mods are fine i personally use a few. Although the only really raid related mod I use at the moment is recount for combat statistic tracking.

Raid Experience:
To be honest, I have not done too much before WotLK. I only entered Karazhan and made it as far as Illhoof. I was always a more pvp oriented rogue during the days of BC when i utilized a Shadowstep daggers build which at the time was not even remotely viable for pve.

Felsteel — Thu, 04/30/2009 - 08:48

Nice, mutilate is good and the build looked solid(judging from my limited knowledge of mutilate spec:D) Now the trick is can you play it, its one of the trickier specs to play in a raid setting, at least for me. Get a spreadsheet and figure our your rotation.

rotation

Noctis Umbra — Thu, 04/30/2009 - 10:30

well the concept is fairly easy enough i was reading the rotation on ej where i got the spec from. i am picking up pretty quickly though. still not perfect especially knowing what to do for which bosses loll. trying to figure out how to make the cd bars bigger on iceHUD so i can keep track of my HFB/SnD/Rupture better. Especially fo the little more chaotic boss fights that involve al ot of attack dodging.

just go to module options

Felsteel — Thu, 04/30/2009 - 10:37

just go to module options select wich bar and then change the scale, height, width, whatever you need.

thanks

Noctis Umbra — Thu, 04/30/2009 - 12:36

awesome thank you.

Title Change

Noctis Umbra — Wed, 04/29/2009 - 02:32

It seems that in light of recent events  I may need to change my app title to "Doing What It Takes: One Rogue's Ideal Transformed."

For the love of all that is good and holy,

LISTEN TO SAEDO

I've no doubt that he's the best rogue on the server.  This is a parse from all boss fights in Ulduar tonight.

Vast improvement in short amount of time

Kerilyn — Tue, 04/28/2009 - 21:32

i remember talking to Tim here before he completed his app and i must say i have seen a vast improvement in his outlook on the world of raiding. alot less negativity, more proactiveness. just yesterday i was helping him get a few better gems for his gear with my crappy collection of pats. (Disrupta probly has more useful pats for gems than i do, all mine are like holy) And Tim ran a heroic HoL with VIrgill and i the other day. It went very smoothly, no fussing, no mess, 1 or 2 deaths but i dont think it was his fault. But other than that i just wanted to say all in all big  improvement in a short amount of time. maybe theres something to that. worth a shot imo.

Acqueiescence!! THe Needs of the Many!

Noctis Umbra — Tue, 04/28/2009 - 13:37

so i am going to respec into the 3.1 HaT build that i aw talked about on EJ. its a 10/18/43 however i may get shadow step because i reallly enjoy the use of that talent. I am also going ot try to pick up a fist weapon today. i am sure you guys do not actualy NEED me to use a set profession. However, I love engineering but I al willing to get rid of the mining to take skinning for the crit rating. I have other toons that can mine for me.

saedo's picture

Again, the bigger point was

saedo — Tue, 04/28/2009 - 13:59

Again, the bigger point was that you had both professions at LOW SKILL LEVELS.     It's like having cheap gems in epics, enchants, or whatever.   It's a point that if you're just not maxing, you look lazy.

And I wanted you to point out exactly what the dps benefits eng had to offer.    Yes, you got your pvp tricks, good for you.    What else do you know about your own damn profession?

Sure, take shadowstep as your own choice.   Justify it all you want.    Just realize there's a difference between max dps and laddy di da this is fun dps.       Up to the raid leaders to decide what kind of person they want for them.

I dont know sub that well,

Felsteel — Tue, 04/28/2009 - 13:45

I dont know sub that well, but you are taking your build for PvE content correct? If so why are you taking Shadowstep for a PvE build?

Shadowstep is useful for pve

Noctis Umbra — Tue, 04/28/2009 - 14:35

Shadowstep is useful for pve in that for bosses and mobs that have knockback attacks or move around alot with any sort of slowing or effect to save on those extra couple of seconds not dps-ing that would otherwise be spent catching back up to the boss. It also provides a 20% dmg increase on the next rogue ability at 50% less threat. I think it is great for opening. Why not use it when ts off cd as well for that extra 20% dmg if otherwise not neeed?

