Curious
judgedredd — Wed, 05/13/2009 - 23:27
Today i was asked to assist a recruiting officer in administering the written tests to hopful police applicants. There was a high failure rate on the test among this particular group. I'm curious to see how people in guild would do with this question (this area really screwed people up), there were 15 questions on this alone.
Question 12
Based solely on the information below, which of the following witness statements is the most likely description of the suspect?
A) 6’2, 150 lbs, dreadlocks, pierced nose, baggy blue jeans, male Hispanic, red sweater with a hood
B) Crew cut hair, male black, 6’1, 210 lbs, baggy blue jeans, red sweater with a hood, pierced nose.
C) Male black, 6’2, dreadlocks, pierced nose, 210 lbs, baggy blue jeans, red sweater with a hood.
D) Dreadlocks, male black, 6’2, , tattoo left forearm, 210 lbs, baggy blue tracksuit, green sweater.
pls note if you took a guess, or write what steps you took to get your answer.
~i will post an answer for this question later~

the person who gave d was probably red/green colourblind
Another test =)
judgedredd — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 10:46C is indeed the correct answer.
Why?
Of the four accounts, the information in the correct answer is confirmed by at least two other witnesses. most of you understood the question.
Im running under the assumption if you answer 1 correct (w/o guessing) you should get them all, so those of you who answered it correctly "should" get 15/15 =).
Now for fun i am goin to post another one, this one was not answered correctly by any of the applicants. It's a series of 4 questions based on one set of facts.
Question 5
You are incharge of deploying personal to ensure that all floors of an 8 story apartment building are guarded by one officer. Five officers are already in the building named Jessop, Laramy, Josifovic, Branton, and Lee. Jessop has reported that he has the floor directly above Lee covered, The officer on the second floor reported that everything was in order but the first floor was not guarded. You know that laramy was one story above Josifovic. Branton has the top floor covered and says he saw Jessop covering the floor Two below him.
Based on the facts above, Who is Covering The fourth floor?
A) Josifovic
B) Laramy
C) Lee
D) No one
Question 6
Based on the same facts as above, What floor does Josifovic have covered?
A) 2
B) 3
C) 4
D) 5
Question 7
Based on the same facts as above, What floors are currently not guarded that you have to assign personnel to?
A) 1,2,7
B) 1,3,6
C) 1,4,7
D) 1,5,7
Question 8
Based on the same facts as above, Which two officers have floors three and five covered?
A) Lee & Jessop
B) Lee & Laramy
C) Laramy & Jessop
D)Josifovic & Jessop
This question is part of the logic section.
Everyone has been right so
Fjork — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 12:19Everyone has been right so far. Your soon-to-be co-workers are idiots.
You should start an in-building lottery, with a winner only being drawn once a month. $5 per person, per month. $25.00 jackpot! (Only if you have more than ten co-workers......)
^_^
we get smart bunches of ppl
judgedredd — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 13:37we get smart bunches of ppl and not so smart bunches. The good thing about the testing is you have to pass it then u submit ur personal history forms and then they open a file for you. The ppl who failed have to wait 3 months to even take the tests again. Everyone seems to be pretty good with these, i think ill post another one later today when i get some time, first correct answer posted as a reply wins 100g. Might do it as a weekly thing=)
I liked my lottery
Fjork — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 13:46I liked my lottery idea.......
We could do it for the guild! 10g per guild member per month! Winner gets 100g!!!
^_^
First question I got C like
Ewiges — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 17:31First question I got C like every else. Matching height to weight then doing most common attributes.
On the second questions it seems I also got it right, thought after figureing it all out I would get confused and eventually wrote it down on a peice of paper. Marking 1-8 as the floors then filling in the appropraite names for each floor. I think with pen and paper a 3rd grader could even do it as it is extremely simple and memorization is the only problem.
D) No one A) 2 C) 1,4,7 B)
Aidin — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 12:04D) No one
A) 2
C) 1,4,7
B) Lee & Laramy
D A B C this is without
Dragon — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 11:53D A C B
this is without writing it all out in a diagram like I probably would have done on a test to be 100% for certain
Going to be pissed if I get

