is to get your PoM up to >20% of your healing. It IS more effective than glyphed HN. Getting it up to 25% of your healing will probably raise your healing somewhere in the order of 250-400k on a naxx run.
"oh, and one last thing First, just to get it out of the way, Mori is a dude! You'll hear the dulcet tones of his baritone on Vent ;)" -garreth
OH YEAH!! (que Barry White) or "Luke , I am your father..."
I really do thank you so much for telling me to apply and sorry it took me so long. I have to admit that my loyalty runs very deep and I was just not able to apply to your guild until my gm stepped down from his position.
I will definitely work on my UI for this entire week. I have already glanced at Garreth’s UI and I plan to incorporate as many of his suggestions for UI as I possibly can. I really hope you don’t mind me asking some questions about Grid and things of that nature – but I will try to get as much organized on my own before I beg for help. =)
Also, I couldn’t agree more on your PoM suggestion – I am going to go back and look at all my WWS reports for the last 3 months and see if that night was just a low night for me or if I am statically that percentage all the time.
I think the mod I use is PoM timer. there are several similar mods out there that will do the same thing. Basically what you are looking for is a hard to ignore visual or audible cue that will tell you when your PoM cd is up, so you can immediatly get it off again, increasing its average up time. Some people like the fact that PoM timer will tell you who it's jumped too so you can make a decision about whether to cast it again or just let it bounce more. Theorycrafting this, I believe trying to make a decision on IF it will bounce again, i.e IF that person will take damage before PoM dissolves is foolish. Just cast it every 8 seconds and forget about where it is. Less mana effective, and MIGHT have to change in 3.1 - but I doubt it.
Allright, I'm going to give this app some time because you come recommended by Mori and Haleth, two guys whose opinion I respect.
First, just to get it out of the way, Mori is a dude! You'll hear the dulcet tones of his baritone on Vent ;)
Also, I'm impressed at your focus and dedication to the healing arts. We need that. I try to cultivate that attitude in all our long-term, hardcore healers. It's rare and it's something to be applauded. I have been doing nothing but healing in WoW for over four years... my God that looks bad when I type it...and it takes a special (sick?) person to stick with it.
However, to temper the raid focus, we need someone who has just as much passion for the people who play this game. We're a community first and a raiding guild second. We need that community aspect front and center. We can throw gear at you easily. We can't, however, fix a douchebag.
Let's talk play style. We'll have two raids in Ulduar on release day of 3.1. That's TWO full 25-man raids, ready to rip shit up. We're one of the only guilds in the world that has managed to successfully sustain two, independent raids for over two years. That means that we're running with the best of the best: healers whose action bars are filled with macros, healers who not only use Grid but have six other Grid addons for added functionality. We have healers who are playing at the very edge of the game. They don't need their hands held and can stay out of the fire (or IN the fire if it's the first boss in Ulduar).
There is a rumbling across the WoW world that Ulduar 25-man raids will damn near require 7 or even 8 healers. This means that we'll need to bring more of an already rare raid role. As it stands right now, I don't know of a single healer in Downfall that isn't humped to death the moment they log in to go heal something. There are healing openings in the two 25-man raids, but it will take a bit as we figure out where our healers lie for 3.1.
I like the app, overall. It kills me to see "Stock UI + Grid" from a healer since we have so much more that we need to track, but I promised the guild that I wouldn't harp on our new applicants so much about their UI. For reference of what most of the healers in my raid run, you can see mine here: /node/5806.
Join our dfrecruit channel and run everything that gets announced in there. The only way we'll get to know you is if you're online and ready to rock.
Thanks for the heads up about Mori. =) I am so used to raiding with 24 guys all the time – not sure why I assumed that Mori was a girl.... I guess it was just his toon.
I plan to do all my homework and look up all the UI suggestions that were in your link. I realize I don’t need Pally Power, but I am sure all the rest are mods that are extremely beneficial. I guess my current raiding style reflects my RL to much – mathematicians love using pencil and paper even though calculators exist.
I will make sure to join the dfrecruit channel the minute I log on. I am actually looking forward to healing just about anything – great chance to get to meet people.
Also, thank you for the time you invested with all your suggestions and input. I am always looking to grow as a player and realize that you have much knowledge – wow... feels like I just called you Yoda.
Hi there, good to meet another healer. You will enjoy grid a lot when you get it set up and every healer in the guild uses it so just ask any of us anything. Also though Mori is NOT a female there are quite a few of us women in the guild, just so you know that you won't be the only one lol :-) and several of us raid as well so you probably won't be the only female in the group if you are doing 5's 10's or 25's with anyone here. It's a nice feeling. Meanwhile your app sure looks as if you pay attention to what you are capable of and adapt to improve. Nice skills to have. Good luck with the process of application.
I just wanted to clear up - since it reads wrong - I have used healbot in the past for most of my raiding, but I am going to try out Grid since I have heard that many healers from DF use it.