As far as my professions and being lazy well that may be the case. Or i could just get bored and distracted by converstating end up iving runs to people getting caled into an instnace. I did not even have mining until 80. I had ended up going engineering during BC and taking jewelcrafting later on along with engineering. Which is quite costly to raise both. The main point of having those two specificaly were for the goggles and the panther figurine both more pvp oriented items. To be honest i nevetr looked into engineering for anything more then its nifiness. I am sorry that i did niot initially have a raid mindset when choosing my professions.

I love rogue apps.

Noctis Umbra — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 22:12

hmm... and why would that be?

moriella's picture

why?

moriella — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 22:20

Cause rogues have the highest % of epic fail players.

Even more than hunters.

How long are we gonna let this go on?

Where are you at in

garreth — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 11:23

Where are you at in Washington?

And, to reiterate, we haven't ginvited a rogue in years because there's a LOT of shitty rogues.  I'm not saying that you're a shitty rogue, but to be even a marginally good rogue, you've got to have a handle on a lot of math, mods, reaction time and pure knowledge.  I know THREE good rogues in the entire game, the rest lie somewhere between "meh" and "terribad".

To even have a chance here, there has to be an attitude of "doing whatever it takes to be the best".  Yes, even for our casual players, and friends of guildies.  Downfall is HUGE.  We've got more casual people than I'm comfortable with.  Every ginvite has to ask themselves "What do I bring to the guild?" and "What can I contribute?".

We're one of the top guilds on the server and the United States because we hold everyone to a higher standard of play.  What are you going to do hit this standard?

Alright

Noctis Umbra — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 11:43

I live in Seattle. I have to agree with the alot of shitty rogues and that I am not the best or the worst. I will utilize any rogue mods recommended to me and if there is an expected minimum dps for someone in my gear that I can use as a target to set my sights on I will do my best to hit that with my current spec and if i fail then i fail with my spec. Now to edit my long replies to make them look better.

Felsteel — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 10:44

I have had a few run ins with Stab, I think even while I was lvling before I hit 70, anyways all around nice person. Now, about your add-on bashing and claiming that rogues do not need many mods.

I'm still a green raiding rogue, but im getting up there. From what I have learned rogues require a lot of info to optimize there dps, timers are your best friend, how long do you have on your SnD, ruptre, and when should you refresh, cool-downs ready yet, I personally use a CP mod that displays my CPs better. So anything that gives you more info on your abilities and such that helps your dps should be your friend. Omen, get it no questions.

I guess i shall give them a

Noctis Umbra — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 11:12

I guess i shall give them a try. All i am saying as much time as I have spent without them, I have learned to keep track of things fairly. I will admit that I am human and therefore do not track things perfefctly.

Greatest Saedo reply ever...this is so going in the handbook. lol

indeed

Noctis Umbra — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 11:47

I understand am human and that these mods will help. I like your aesthetic analogy there even though I am not even remotely interested in cars so stock vs aftermarket for cars makes no difference. =P But good analogy nonetheless.

saedo's picture

Yea it's more about

saedo — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 12:39

Yea it's more about functionality.   But with UIs, it usually makes it far prettier too (let's not count extraneous pretty only mods), by either not cluttering things up, or grouping important things into easier locations.     That analogy is more, like as good as a driver/racer you are, the machine you run has limitations.    Sure a shitty driver will still do shit in the pretty car.   But put a good one behind that and you'll reach new heights.

garreth's picture

garreth — Mon, 04/27/2009 - 12:05

Though, to be fair about the aftermarket car parts, I know a lot of even shittier cars that just have a ground-skirt and a ridiculous wing with absolutely ZERO engine improvements.  So, this isn't about just prettiness, it's about functionality!  There are many mods that improve functionality, take a look at our UI gallery (/image/tid/87) for at least a "huh, that's how they did that" start.
