Feral dps
Aurleas — Wed, 05/06/2009 - 12:33
Recently I have been expanding deeper into the druid class on my alt Karesh. Tanking is the only spec and role I am currently comfortable palying.
I wil be dual specing my druid later today. I want to have the versatility to pull some big numbers when there is no need for multiple tanks (lets face it if you have taken a look at salmon parses either kitties or Atar are OP). I have been reading up on the EJ forums and have a good idea of what dps rotations i should be using but im not completely sure what stats i should be stacking etc.
As well im looking into starting my first real venture into arenas. I am wondering if anyone can recomend mods to track my cd's and bleed effects etc. and if my dual spec(which is also actually a dual spec as i will use for both pvp and feral pve dps) can be improved upon.
This is my proposed spec and glyphs any input towards spec, gear gemming etc. would be greatly appreciated

LFM 3v3
Aurleas — Fri, 05/08/2009 - 10:35I am LFM a healer and plate dps to do 20 games with me sometime this weekend so i can see what spec i want to roll with i will buy the team come get some points if your interested.
I would have to break out
Nuitarin — Thu, 05/07/2009 - 08:07I would have to break out RAWR to determine if you should gem ArP, but off the top of my head, if you have 300 ArP rating or more you should gem ArP, otherwise stick to agility. An addidtional benefit of switching from Agi to ArP is that its less damaging to your dps to let your rip drop off the target.
I would stay with Agi for PvP because Agi increases your healing power from Nurturing Instinct and it gives you more armor and dodge. My advice to you would be to play say 20 games or so and keep track of who died first. If they stay off you, you can drop Protector of the Pack and pick up Predatory Instincts.
HIt cap is 295 hit rating or 8%. If you raid with a draenei in your group you will get Heroic Presence and you only need 7% on your gear. I sometimes run with less than capped hit, dps simulators and spreadsheets always show that to get max dps you dont cap hit. Other dps stats like agility or Arp are always more valuble. Having some amount of hit is just good so you can make fairly sure that your mangle or rake or rip will stick when you try to use it.
Its great to have good advice at your disposal!
Aurleas — Thu, 05/07/2009 - 12:16excellent thank you for the advice. I am going to test some specs on the dummies this afternoon to see if its possible to make a hybrid pvp/feral dps spec otherwise i guess i will go with something close to what you posted as the more i look around it seems to be the cookie cutter feral pvp spec. also im not sure i understand the ArP if i have 300 on gear then i stack it?? or do i stack it to 300 then go for agility?
thanks for the input
Aurleas — Thu, 05/07/2009 - 07:54ok so follow priority list check, stack amor pen check i have about 12% i think in my pve gear with no gems, classtimers will be downloaded later today check. feral dps spec check, pvp spec??? maybe i should just go with a feral pvp spec and see how it works for kitty dps(cant be worse than my tank spec imo). Also i am wondering what is hit cap for feral dps i am a little unsure because of the lack of weapons(paws used instead) would it still be roughly 8% ?
What are you going for in pvp?
Prime8 — Thu, 05/07/2009 - 02:16Are you actually intending to dps or are you planning on soaking dmg? You might want to look at a spec similar to this one if you're mostly looking for a lot of survivability.
pvp
Aurleas — Thu, 05/07/2009 - 07:43im looking to face rape our primary target the thoughts are i wont need as much survavability because entering the fight stealthed im gonna position to cc a target then gang bang our priority with the warior so i want as much burst damage as possible while still retaining the stun and fear reduction increased stealth infected wounds to slow them down etc.
This is my cat spec. There is
Nuitarin — Wed, 05/06/2009 - 22:37This is my cat spec.
There is no dps rotation for a cat, there is a priority list for what you should do next. This is what it is roughly. You want to shred as much as you can and mangle as little as you can.
1) Make sure savage roar is up on you
2) Make sure mangle is up on the mob
3) Make sure rip us up
4) Make sure rake is up
5) Use tiger's fury when you are on low energy
6) Use berserk when you are on high energy
7) Keep FF up on your target
Glyphs: Savage roar, shred, rip
Stats to stack: Agility. After you get some armor pen on your gear, gem armor pen.
I use Classtimer to track debuffs and dots on the target as well as savage roar/tiger's fury/ berserk durations. There are feral specific mods like Badkitty and Facemauler but I havent messed much with them. In my opinion the PvP cat spec and the PvE cat spec are completly dissimular. A PvP spec for cat looks more like a bear spec in my opinion. I think this is a more typical pvp setup
What Nuit said ^^^^^^^^^ Stay
Atar — Thu, 05/07/2009 - 06:09What Nuit said ^^^^^^^^^
Stay with your priority list and you'll be good. It's not really hard to dps as a feral and long as you keep to your list.
ArP is good. Really good for a feral. I think once I get more loot out of Ulduar I'll be switching all my gems from agi to ArP. The cool thing about ArP is that the more you have to better the stat becomes. I don't know how well ArP works in arenas though. Talk to Nuit about that one.
thanks for the advice. you
Aurleas — Thu, 05/07/2009 - 00:28thanks for the advice. you suggest armor pen what percentage am i looking for and is there a cap befor i stack agility? Is there nothing about my proposed spec that has any credability for both pvp and cat dps not necessarily max cat dps, but enough to make it signifigantly better than my tank spec?
Keep in mind i am planning on doing 3v3 only atm with an arms war and holy pally hence why i didnt take imp mangle becasue i shouldnt have to use it very often due to trauma. I also didnt see the benefit from taking feral agression it is more likely that i will be keeping rip up than using ferocious bite both in pvp and pve, and the warrior can shout. My thinking was taking more talents for burst damage would be more of a benefit than some of the talents for survivability like PotP in regards to the pvp aspect.??? I havent actually specced yet so any further input would be great.