I used process of elimination
Karli — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 09:55I used process of elimination and logic to find the most likely answer.
I eliminated two off the bat because of logistical problems. It's pretty odd to find a 150 lb dude that is 6'2". They'd be a total string bean. Not only that, but hispanic & caucasian hair doesn't have texture that lends itself to dreadlocks (although it's possible--I do live in Portland so I have seen plenty of white people with dreads). So that makes A unlikely.
Next I eliminated D, because it would be very difficult to see a tatoo on the forearm when the person is wearing a track suit. There are plenty of short sleeved track suits and/or sweaters, but most of them are long-sleeved. I suppose you could have the sleeves pushed up, but it would still be a stretch. This means D is less likely.
Next, between B and C, if you re-arrange the descriptive items, they are almost identical except for the main difference of the hair. They both describe that the man is wearing a red hooded sweater, but again most likely I think people actually don't wear the hood up. Maybe if they were committing a crime though, the hood WOULD be up? Otherwise, you'd only wear it if it was cold or wet or something. If the hood was down, the difference in the hair would be obvious. But if the hood was UP, it would be very difficult to discern a crew cut from another style, but dreads would be obvious.
At this point I am leaning toward C, so I want to go back through the answers again to double check. I should note it actually took me a while to figure out the structure of this question; it didn't occur to me until later on that essentially it's a "what if you got 4 different descriptions of the same suspect, which would be the closest to reality?". Now that I'm operating on this assumption, I am going to look for commonalities between the 4 descriptions. Three votes for height at 6'2", three votes for weight at 210 lbs, three votes dreadlocks, all say male, 3 say black, 3 say pierced nose, 3 say baggy blue jeans, and 3 say red sweater with a hood (I will also note that the off one specifies green, and if I wanted to go out on a limb I could speculate it was because of color blindness).
This confirms that C is indeed the best description.
=( When I got married I was
Ardea — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 10:56=( When I got married I was 6' 145lbs... I miss those days...
Your all wrong. The answer is
Agoney — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 09:51Your all wrong. The answer is DNE. No guy would get their nose pierced :P
(No subject)
Karli — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 09:58C because: It has the most
garreth — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 09:38C because:
Definatly C.
Aidin — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 08:57Definatly C.
C with reasons and other shitz

Ok, humor aside (satire if you will) once again we are seeing an issue where most of the suspects given are minorities.
The most likely answer after working it out will be C. It shares the most information in common with the other answers and makes the most sense. Dreadlocks would be "visible" even if the hood was up on a sweatshirt as would be the pierced nose.
That being said, you are probably on the lookout (if this was in practice) of someone between the heights of 5'11"-6'3" weighing roughly 190-220 pounds.
However even once you include the pierced nose and dreadlocks, at least around where I live you are gonna be rounding up an awful lot of people.
hmmm.....
Fjork — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 08:15A) 6’2, 150 lbs, dreadlocks, pierced nose, baggy blue jeans, male Hispanic, red sweater with a hood
A hispanic with Dreadlocks?
B) Crew cut hair, male black, 6’1, 210 lbs, baggy blue jeans, red sweater with a hood, pierced nose.
A crew cut? When the sweater has a hood? Was the hood not up I guess?
C) Male black, 6’2, dreadlocks, pierced nose, 210 lbs, baggy blue jeans, red sweater with a hood.
'C' is the most likely, however, the weight and height are only an approximation from a 'sight-guess'. I would annotate 'medium-build, roughly six foot' instead of 6'2, 210 lbs. I know that adds a few hundred thousand suspects, but unless the man was standing on a scale in front of a measuring stick.........
D) Dreadlocks, male black, 6’2, , tattoo left forearm, 210 lbs, baggy blue tracksuit, green sweater.
Hmm.... The other three witnesses state the man was wearing a red sweater. Tattoo on the left forearm? I thought he was wearing a sweater? Tracksuit? The other three witnesses said bluejeans.
dang now I am second guessing
Ardea — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 09:20dang now I am second guessing myself...
D) Dreadlocks, male black,
Ardea — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 07:56D) Dreadlocks, male black, 6’2, , tattoo left forearm, 210 lbs, baggy blue tracksuit, green sweater.
In my neighborhood... This is not meant to seem racist...
- I have never seen a Hispanic with Dreadlocks... but if Jack Black can pull it off I guess anything is possible.
- Hispanic wear baggie jeans and Black wear track suits (just an observation of the neighborhoods I lived in)
- Nose ring on a guy? I guess it is possible but not common...
- Assuming they are a non-brain dead perp if they had a sweater with a hood they would use it to hide some of their features like hair.
... so D seems the most logical to me.
i;m goin with c,
Grasen — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 07:05i;m goin with c,
I don't think its D, based on
starstalker — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 07:07Are they all supposed to be descriptions of the same guy?
If so, I'd go with C.
yes the are all a description
judgedredd — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 08:02yes the are all a description of the same guy given by four different witnesses.
answer me =)
judgedredd — Wed, 05/13/2009 - 23:40answer me =)
C?
Caronte22 — Wed, 05/13/2009 - 23:51C?
Also going to guess C. All of
Prime8 — Thu, 05/14/2009 - 00:16Also going to guess C. All of the information listed agrees with the most information provided in the other testimonies.
D is my guess! Even though
Disrupter — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 23:06D is my guess! Even though I don't currently see anything other then information on what each person looks like.....
*edit part* I came back and did it again and came with c as the conclusion (first time I did that one c was my choice but i felt i was probably wrong and guessed rofl)
I did also do the logic ones and got DACB and then i scroll down and see everyone else got the answer too so semi confident i did that right yay.
