GAME 4: L.A Lakers @ Orlando Magic
Businessman — Thu, 06/11/2009 - 12:34Well another exciting Game starts tonight (6/11) 9pm ET where Lakers hope to come away with their third game series win at Orlando. The Lakers are up 3-1 in the series in a best of 7 NBA Finals showdown. Game 3 was a good win for the Magic, for the whole game they were playing their best basketball throughout the entire playoffs. With that being said, the Magic beat the Lakers only by a 4 point deficit. It seems that for the Magic to even have a shot at beating the Lakers, they will need to bring their A game. The last 3 games, the Lakers have shot over 100 points each. This goes to show that the Magic will need to score over 100 point to even have a chance of beating the Lakers. If the Lakers come up with a win tonight, I just think the Magic will dig themselves to big of a hole to a win the whole series. Stay tuned!

Lakers V.S. Magic Game 3
Businessman — Tue, 06/09/2009 - 11:31For those interested in the NBA Finals Series. Lakers are up 2-0 against the Magic in a best of 7 game series. Game 3 starts Today (06/09 Tuesday) 9pm EST. I don't usually follow basketball, but I am really looking foward to this series. I think Lakers are gonna win for sure and hopefully do it in a devastating fashion with a sweep. Realistically though, I think Lakers will probably win the series 4-1. The Magic are choking really bad in the Finals and their inexperience will prove to be their Downfall.

Lebron is amazing, don't get me wrong, but he isn't the second coming of Jordan, or even in the same league. He's a top 10 player all time, but right now, he's just as good as my fav player Allen Iverson.. can score, pass, play d.. but no championship. Take away Kobe's rings, and Kobe is still a better player (im celtics/nuggets fan, so no favoritism here).
Cleveland is in trouble. They signed these guys to help Lebron, and none of them show up. Mo Williams has games, same with west, but none are ever consistent. Cleveland wont ever reach the finals until they give Lebron more help.

cromi — Wed, 06/10/2009 - 08:24Whatever happened to building a franchise of good players, or great players who get the job done. As in the celtics with Larry Bird. Or even the bulls when they won their championships. The problem with NBA is there is no building, but buying 1 player and building around him. To have a succesfull team, all you really need is 3 great players, and 2 good ones, then some good bench. It gets overlooked these days, but that is the way to win championships. Even the Lakers with Magic Johnson had to rely on a good set of backups, and other players.

I just woke up and it's a cloudy morning here in Chicago. I'm kinda excited to watch Game 2: Lakers vs Magic. It'll be an exciting series, although I'm not a huge basketball fan. The matchup will be exciting, will bet for the Lakers to win. I just bought UFC Undisputed and it is such an awesome game, so I'll play that for awhile with my friends. O yea, just finished a bag of Pepperidge Farm Goldfish baked snack crackers... They're very good.

Baseball Swing

I think the biggest problem with my batting stance was that I was not alignning my baseball grip handle with the incoming baseball and that would sometimes cause me to hit fouls and such. Took numerous swings this week by adding this fundamental tip and my batting has improvement noticably. I don't know why my team coaches never told me about this tip, but now I know and knowledge is power!

This comes from a lot of parents who had positive experiences with specific incorrect mechanics, and then passing them down to their sons/daughters, and even to the other little leaguers they volunteered to coach (or mis-coach in this case). This includes hitting, fielding, and pitching (BTW curveball is perfectly fine for young kids to throw if taught correctly). In most cases, a person's batting stance is best left untouched. There is followthrough, and timing of your motions that can be improved, but just how you stand at the plate is perfectly fine. Infact, changing this can negatively impact a young kid for the rest of their careers (however long or short they may be).
I better stop here before I go on and hyjack your thread further.

In a very real sense, there *is* a right way and a wrong way to do things. For example, my experience in Kendo taught me that there is definitely a right way and a wrong way to hold, swing, and cut with a sword. Allikat could teach everyone a thing or two about how to hold and use a knife. I'd assume there's bound to be proper ways to hit with a baseball bat.

Derchlon — Sun, 06/07/2009 - 18:02Ah yes, you're hitting (no pun intended) on what I didn't fully explain. The stance is fine how it is. Once the pitch is in motion you start your swing, which is something else entirely. You need to load your hands, transfer weight to your front foot (just a tiny bit, it can vary on how your stance starts), and start your hip rotation. Your hands don't start yet, until the very last moment, and BAM bring your hands through as quickly as possible. This generates tremendous bat speed, and is the "correct" way to swing a bat. I could explain it further, but I would have to go really indepth to each specific motion. If you like, I could write one up for you. So there is a right way to "swing" but there is no all encompassing stance.
If you watch MLB often, and break it down frame by frame, you'll see that they all have unique stances, but once they load their hands, they all look exactly the same. Most errors in a players swing comes during the swing itself and thats where most pros work the most on during the season if they hit a slump. They see what they did during their swing when they were successful, then see film of how they swing now, and get a plan on how to fix it. This is usually done by a biomechanics professional, which I'm not, but I do know a lot about it since I studied it a bit under a biomechanic/ex Major League pro player. I know more about pitching than hitting, but I know a decent amount about both.

Same principle is in Kendo, in a sense - the swing starts with the foot/leg-work, the arms begin the motion, but your wrists and hands complete the swing only just before contact.
That said, I'd think that there would be more efficient stances than others ...
Take on the New UI
Dragon — Mon, 06/01/2009 - 07:10Herm, after looking at your new UI I still see a few things that might help ya free up a little bit more screenspace.
1. With Pallypower installed all yuo really need out at the most is 10 minute blessings for people and even that is questionable. It also allows you to take your Seals and Righteous Fury off your bars.
2. Since we can't rez in combat, I put rez on my profession bar to free up another spot on the action bar.
3. I notice you have a lot of holes on your bottom 2 action bars that you could put stuff on to eliminate the ones on the side.
4. I like the new placement of grid, but I was wondering if you did like having quartz there.
Anyway Keep it up, I'm actually keeping an eye on this app which is rare for me. Good Luck man

I just put the bars there as a habit and was just simply using it to have as reminder of my action control moves. I play with a special gaming mouse that has my imminent moves programmed on it like holy shock, DI, DS, trinket, macros etc... I know some people may look at my screen and think it's too cluttered, but I will fix that up with all the pointers I get. Some of the stuff like my addon maps, I get rid off when raid time comes. For Righteous Fury, I was just use to having it when I use to PVP as holy, but you are right.. I don't need it for PVE. It's just really for me to remind me off all the moves I have as a holy paly is all.
I don't mind having quartz there...but I am constantly changing my mods and placements for better improvement of gameplay. I am trying to get more and more into how Primeight's mod looks like, but want to get use to it also:
